Extra Chapter 3

"Lucas! Be careful!"

The shout came from Eugene. Watching her son continue to run around in the middle of the grass field in front of their house sometimes made Eugene feel like she was on the verge of a sudden heart attack. How could she not? Her five-year-old son was very active and almost never wanted to sit still for more than a minute.

Eugene could only laugh as she watched Lucas proudly show off his catch, a small insect-shaped ball with black and reddish-orange patterns.

"Are you happy to get it?" his mother asked, answered by her son's enthusiastic nod. A blade of grass fell from Lucas's head.

Five years had passed, and Eugene had proven herself capable of fulfilling her duties as a mother. Lucas was active and intelligent, inheriting his good looks from Kalix, but his personality, no one knew where he got it from.
