Chapter 1 - HEARTBROKEN MOMENT
“This can’t be possible,” Benjamin said with a crackling voice. His colleagues averted their gazes at him, they wondered why he yelled. Benjamin’s face turned gloomy as he glanced at his phone screen; his hand balled into a fist, and his grip tightened on his phone. A video of his girlfriend riding a man passionately was playing before his eyes. He felt a surge of pain and heartbreak, as he heard her moan in pleasure, without hesitation. Benjamin threw the hand towel away. His work as a janitor no longer matters at the moment, he ignored his colleagues who tried to talk to him. Benjamin flagged down a cab, his mind racing through several thoughts, each sending a shock wave within him, his heart shattered into a million pieces. Nora Murphy was the only lady he had loved; he had worked every single day of his life, and with all his salary, he made sure to divide it with her to make sure he provided for her. She was the only person who understood him; she stayed with him and love
Chapter 2 - The Long Family Mansion
“Pardon my manners; I am Ariana Long.” She extended her hand; Benjamin hesitated for a moment before bringing forth his hand. Her arms felt warm, but Benjamin wasn’t in a good mood so he withdrew his hand. Why would someone from the Long family be looking for Benjamin? Benjamin thought for a moment before he muttered. “You haven’t answered my question.” Ariana exhaled slightly. “I need your help, Mr. Scott. You are the last and only students of Master Leo. My grandfather is ill. I heard a lot about you; you are my only hope.” She uttered politely; Benjamin could feel the desperation in her voice. Benjamin stared around; he noticed the way onlookers were staring at them. He wanted to reject, but he felt the energy of the necklace beneath. He hesitated for a moment, remembering the last words of his late master to always help people when they ask for his help, even on his bad days. “Take me to him.” He said with his voice barely above a whisper. Ariana stepped aside, as they pa
Chapter 3 - Save My Grandfather
Benjamin looked at her, he held a bottle of water and behind him was the family butler, Nick. On recognising the voice, she stared at him, her lips quivering. She blinked her eyelid twice to be sure. Benjamin kept a mild expression. He extended his hand to help her up, “I thought you had gone.” She muttered. “Oh! I was about to leave when I saw you. Is everything okay?” Ariana accepted his offer, and slowly, she got to her feet. For a moment, she tried to control her breath, her eyes darting from Benjamin to the bottle of water. “I am sorry, I was just thirsty and needed to wet my throat. I can have it replaced if you want.” He said flatly. Ariana shook her head, “It’s fine,” she sighed, “I need your help. Can you really help my grandfather? I don’t mean to be rude.” Benjamin sighed, “You have doubts, I can see it, but you need to trust me if you want my help.” “I am sorry for the way my sister treated you. Can you please follow me?” She paused. “You were right, my grandfather i
Chapter 4 - Grandfather Is Awake
Everyone was stunned; Ariana and Lucy exchanged glances with each other for a moment before stepping towards their grandfather. “He is awake! Grandfather is awake!” The two beautiful sisters breathed a sigh of relief. “Mr. Scott, I don’t know how to thank you for this. From now henceforth, you are the Long family’s honoured guest.” Dr Andrew watched Ariana bow respectfully to Benjamin. Who would have expected a young man like Benjamin would cure elder Maxwell’s illness? Would Dr. Andrew learned from his mistake, never to judge people by their appearance? “You are welcome, Ms. Long. It’s fine; I am happy I can help.” He replied with a small smile curling at the side of his lips. Elder Maxwell looked at the young man before him, “Who are you,” Benjamin replied softly, “I am Benjamin Scott.” “He saved your life grandfather; he is a great healer,” Ariana added as she couldn’t hold the excitement that had engulfed her. “Elder Maxwell, I have a few questions to ask,” Benjamin said.
Chapter 5 - Grand Land Hotel
The following morning, after Benjamin was done meditating, he gulped the bottle of water beside him. He stayed in a small apartment with few things to his name, he freshened up and was going through his bag when a photograph fell from it. He took a glance at it, his heart trembled in emotion, and the image reminded him of his mission to Morristown. It was a photo of his younger sister who went missing. The little girl was with her father; on their way home, they had an accident with his father dying instantly while his sister went missing. Benjamin was nineteen years old, while his sister was just fifteen years old. He spent his last four years looking for her; he vowed not to return home until he found her. Many thoughts ran through his mind as memories of his past played before his eyes. The buzzing of his phone brought him out of his reveries. He glanced at the caller ID, and with a deep sigh, he answered the call. “Young master, your mother insists on having a meeting with y
Chapter 6 - List Of Properties Recently Purchased
An evil smirk formed immediately by the side of Benjamin’s lips; his eyes darted from the guard to James. He chuckled softly. “Someone had stopped me from entering because I wasn’t properly dressed.’ Benjamin intoned. James’s expression went from mild to fury. How could a common guard stop his master from entering the Grand Land Hotel? His hand hurled at the face of the guard, and the sound of the slap echoed. The guard staggered backwards with a few of his teeth leaving his mouth, leaving the onlookers in extreme shock; a loud gasp escaped their mouths. “How dare you? Do you have a death wish?” James barked; his voice was sharp but dangerous. The once arrogant guard was now trembling in fear, he did the unthinkable by trying to humiliate the young master. Something his manager would never try to do. Seeing the scene, Benjamin adjusted his cap to hide his face; the onlookers were taking records. The guards fathom what their young master had done and immediately cleared the scene.
