Walking down the road, he set out to move on with his life and do as his master had ordered him.  Walking down the street a car screeched towards him, A little farther beside him an old man was about to cross the road, Without thinking he ran over and pulled him away just in time, both of them falling to the floor.

“Get out of the way you fools, are you fucking blind?!” the driver yelled, speeding forward without a care in the world if they were alright. “If you want to die then do that elsewhere!”

“Are you okay?” Lewis questioned the old man, helping him to his feet.

“Of course.” He nodded, a big smile spread across his wrinkled face. “Thank you for saving me, youngsters drive blindly lately.” He huffed.

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Lewis nodded at the man, turning around to walk away, the old man grabbed his arm. “Is something wrong?” Lewis arched his brows.

“I want to appreciate you for saving my life.” The old man said with a big smile.

“There’s no need to do that,” Lewis assured him.

“I insist, it’s such a hassle looking out for others.” He smiled, shoving a small box into Lewis’s hand. “Everything you need to know is in here.”

Staring down at it in confusion, he raised his head to ask what the old man meant but he was nowhere to be found. “What is this?”

His gaze was more serious as he slowly opened the box, and confusion spread across his face when he saw the item inside. “A key?” He mumbled faintly.

Lewis gazed at it more carefully, recalling the old man’s words about him figuring it all out with this key, how’s that possible? Lewis could tell that this was no ordinary key, especially with its unique lock and strange shape.

“What’s this for?” he wondered, his eyes still gazing at the key curiously, forgetting the previous drama. He was silent for a moment thinking about what to do with the key, his gaze returned to the black box. Inside was a small folded paper.

Lewis frowned, took the paper and unravelled it, there were faded scribbles on it but he could still read it, the message had explained the use of the key.

“White Fang residence?” Lewis mumbled quietly.

The place was very well known, anyone who lived around surely knew where the white fang residence was. It was a sacred place.

Recalling more about the place, he was sure he knew about it and recalled people had talked about it before he entered prison. There were so many rumors that humans couldn’t touch anything there and that only chosen people could go near.

“The place had remained mysteriously quiet and no one had dared trespass, There were people who lived there but they weren’t known and those people were rumored to be rich Trillionaires with hidden identities.

Raising an eyebrow he recalled the scrawny old man that almost seemed as though he was homeless. There was no way he could get this key if he was that poor.

Why would that man give him the key… a total stranger to such a place so many people would die to have access to?

Recalling the old man’s words he decided to go to the White Fang’s residence, there had to be a reason he was given the key, he had caught a glimpse of a dragon crest on the man’s shirt and knew this could mean something—- maybe related to the trance?

Boarding a cab he stopped a few metres away from the White Fang residence since the driver was too scared to go there, he got out and walked towards the gate, a man  in black suit watched Lewis with a stern gaze.

“Aren’t you aware that you shouldn’t be here? People of your status aren’t welcome here, leave at once!” He said furiously. “You’re nothing but a lowly mutt.”

Lewis ignored him, if this place was related to the trance and what his master had told him, then he would have to find a way in. Ignoring the man, he walked  through the gate which wasn’t locked but two huge and intimidating guards stopped his steps instantly.

“No one is allowed in here.” One of them gave a stern warning. “Leave while your limbs are intact.”

Lewis turned to look at him coldly. “I have something important to do here.” He wanted to walk in but they stopped him once again.

Both guards scanned his appearance and frowned. “Have you gone insane? Someone like you can’t have anything to do here, this place isn’t for poor people like you:”

Taking out the key from his pocket, at the sight of it the two guards were in awe seeing it was an original key that had the dragon crest, immediately realizing their mistakes they bowed their heads in respect.

“Forgive us, master, we have made a grievous mistake.”

They immediately let him be, moving out of his path.

Lewis was shocked by this change of attitude, Kaelan who had been watching this turned to the guards with a frown. “What are you doing? Have you two turned stupid that you don’t know a con anymore?”

The guards remained calm and looked at Kaelan. “He’s holding the original key which gives him access to stay here so he’s allowed.”

