Five men made up the board of Price Ventures, all of whom Lucian remembered vividly.

He took his seat at the end of the rectangular meeting table. All of them glanced at him at once, their disdain evident in how tightly drawn their faces were.

Amira sat in a corner not far from Lucian.

The board members whispered amongst themselves as they waited for Vincent and Adriana to join them.

Lucian kept glancing at his phone. He was a stickler for time, and the steady tapping of his right foot against

"Adriana, I'm heading for the office. Where are you?" Vincent shouted as he hooked his cufflinks. He heard her moving about in the bathroom, but she didn't come out."What are you doing? We are going to be late. Remember, there's a meeting with very important people."She opened the bathroom door, clad in a bathrobe, her head wrapped high in a towel.Vincent's face tightened when his eyes fell on her."Why aren't you ready? Didn't you hear anything I just said?""I heard you. There's no need to shout. It's not like you can't handle the meeting without me."Vincent stopped what he was doing. He dipped a finger in his ear to scratch it. He probably hadn't heard her correctly."Excuse me?""You heard me, Vincent. I don't have to be present for every meeting and all that office crap. Handle it. That's why you are the man.""We told them that they would be meeting with the two of us. I don't want to come off as a liar. Don't do this, Adriana.""Come up with an excuse or something. Say I wa

Lucian dropped the phone on Grey's table. Everything Maya had sent him was displayed on the screen, the chats they had been having since she contacted him.If he hadn't been given a restraining order, he would have barged into that building to save his daughter from those thieves."I can't believe they would actually do this to my little girl. And Adriana, what kind of mother is she?"Grey picked up the phone and read through the messages that Maya had sent to Lucian. She had told him everything, about how Adriana had started treating her badly since she overheard that they hadn't kicked her out because of the trust fund."I had a strong feeling back then. I just can't remember why I did that. We'd already set some money aside for Maya's trust. Then, before I lost my memory, I... I don't know. I felt the need to lock up more in Maya's name.""It's a good thing you did. From what I am reading here, Adriana has her plan mapped out thoroughly.""We have to stop them. Can't we get Maya ou

Since the first hearing, where Maya could not bring herself to testify, she had been kept under lock and key, under the scrutinizing eyes of Vincent and Adriana.Things changed drastically for poor Maya. She no longer had the freedom to visit her friends like she used to.And her friends weren't allowed to come to the house either. She was put under very strict regulation. No more shopping, no more hanging out on weekends. The only place she was allowed to go was school, and a driver was assigned to pick her up at a particular time."You think you're clever," Vincent sneered at her.It became worse. She wasn't allowed to roam around the house, for fear that she would run away.Neither Adriana nor Vincent was ready to deal with that kind of situation, not when they had a case to settle with Lucian. All meals were brought to Maya's room by a maid. The only time she was allowed to step out of her room was when she was going to school.Life became miserable for Maya, until she received th

"I know what I saw and felt, Amira. Something was up with Maya."They were in Lucian's penthouse, and he had been pacing the living room since they got in."Maybe she's just shaken. Having to sit there and talk can be a lot for a fourteen-year-old kid."Lucian was not about to agree. He knew his daughter so well. Maya was not the type to get frightened just because she had to talk in front of a few people. She was very outspoken, no matter the number of people before her. She had been like that ever since she could participate in school plays and sports. He just couldn't shake the feeling that something was off."So she didn't get to tell you what was wrong with her?""No, Vincent walked in just in time. And you should have seen her face. She was scared to the bone. My poor baby.""I don't know, Lucian. Maybe you are taking this too far. She probably wasn't happy that she had to testify, and that was why she broke down like that.""Amira, I know my daughter. Unless something is wrong,

A date had been fixed for the court case to take place. Lucian had assured Amira not to fret, as everything would work out well, and she wouldn't have to go to jail just because she had tried to help him.Because of the nature of their businesses and their status in society, they had agreed that the case should be handled through arbitration. The meeting room at Price Ventures was made the venue. Both parties were present with their defense lawyers and the judge, who was to serve as arbitrator. Before the judge arrived, Vincent walked over to Lucian, smiling broadly."I hope you haven't forgotten our deal?""I don't see Maya here. If you uphold your end, I don't see any reason not to keep mine.""There's been a change of heart in this. I want eighty percent of the profits. Only then would Maya testify."Lucian's head snapped up. He knew Vincent was one greedy bastard, but requesting eighty percent was a lot."Take seventy, or no deal."Vincent grinned evilly."Still bargaining at this

"What is so important that you had to call me into the room?" Adriana was already in her nightwear, a glass of champagne in her hand. Vincent stood beside the huge mahogany bed frame and rested his hands on the post of the bed canopy. "Would you sit first? You like asking questions before doing what I ask." "That's because I have the Real Housewives show to catch up on. You know I don't like missing that show, not for anything." "Even when it's about millions of dollars." Adriana stopped midway through sipping her champagne. "Then you should have started with that in the first place." She dropped the champagne glass on the dresser. "I'm listening." Vincent told her about Lucian's offer and what he wanted in return. "Hell no. There's no fucking way I would allow that to happen." "You haven't even heard all of what I have to say yet." Adriana picked up her champagne, rose to her feet, and drank some. "No, I want that bitch Amira to suffer. She thinks she's smart,
