Chapter 1

[Have you bought the gift I wanted? I'm waiting for you and will reward you with a wonderful night with you]

Just as Daniel was leaving the bag store, he received a text message from his girlfriend. He couldn't help but smile.

After reading it, Daniel almost couldn't believe it. His eyes immediately lit up.

He read it over and over again, trying to understand the text properly. "Does this mean Lyla and I are heading towards a serious relationship?"

His heart was beating fast. During their relationship, Lyla had always resisted Daniel's attempts to touch her. She had even refused to make their relationship public.

Daniel never questioned this; he believed she had her own reasons. He was willing to make her happy and always set aside a large portion of his salary for his girlfriend.

Daniel wiped the sweat off his body. He had just finished work and remembered that it was his girlfriend's birthday. He remembered Lyla often mentioning the leather bag she wanted. So he deliberately saved for three months to buy Lyla an expensive bag as a birthday present.

Daniel was about to type a reply, but he deliberately decided against it. "It'll be a surprise for Lyla."

Daniel saw that it was almost 8 p.m. He didn't want to be late, so he didn't rush to Lyla's apartment without changing out of his work clothes. He thought it wouldn't be a problem for Lyla.

Just as Daniel arrived at his lover's apartment door, his heart became extremely anxious. His chest was pounding. Sweat suddenly drenched his exotic body.

This would be a first for both him and Lyla. This made him extremely anxious.

His mind couldn't stop thinking about how Lyla would welcome him and how they would have the sex he'd been waiting for. It would strengthen their relationship. The more he thought about it, the faster his heart beat.

Daniel took a deep breath before knocking on the apartment door. After knocking several times, there was no answer from Lyla.

"Was she waiting for me to come in?"

Daniel couldn't stop smiling. Without hesitation, he opened the door. As he thought, it was unlocked. "Lyla really is waiting for me."

He stepped slowly into the apartment. He imagined Lyla's beautiful body and the way he would touch it tonight. "This is going to be a wonderful night."

His eyes moved, trying to guess which room his lover was in. Previously, he had always escorted Lyla outside. She had never let him in. And after confirming it, Daniel headed for one of the doors he was sure was Lyla's room.

"Yes, there... go on, honey."

"This is amazing."

Just as he was about to open the door, his steps stopped as his heart skipped a beat.

Of course, he recognized that voice.

"That's Lyla's voice."

"Where's that loser?" A man's voice echoed, echoing with a sigh. "Is he still busy working with sand and iron?"

“Why do you have to bring it up? I was just waiting for the right time to leave that man.” Lyla sighed. She paused for a moment. “He’s useless. Let’s not bring it up at this special moment. I just want us to have fun tonight.”

Daniel’s heart was beating fast, but this time it wasn’t from nervousness. It was from burning.

He couldn’t believe it, hearing those words from Lyla. He had always loved her so much. So how could she cheat on him?

“Who has she been cheating on me with?”

“Honey, are you sure I’ll get a good position at that company after I graduate?” Lyla asked coquettishly.

“Yes, of course, honey. You will get a good position. Don’t worry about it. As long as you’re with me, the doors of Welles, Inc. will be open to you.”

Welles.inc? Daniel could hardly believe it. It was the company where he worked. And that voice? Daniel, it was familiar.

It was like he had heard his heart explode. He certainly recognized that voice.

“You know, my dad is the big boss there. Don’t worry.”

Daniel felt his heart sink even further. He was certain the man was none other than Billy, the son of his boss, Adam Welles.

He was a spoiled brat known for squandering his father’s money. In fact, Billy had been a burden on the Welles family. Almost all the employees at Welles.inc knew this. As far as Daniel knew, Billy had a bad reputation, especially in love.

He was known to have forced his girlfriend to have an abortion. When she refused, Billy had someone kill her. The consequences of his actions were quickly resolved by his father.

Daniel swallowed the bitterness in his heart. His mind was truly on fire. He couldn’t believe that Lyla, whom he loved so much, would willingly do that just for a position at the company.

"After this, I'm going to ask my father to get rid of that man," Billy spoke dismissively.

A soft sigh escaped Lyla's lips. Then she spoke in a halting voice. "Are you going to make him jobless?"

Billy didn't stop his body movements on top of Lyla. "Do you feel sorry for him? Don't tell me you still love him." Billy's face was cynical.

Lyla sneered, shook her head, and gently touched Billy's cheeks. "Of course not. I've wanted to get rid of that poor man for a long time. It's just that he can still help me a little. He's a persistent man and quite kind to me. Besides, he's always worked for me. But even so, I never let him touch me."

Lyla sighed loudly. "But that doesn't hide the fact that he's a useless man. He doesn't even have a good family. He's practically trash, and certainly not a good match for me."

Daniel couldn't take it anymore. The voice he heard from Lyla was truly hurting him. Daniel clenched his fists, his eyes fixed on the wooden door in front of him.

Just as Lyla had said, those words reopened a wound Daniel had tried so hard to forget. He never even knew who his biological mother was. All this time, Daniel had only confided in Lyla about his problems, and he couldn't believe she'd tell a scoundrel like Billy. His trust had been betrayed.

A gasp rang out. "Oh, besides being poor, he's so pathetic. His mother was probably nothing more than a prostitute who didn't even know who his father was."

Damn it!

Daniel couldn't stand the insults. His fists clenched even tighter. His blood boiled, and his eyes blazed.

In a fit of rage, Daniel kicked the door with one foot. He could clearly see Billy on top of his girlfriend.

Suddenly, he could hear them both calling his name in panic.

"Damn it. You!"