Karl rolled his eyes. “This is absolute nonsense.”

“Does he look like someone who can have the key? He’s a con artist and must have stolen it.” Kaelan accused.

Lewis who paid no heed to them anymore walked towards the house, his eyes exploring the surroundings, looking at the luxurious building in front of him, one he had never sighted before, he looked at the address and number, comparing it with that on the paper.

“This is the place right?” He asked no one.

Walking to the building, he pushed the door open revealing the luxurious interiors. What grasped his attention the most was the welcome mat on the floor and above, he could tell this place was arranged for someone to come stay

Just then the ring around his finger tightened, causing him an excruciating pain, a burning sensation that made his mind foggy, The pain suddenly went away leaving no trace as though it never happened. He scammed the ring that had turned into a dragon carving.

Forgetting about it he was more focused on his surrounding, there had to be a reason he was given the key and why he had felt that pain few seconds ago.

Walking further inside with caution he found a box with three compartments, he looked at it curiously before opening one of the compartments and saw it was a key, a displeased look spread across his face.

What did he need more keys for? He wasn’t ready for such types of games, he already had a lot to look around here and now more keys?

Is this what his master had prepared for him? Could it be that the old man was the guardian who was sent to him? Many questions remained roaming in his mind.

“I’ll come back later.” He sighed, turning around had walked out of the house, if he decided to explore the entire house, it would take a while which he didn’t have time for. He had things he needed to sort out at the moment.

Taking a cab to his place, he was eager to see them as it had been so long, craving his mothers cooking and the time he spent with his father, he paid the driver and got out, a faint smile on his lips quickly faded at the sight of the men in black clothing. Who were they?

Lewis straightened his shoulders and made his way into the house ready to pull his mom into his palms but was stunned to see that the door lock that had been damaged before he was taken away was left the same. The house was in a mess and poor situation, water leaking from the roof and rats running around Like they owned the place.

“Father?” He called out but there was no response.

“Mother?” He called out again.

Suddenly there was a loud grunt and then a man flew over the room, hitting the wall and falling to the floor in pain, coughing out blood he grimaced in pain.

“Father!” Lewis quickly ran to the old man, recognizing the voice he gazed up in surprise.

“Lewis? Is that you?” He gently reached his hand to touch his face, light tears daring to fall out of his eyes.

“Who did this to you? Where’s mother?”.

“For someone who just got out of prison, you sure talk a lot.” A voice erupted in the room, a young man in his late twenties walked in, followed by a dozen men all dressed in black. He stood out in his white suit and brown tousled hair as he gazed at Lewis in disdain.

“Who are you?” Lewis asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Seems your time in that cage made you forget who I am.” The man glared at Lewis.

“Drop on your knees and beg for mercy now that I’m still in a good mood.”

“Where is my mom?” Lewis ignored his words and looked around the disfigured house, Everything was a mess and he could only wonder how his parents had managed to live in such poor conditions.

“There’s no need to ask about them, you should be more worried about yourself.” The young man smirked, a hint of malice whipped in his eyes.

“What have you done to them?” Lewis demanded, stepping forward with his fists clenched.

“You should have stayed there and let death come to you, now I’m going to make your life even more miserable.” Maxwell stepped forward, a cruel glint in his eyes as he gazed down on Lewis.

“Don’t make me ask again.” Lewis clenched his fists in anger, his blood boiling in rage.

Maxwell burst into laughter, his men fanning behind him as they readied themselves for a fight. “You have no right to make demands or prove your strength in front of me, you're nothing but a fly I can crush beneath my feet.”

“Lewis please don’t get involved with him, don’t you recall he’s one of the top ranked fighters from dark prism” one of his father’s apprentice, Alaric who had been hiding behind the wall tells Lewis, fear clouded his eyes as he crouched down, conversing his head with his hand.

He too had faced a fair share of the Dark Prism’s wrath and he had become so traumatized and was scared to be seen and feared that he might be killed.

