Chapter 2

"Tsk... get out of the way!" Dion snapped looking at a woman in front of him.

Charlie who had gone limp looked up at the woman, he snorted in annoyance while saying, "Go, Stella."

Stella Amora is the woman's name. Stella is Charlie's best friend who is ready to protect Charlie, even though sometimes she can't do anything. But Stella also has many ways to get Dion to stop bullying Charlie without having to beat the man.

"Heh... Stella! What are you doing here? Don't bother us!" This time it was Kezia who spoke after being silent for a long time.

Stella looked at Kezia with disapproval and then said, "Why? You are bothering my best friend. Why can't I interfere, ha?"

"You damn woman," cursed Jack.

While Dion let out a rough breath, he pushed Stella roughly. Then squatted in front of Charlie. "Our business is not finished yet!" he threatened with a sly smile.

After that Dion just walked away, followed by his friends.

"Bastard!" Stella immediately went over to Charlie to make sure her friend was okay. Stella knew that Dion wouldn't dare hurt her, because Stella and Dion's father were friends. Stella can complain about Dion's actions if she dares to hurt him.

"Charlie, are you okay?" Stella asked, checking Charlie's body from top to bottom.

Charlie smiled and said, "I'm fine."

Charlie got hit again, this time from Stella who was annoyed because Charlie always pretended to be fine. "You think I'm stupid? Look at your face, it's out of shape!" She said, holding Charlie's wound several times.

"If you were smart, you wouldn't ask something that already has an answer," teased Charlie, still able to laugh in front of Stella.

Stella rolled her eyes lazily, then helped Charlie up. "Come on, I'll treat your wound," she said, carrying Charlie slowly away from there.

Stella took Charlie to the campus clinic, Stella painstakingly treated Charlie's wound, occasionally grumbling non-stop.

"I've told you many times to you, that you have to have the courage to fight them. If not, they will do worse than this," scolded Stella with her hands still busy treating Charlie's wounds.

Charlie took a deep breath, then answered, "What if I fight them will stop? Haven't I already fought back, and they are getting more and more vengeful towards me."

Stella thought for a moment. "That's true, but don't worry. I'll talk to my father later, he will talk to Dion's father to stop bothering you," she said smiling.

"No need, don't think too much about me. I'm used to it, besides, we'll graduate soon and I won't see them again," Charlie explained at length.

Stella couldn't accept Charlie's words, the woman snorted in annoyance. After all, Stella is Charlie's best friend, what's wrong if Stella wants to help her best friend?

"It's up to you!" Stella pressed the wound on the corner of Charlie's lip, which made the man wince in pain.

"It hurts, Stella!" said Charlie, grimacing in pain.

Stella didn't pay attention to him, she laughed a little while continuing to treat Charlie's wound.

Drrt..

The sound of a cell phone ringing managed to break the silence in the room, Charlie turned to look at his ringing cell phone. There was an unknown number on his cellphone screen.

"Just accept the call, who knows it's important," said Stella.

At first, Charlie didn't want to receive the call because the number was unknown, but his cell phone rang several times, making Charlie wonder who called him.

Charlie nodded, then shifted the green icon on his cellphone screen. After that, put it to his ear and said, "Hello, who is this?" Charlie was silent for a moment, a few moments later Charlie's expression changed.

"Okay, I'll be right there," Charlie said briefly, then ended the call.

"What's wrong?" Stella was confused by Charlie's panicked expression.

Charlie didn't answer, he put all his things in the bag. Then got up from his seat, his whole body felt pain at the moment. But anyway, Charlie has to go.

"Where are you going, Charlie!" Stella asked again.

Charlie looked at Stella for a moment and then said, "I have to go to the hospital now, Mommy passed out earlier and the neighbor has already taken her to the hospital."

Stella was surprised to hear Charlie's words, of course, Stella knew Charlie's mother because she often visited Charlie's house.

"I'm coming, we'll just get in my car so we can get there quickly," said Stella.

Charlie thought for a moment, there was nothing wrong with Stella's words. If he goes by public transport, it will take longer to get to the hospital. Not long after, Charlie nodded in agreement.

After that they both immediately went to the hospital to check on Monica's condition, during the trip Charlie couldn't calm down at all. If something happens to his mother, he will not be able to forgive himself for not being able to take care of his mother.

A few minutes later, they finally arrived at the hospital. Charlie immediately ran to the ICU, according to what his neighbor informed him earlier. Although his body was still sore from Dion's punch earlier, Charlie didn't care. While Stella ran behind Charlie.

"Charlie, wait!" shouted Stella who was left quite far from Charlie.

While Charlie didn't care, he looked for the ICU room himself. "Excuse me, could you show me which side of the ICU room?" he asked the nurse he met.

"You just have to walk straight and turn left, that's where the ICU is," the nurse replied kindly.

"Thank you." After saying that, Charlie ran back in the direction the nurse had shown earlier.

Charlie smiled when he saw that his neighbor who called earlier was in front of the ICU room, and he immediately approached him.

"Auntie, how is mommy? Why Mommy can you faint?" Charlie asked worriedly.

Charlie's neighbor named Luci patted Charlie on the shoulder several times and said, "You should calm down, your mother is being examined by the doctor. Earlier I had time to go to your house to accompany your mother, but after I entered the house, Monica was already lying in the living room."

Charlie closed his eyes and nodded while forcing a smile. He walked towards the door of the ICU which had a glass window, so he could see his mother lying weakly there.

"Charlie!" Call Stella who just came, actually she wants to complain because Charlie left her. But seeing Charlie sad like that, Stella wouldn't dare scold him.

Stella walked over to Charlie, patting Charlie on the shoulder as she said, "Auntie Monica must be fine, Charlie."

Charlie turned. "Thank you, Stella," he said with a thin smile.

Not long after that, the doctor who examined Monica left the room. Charlie quickly approached the doctor, hoping he would give good news.

"Doc, how is my mother? She's fine, right?" asked Charlie hopefully.

The doctor was silent for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Sorry, we have tried our best. But the patient could not be saved. She's died."

Charlie's heartbeat suddenly stopped, and his body suddenly went limp. heard those words. His mother died? Can Charlie live without his mother?

Charlie's tears came out without permission, his hands clenched into fists holding back the pain in his chest. "Argh!" He took off his glasses in any direction, wiping his tears roughly. Then he looked at the Doctor who was still in front of him.

"You're kidding, right? Mommy won't leave me! She can't possibly die!" Charlie shouted, not accepting it, he was confused and couldn't control his emotions.

Stella, who was shocked, also cried, and then she approached Charlie and hugged him. "Stop, Charlie. This is fate," she said, trying to calm Charlie.

"Fate?" Charlie forcefully let go of Stella's embrace, then said again, "Why is my fate so bad? Why is all my happiness gone!"

Stella was silent, she couldn't say any more. Stella didn't know exactly what Charlie was feeling, she was just trying to calm Charlie down.

Charlie turned to look at the ICU door, then he jogged inside. It doesn't matter whether he's allowed or not, the most important thing is that Charlie wants to see his mother, even if it's for the last time.

"Mom." Just as he entered, Charlie couldn't hold back his tears. Someone he loved was lying lifeless in a hospital bed, those pale lips definitely couldn't smile anymore. Charlie slowly stepped closer, his heart was broken, as if many needles were piercing his heart.

"How come I wake up, I can't live without you, mommy," said Charlie softly.

That's where Charlie's happiness disappears, he is crushed after the source of the power is gone. How can Charlie live after this?

"I'll just die, come with you," said Charlie with a smile that was difficult to interpret.
