Chapter 8

He was woken up by the butler with just a clap. Richard was too lazy to stand up. He was sleeping peacefully without an worry for the first time in his life.

"Young master! It's time for school." Desmond said.

"I'm tired." Desmond grunted.

"Do you want me to go tell your grandfather?" Desmond asked.

Richard struggled to get out of bed. He eyed Desmond before he walked into the bathroom, took his bath finished up and wore a blue chinos trouser and a white polo. He wore a sneaker and his bag had already been packed by his butler.

He got downstairs and the maid has arranged the dinning table.

"Good morning sir." They all bowed as they chorused.

He had bread and jaw with tea.

"Where is my grandfather?" Richard asked.

"He'll be down shortly." Desmond answered. Just before Richard could take another bite of his bread,he heard his grandfather's voice.

"Good morning son! How was your night." Richmond asked.

"Good morning grandpa. My night was fine, yours?" Richard stood up.

"Sit down son. I slept like a baby. You don't know how happy I am to find you." Richmond said as he sat down, joining Richard at the dinning. Richard could only smile.

"You remind me of your father. The both of you look alike." Richmond said.

"Yes, whenever I'm in the living room,I always stare at the picture. I look so much like him. I wonder how he was when he was alive." Richard said.

"He was the nicest, hardworking, goal getter. He was everything and it hurts losing him." Richmond said as Desmond gave him an handkerchief which he used in cleaning in eyes.

"Grandpa. Don't worry. I'll try my possible best to achieve more than my father. I'll make sure you don't even have the chance to miss him." Richard assured and Richmond smiled.

"Thank you. Thanks for coming into my life. Thanks for coming back. I didn't know what to do since last month. Wanted to sell all of my properties. Thank God you finally made it." Richmond said and Richard hugged him.

"I'm happy I came back too. I promise to make you happy." Richard assured.

"Have a nice day at school dear. Don't let me take your time." Richmond said and Richard stood up.

"Thanks grandpa. Can I just call you father instead? I've never had a father figure in my life." Richard asked.

"Sure son! Call me father if you want." Richmond answered.

Richard hugged him and kissed his cheeks.

The Rolls-Royce he had picked before was parked outside already with the driver waiting outside for him.

Desmond opened the door for him.

"Wait! Are you going with me?" Richard asked as Desmond wanted to come in again.

"Yes young master. I have to. What if something happens to you?" He answered.

"No! Don't worry. I'll go on my own." Richard replied.

"Then you'll go with at least two bodyguards then." Desmond said.

"What? No I don't want that." He stomped his feet on the ground.

"I'm sorry sir but I have to follow you around. That's my job." Desmond answered and got it he the car with him.

The driver drove to his school and parked right in front. There was no one outside so no one saw him coming down.

"Let's go to the chancellor's office young master." Desmond said.

"Why? What for?" Richard asked.

"So we can inform him about you. You can't be treated as the boy who won a scholarship anymore. He needs to know you're Richard Campbell, son of Richmond Campbell.

"Fine." Richard said as the both went into the chancellor's block.

Immediately the secretary saw them, she asked them to sit and wait.

"Just tell him someone from the Campbell's is here." Desmond said and she left.

She came out and they were allowed into his office immediately.

"Welcome sir. You are very much welcome." The chancellor stood up and bowed to Desmond.

"You shouldn't be bowing to me. You should bow to him." Desmond pointed at Richard and the chancellor raised his brow.

"Why should I bow to this lowlife? He shouldn't even be here in the first place." The chancellor said and Desmond shaked his head.

"This is Richard Campbell. The grandson of Mr Richmond Campbell and the soon to be CEO of the Campbell consortium." Desmond informed and the chancellor bowed.

"I'm so sorry sir. I'm really sorry. I didn't know you were the grandson of Mr Richmond. Pardon my manners." The chancellor shook Richard's hand and Desmond removed his hand.

"Enough! Mr Richmond asked me to come inform you about this. That would be all for now. Any mistake from this school,Mr Richmond would take over. Please inform your board members." Desmond threatened and we left the office before he could even utter a word.

"I'll like to go for shopping. Some of the clothes in my room aren't my type." Richard said and Desmond nodded.

"Okay young master. I'll drop you off there and I'll go run some errands, when you're almost done call me and I'll be there." Desmond said and they left.

Richard walked into the huge shopping mall after Desmond dropped him off.

He never thought he would ever shop in such a huge place in his entire life.

One of the workers in the mall came to meet him.

"Good morning sir. Welcome and how may I help you." She smiled.

"I just want to shop for some clothes." Richard answered and she directed him to the clothes section.

He finished up and went to the cashier. To his greatest surprise,he met Scott and Chloe who just finished shopping too.

"What are you doing here? Did your boss send you on an errand or what?" Scott mocked.

"I came here to shop." Richard answered and they both laughed.

"I'm sure the beatings you received in jail has messed up with your brain. You? Shopping here?" Chloe asked.

"What? Can't i shop here?" Richard eyed.

"Hey! Scott called and the woman who had directed Richard to the cloth section came forward.

"Why would you let such people in? Why are you mixing lowlifes with sophisticated people like us? What if he decides to rob us?" Scott yelled which drew the attention of the other shoppers.

It was then the woman noticed how Richard was dressed.

"Why did you come in here when you know you can't pay for what you what to buy sir? Or are you here to steal them?" She accused.

"What do you mean? Do I look like someone who can't pay for what I got?" Richard yelled.

"Then pay for it. Right here right now." Chloe sad and everybody was watching with keen interest.

"How much worth of clothes did he buy?" Scott asked curiously.

"It's $810,000." The woman took the bag from Richard and examined it well before talking.

Everybody all gasped at the amount of the clothes he bought considering how he was dressed.

"Pay for this now sir." The woman said and Richard brought our the black card his grandfather had given to him.

The woman inserted the card and everyone smiled as they all thought Richard had won.

"Declined sir." The woman said and Chloe and Scott laughed. The crowd joined too and Richard was embarrassed.

"Try it again." Richard said as he was annoyed. Why would his grandfather give him a fake black card? It was all starting to feel like a dream instead of reality now.

"I should have known. I should have known this was more of a dream than a reality. If this doesn't work, Chloe and Scott will make of me." He said to himself as he worried.

"Declined again sir." The woman eyed him and the crowd began to laugh and insult him. Some even made videos. He was embarrassed.