Without warning one of the men swung a blow at Lewis’ face, Lewis stepped aside and missed the blow by a few inches, catching the man’s hand and twisting it, causing it to dislocate.

“I’m not making demands.” Lewis said as the man cried out in pain, falling to his knees, Lewis didn’t hesitate further and kicked him, sending him flying across the room and dropping dead. Shooting a glare at Max. “This is a warning.”

“You’ll pay for that!” Max’s expression darkened, he featured and two men simultaneously attacked Lewis. These men were some of his top fighters in his squad so there was no way Lewis the scrawny guy could actually defeat them. A wicked smile trailed on his lips.

Max yearned to see Lewis beg for mercy, little did he know what he was up for.

Lewis ducked under the first punch and delivered an elbow jab to the second man’s gut. He spun and drove his knee into the man’s face, blood sprayed as the man fell backward, holding his neck as he gasped for air. Grabbing the second man by his hair, he drove his face to the floor, smashing it without hesitation.

“Who’s next.” Lewis asked without breaking a sweat, his face emotionless as he stared at the unwanted visitors.

Max was taken aback by how two of his strongest fighters had been wasted with so much ease when he had expected the opposite, he quickly wiped off the surprised expression from his face  and snorted. “You really think you can take us all? You seem strong but not strong enough to take me out, I’m in one of the biggest gangs and a top member at that, prepare to die by my hands.”

“For a man, you sure talk too much,” Lewis expressed his disdain as he looked slightly unbothered. “And you seem weak.”

Max’s pride was hurt hearing the tone Lewis spoke to him, he wasn't going to let him scot free, he threw a series of punches at Lewis but they were easily dodged with ease.

“You’re slow.” Lewis told him, making him even angrier. Lewis blocked his fists and countered his second punch with a heavier punch, breaking Max’s fingers: max screamed in pain as he tried to wriggle his way out, he lifted his leg to kick Lewis but his footing was countered with a punch to his face, sending him flying as he landed on his men, causing them to fall all together.

“Leave right now.” Lewis warned.

Max grunted in pain as he slowly lifted himself up, staring at Lewis with so much hatred, wondering what it was about Lewis that had changed so much, how had he gotten this powerful.

“Do you take me for a wimp? I’m not done with you.” Max burst out laughing. “I would make sure you’re taught a lesson.”

“Can’t you leave when you have the chance? Or would you prefer to die?” Alaric, who had been hiding, snapped at Max who ignored his words, if words spread that he had gotten beaten by someone as scrawny as Lewis, he would be a laughing stock among the lower ranked members and would be looked down upon by his father. He wouldn’t want to let that happen.

“I’ve no choice than to kill you.” Max spat without hesitation. “I’ll break every bone in that goddam body of yours!” He yelled, signaling his remaining men to attack Lewis, at first they seemed hesitant, considering what they had just seen.

“Move you fools!” Max ordered them sternly, they ran towards Lewis but their moves against his were unmatched, none of them were able to lay a finger on him and instead got beat up so much they would barely be able to move even after seeking medical attention.

“Darn it.” Max but his lips and attacked Lewis who was fighting off some of his men, just when he thought he had gotten Lewis he felt a heavy punch hit his belly causing him to be smashed into the ground with immense impact.

“I hate dirty fights.” Lewis reLoganed, set to end him right there and then.

“Stop!” A woman’s voice erupted, Lewis jerked his head to her direction and paused in surprise.

Turning to see the familiar voice he was stunned to see her, a vibrant young woman in her early twenties. “I see your barbaric ways never left you.” Melissa scorned walking up to him but left a reasonable distance between them.

“What are you doing here? How is Aliison?” Lewis asked.

She twisted her face into a frown. “Pathetic thing, what makes you think you would see my cousin? You will die here.”

Lewis was confused by her words, he hadn't always flowed well with Melissa in the past but she had never spoken to him with this much contempt. “How dare you even hit a member of the Halter family? I will make sure your limbs are cut off!” she snapped, turning to Max who was struggling to get on his feet. “You better end him.” she said before walking out.

Suddenly his father's piercing scream could be heard outside.
