Zhen Lee listened dumbfounded as Zi Han revealed the truth. Even after hearing it straight from the one man in charge, he couldn’t believe they had really made such a costly slip.

“I have seen Jessylene before. It couldn’t have been her,” he said. “I think there is some confusion.”

After a long pause, Zhen Lee replied, “I have never met her personally. But I did see her a few times with Noah and Emir.”

“Not from up close, I believe,” Zi Han probed.

“They were actually quite far. I was using my binoculars to track them.”

“So, you had no way of knowing what Jessylene looks like from up close. Plus, she was wearing a fake wig and glasses this time,” Zi Han explained. “Her getup was too perfect even for you.”

  • A friend indeed

Bridgette couldn’t believe that Zi Han suggested she should allow those two losers to tag along. There was just no way in hell she was going to invite Kwang and his cousin to her pool party.“This isn’t some school tea party where there will be board games and cake,” Bridgette remarked in a snarky voice. “Your poor friends would be completely lost over there. Besides, they wouldn’t even be able to match the standards.”“Then I am not coming as well,” Zi Han replied curtly and prepared to pack his bag.Never in her life had Bridgette felt so humiliated. Not only had Zi Han turned down her invitation in front of her girl gang, but he didn’t even seem bothered to apologize. However, Bridgette Wong wasn’t the type of girl who would accept defeat so easily. As Zi Han was about to walk away, she stopped him.“Alright, your friends can come as well,” she said, dropping her father’s card on the table. “There is the address. Call me when you reach. The party starts at eight tonight, but the r

He had already announced to all his classmates that this year Zi Han was going to break all records and become the youngest martial artist to qualify from Zhuxin.By now, the whole campus was abuzz with talk about the great tournament, and Zi Han had once again become the unwilling center of attention.Kwang knew he had acted way too impulsively, expecting Zi Han to support him, but now that he had shattered his hopes with his stern refusal, there was little else he could do than accept his fate. “Are you really sure you can’t do this for me?” he asked for the last time, hoping to change Zi Han’s mind. “I mean, the last date for registration is next week. You still have plenty of time to think it—”Even before Zi Han could speak, Suyin intervened on his behalf. “You really think Zi Han owes you something? As everyone went to sleep that night, Zi Han stirred up from his bed and walked to the open window. The botch-up at the cleaning company was still plaguing his mind, and the more he thought about it, the more something felt off.The forensic technician in the lab coat appeared before his eyes, and her motives confused him. He wondered how a simple lab worker could shoot her way out, even though she was being guarded by two of Zhen Lee’s most trusted shooters.Besides, a woman who just wanted to run away would have no reason to go after the janitor and kill him with such brutality. It was almost as if she wanted to tie up all loose ends and prevent anyone from blabbering about the cleaning crew’s dirty secrets.“But why would you take the risk? Why go through all this trouble?”Zi Han wondered if the woman was really just a simple forensic technician who happened to get tangled up with the cleaning crew or if there was more to her than she had revealed.“You said Emir had hired you.
