A waiter served them their meals and while eating, they continued to converse and make jokes.

Sandra told him a lot about her childhood and youthful memories as well as his father's.

She encouraged him to enjoy his youth to the fullest but should never be carried away by youthful exuberance.

He still had a bright future ahead of him and must not destroy it by engaging in vices that'd ruin him.

After their meals, Sandra McAllen gave him a very serious look. It was the first time Adolphus was seeing that look.

All those while, the woman had been all playful and chatty.

“Look, Adolphus. I'm not going to meet my grandson again in some fancy hotel. The next time I call on you, you're coming home to see me."

“Do you understand me?"

“Yes Nana. I understand you."

“Good. Your father's wife shouldn't be the reason you stay away from your home. You have every right to visit there anytime you like."

“You can even spend the night sometimes."

“Of course." Adolphus nodded. “Thank you, Nana."

Adolphus fell on his knees. “You gave me all your money and made me a billionaire overnight. I don't know how else to show my gratitude."

“Stand up, now." Sandra ordered, keeping a very serious expression. She didn't like the sight of Adolphus kneeling before her. The money she gave him was like compensation for all the hardship he and his mother had to go through because of his father's foolishness.

Sandra McAllen was still referring to his father's past actions as foolish even before Adolphus. However, she advised him not to disrespect his father because of that.

Nicolas McAllen acted like many youth would do in such situations.

Nicolas was around Adolphus's age when he got her mother pregnant and sent her away. He went ahead and covered his atrocious act with a lie which his parents believed.

At that time, Adolphus's grandfather was still alive.

After Adolphus stood up and sat on his seat, he reached for the bag he came with and took out a box of jewelry, gently handing it over to his grandmother.

“Nana, I know that this is small compared to what you did for me. However, I'd like you to have it as a token of my gratitude to you."

"Please, don't refuse it.”

He placed it on her hands and lifted his face to look at his grandmother. There were tears in her eyes, tears of joy and fulfillment.

She was happy for the gesture though but more happy to finally see and chat with her grandson.

She had just a granddaughter and never expected that a grandson would show up one day.

Sandra took the box of jewelry, opened it and smiled while wiping the tears in her eyes.

“Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness."

She brought it out and gave it to Adolphus who helped her wear the necklace.

“This is the first gift I got from my grandson, I'll treat it specially.”

Sandra McAllen had a lot of jewelry, not including the ones she gave to her son's wife and granddaughter.

Now that she has a grandson, she intends to hand over the remainder of her jewelry to whoever Adolphus was going to marry.

“Thank you." She muttered an appreciation after Adolphus had helped her with the necklace.

Sandra took out her phone and called on the waiter at the place.

“Please, can you take a picture of the two of us?" She said, handing over her phone to the young waiter before them.

Without hesitating, the man collected the photo and took a few photos of the grandmother and grandson.

The woman wanted to hold onto that picture in case she didn't get to have another time to spend with Adolphus.

Adolphus, on the other hand, didn't see the need for that. He believed that they still had so much time to spend together in the future.

However, he didn't object when the picture was being taken. He even held tightly onto his grandmother.

Just then, his phone began to ring and he excused himself to answer it.

As usual, it was his roommates, Donald and Glover who had been worried about him so much that they searched the whole school looking for him.

“Where the heck have you been, Adolphus? You got us all worried and even Abigail came to check on you.” Donald was the first to speak and he sounded pissed.

“What's going on with you, man? You can always confide in us. And why the heck did you disappear on us?" Glover took the phone and scolded Adolphus who remained quiet.

Amongst all the words they just said to him, the only thing he heard well was that Abigail came to check on him.

He thought about it and concluded that she must have come for her umbrella.

That's right, he was yet to return it to her.

“What did Abigail say to you guys when she came around?" He inquired, and even got them angrier.

“Wait, aren't you going to tell us what happened to you? Or do we not deserve to know what happened after we had to search the whole school because we couldn't reach you.

Adolphus swallowed hard and for a moment, he remained silent with his mouth open.

They had been looking for him.

“Guys, I'm coming over to meet with you right now. We're going to Richmond's party and I'll tell you everything when I get there.”

"Wait for me at the school gate.”

"Did you also know about the party?"

“Yeah, I did. Just wait for me. I'll explain everything to you." Adolphus ended the call and went back to his grandmother.

The latter had seen the look on his face and deduced that it was time to call it a day.

“Let me guess, your friends from school are calling you to come and hang out.” She inquired and Adolphus nodded at her.

“That's right, Nana."

“Have you told them who you are?"

Adolphus was caught off guard by the gesture and hesitated, but Donald quickly reached out and took the bags.“Thank you so much, ma. I'm very sure that we're going to enjoy your food.”Donald was smiling hard as he glanced into the bags and saw many dishes inside. The food will serve them for the rest of the day, and the remainder will be refrigerated and preheated the next day for breakfast. Donald, who had lost his mother since his early teenage years, had so much missed the taste of meals prepared by a mother. He was so looking forward to enjoying the homemade meals on his hands.Gina smiled warmly, nodded a few times with pursed lips, and began to leave the place without looking back. Svetlana wanted to run after her mother, but Richmond held her back. “I'm always here for you, Svet. Don't let all that she said trouble you. Her friends, Hope, and Prisca could not move an inch after the unexpected slap. They just stood at a spot, sobbing and nursing their faces. They were very rude and thought everyone would take shit from them. Unfortunately, Gina was not one to cower and sob because some girls on the same age as her daughter said some horrible things to her.She was a very strong-willed woman and was doing her best to give her two daughters the best life she could afford. Unfortunately, Svetlana had sworn to be foolish, unlike her younger sister, who's a smart teenager. Gina, with bloodshot eyes, turned to face Svetlana, glaring daggers at her daughter. “You are a foolish young lady who's even ashamed of her mother. You're ashamed of who you are. And look at the kind of friends you're keeping.”Gina sucked her teeth while shaking her head in disgust. “I feel sorry for you. And if

Swiftly, Svetlana and Richmond pulled out from each other and turned to the direction of the voice.“I didn't send you to the school to be frolicking with boys. You came here to study." “And even if he's your boyfriend, why did you not introduce him to me so that I can assess him well and see if he's good for you.”Svetlana's mother, Gina Russell, began to close in on them, her hands heavy with two big bags on it.Just the look on Svetlana's face was priceless. Adolphus was enjoying the scene as well as his friends.“Mom?" She muttered and walked up to her mother before whispering."What the hell are you doing here?" “I brought you some home cooked food. “Yeah, I agree with Donald.” Glover commented. “You're becoming too careless, Adolphus and your actions may cost you your education.”"And remember, we're in our final year which are very delicate times. You can't afford to be careless at this time.”"Even though we're yet to comprehend what's going on with you.”“Don't worry about me, guys.