Chapter 7 - That's him!
“I am here to pick you up,” she muttered flatly. Benjamin hopped in as the car zoomed off. Meanwhile, Eva Penny was standing a few meters away. She felt a surge of anger seeing Benjamin in a car with a woman. She wondered what the lady saw in him. She hissed a sigh of frustration and disgust. “How is your father,” Benjamin asked. Ariana and Benjamin were both seated across from each other; he felt uneasy. The only woman he had sat with in the last few years was Nora, but sitting with Arianna felt different. Ariana was born into wealth, and she groomed herself to perfection. ”Dad is fine and doing great, better than the last few years. All thanks to you. ” she retorted, “although we are still investigating how he got poisoned.” Benjamin sipped his drink and nodded, “That’s good to know.” Ariana looked at him confused; she had a lot on her mind to spew. She didn’t know how to say them without getting Benjamin upset. “Do you like the wine?” She inquired. “Yeah,” She shifted f
Chapter 8 - Jeffery (Snake's) Defeat
Ariana stepped forward, her face was etched in worry and concern. “Jeffrey, I am the elder’s daughter, and I apologise for what my guest did to Terry.” Jeffrey knew Davis’s family were not a match for the Long’s family, but not doing anything would ruin his reputation. His ego took over him; his gaze darted from Ariana to Benjamin, who kept a calm demeanour. Jeffrey felt irritated by Benjamin’s audacity, it was obvious that Benjamin wasn’t scared of him. “Young man, you should go on your knees and apologise to him before something bad happens to you.” He commanded. Benjamin sniffed as he spoke casually, “I am not in a good mood today; you should stay away from me.” Jeffrey’s eyes popped in disbelief; his hand curled into a fist. He was beginning to lose his cool. And at any moment from now, this matter might escalate. “What did you just say,” Benjamin sighed in frustration, “I hate to repeat myself. You should let me be.” Ariana leaned forward and whispered. “Mr. Scott, you are d
Chapter 9 - General Hospital In Morristown
Chapter 9 “Yeah, I am listening.” He replied softly. “Where did you get the bank card, and how did you learn to fight?” she asked while still keeping her eyes on the road. Benjamin was caught off guard by her question, and he sighed deeply. “Oh! The card. I got it after helping a dying man just the same way I helped your grandfather.” He lied. “My master taught me martial arts.” “If he accepted a card from someone, why then did he refuse to take anything from us?” She thought inwardly. “Your master must be a great martial artist.” She muttered. Benjamin nodded. A few hours ago, she thought he would be spending his time in the hospital but the unexpected happened. He humiliated Jeffrey and his gang, but her mind was restless. She was scared that Jeffrey would return to attack Benjamin. When they arrived at his apartment, the car came to a halt. Benjamin alighted from the car. “Mr. Scott, I am sorry for what happened. If you need anything you can contact me.” Her voice was smoot
Chapter 10 - Morristown Police Station
The morning sun poured through the window as Benjamin sat across the thick grey mat in the centre of his room. The smell of incense lingered in the air. Benjamin was focused on his meditation, calm and composed. Four loud deliberate knocks echoed through the apartment. Benjamin was distracted, he glanced at his time. It was too early for a visitor, he knew he wasn’t expecting anyone. He frowned as he stood up and walked towards the door. The knock became insistent now. Just when he opened the door, his gaze fell on four uniformed officers standing at the entrance with their gazes all fixated on Benjamin like predators. The one in the front has a sunglass on, and he raised his badge. “I am Detective Xavier. Are you Benjamin Scott?” Benjamin’s brow was raised higher than the other. “Yes, I am Benjamin Scott?” “You are under arrest. Step outside. Keep your hand visible.” He commanded. “What have I done? Who sent you?” Benjamin’s voice was sharp and firm. Two officers from beh
