The day, full of plans and the most anticipated day for the Greysoon family, had finally arrived. On this bright night, the Greysoon family would announce to everyone who would be the primary heir to all their assets and wealth.
The glittering lights seemed to add to the luxurious and festive atmosphere of the evening. One by one, the invited guests began to arrive, including members of the business community, several celebrities who had been specially invited to add to the excitement, and many media crews who had also been invited to capture the evening's events.
"Jeff, are you ready?" Renia asked, adjusting her son's tie.
"I'm very ready, Mom. Jeff has been waiting for this moment for years," she replied with a proud tilt of her chin.
On the other hand,
Everyone stared at the beautiful woman who had just entered the room, her bright red dress revealing her figure. She was Abigail Mooer, the daughter of one of the country's most successful businessmen. Although his wealth couldn't compare to the Greysoon family, they couldn't be ignored either.
Almero breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing his sweetheart approach him with a smile. Soon he would propose to her in front of everyone, and the thought of it made Almero's heart race.
"You're finally here, darling. I've been waiting for you for a long time, and luckily you're not late," Almero said, wrapping one arm around his girlfriend's waist.
"I couldn't be late to this important event. I wanted to witness the fulfillment of your wish to become the Greysoon heir. You deserve it all, darling." Abigail shamelessly kissed Almero on the cheek in front of the media and guests present.
Abigail seemed to want to show their closeness, and she hoped that after tonight's event, many investors would flock to sign partnerships with the Mooer Group.
"You're not late at all," Almero said, his heart pounding. He was extremely nervous, never having imagined that tonight he would be the main heir to the Greysoon family.
"I know that," Abigail said, clinging to him coquettishly.
"Where are Mom and Dad?" Almero asked after realizing that his girlfriend's parents weren't at tonight's party.
Almero had been in a relationship with Abigail for almost three years, and her parents even treated him like their own.
"Mom and Dad have urgent business matters, and once they're done, they'll be here," Abigail said in a spoiled voice.
"It doesn't matter, as long as you're here with me." Almero loved Abigail deeply and wanted to make her his wife because he believed she was a perfect, kind woman who never cared about material things.
"Honey, after this event is over, you have to officially announce our relationship. You promised me," said Abigail, indirectly wanting to secure her position as the Greysoon family's future daughter-in-law.
Abigail wanted to elevate her family's social standing in the eyes of the public. She didn't love Almero and had always been kind to him because he had helped her so much. The Mooer company had even risen from its slump, all thanks to Almero's intervention.
"Of course, I'll propose to you in front of everyone, and then I'll announce our wedding plans in a few months," Almero said confidently.
Their conversation stopped when the host invited Okan and Renia to come up on stage to announce their successor.
Everyone also knew that Okan and Renia had two sons, Almero and Jeff. However, Almero had been the one managing the business, while Jeff had been busy spending money.
Everyone's faces tensed, waiting for Okan to speak, while Jeff glared at Almero, who now had his eyes closed and was holding his girlfriend's hand. From that look, it was as if Jeff already knew who his father had chosen as heir.
"Tonight, I, Okan Greysoon, will make an announcement to all the invited guests and the media attending this event. As I said before, I will appoint the primary heir to the Greysoon family." Okan paused when he saw everyone applauding enthusiastically.
"Tonight, our beloved child, our biological child, will be the primary and sole heir to all the Greysoon family assets," Renia said, joining in.
Almero's eyes, which had been closed, suddenly opened, his brow furrowed deeply as if sensing something odd in his mother's words. Why did she say biological child? Could one of them be a stepchild?
"Why would she say that? Aren't you and Jeff both biological children of the Greysoon family?" Abigail asked Almero with a searching gaze.
"I don't know why he said that," Almero replied briefly, amidst his anxiety.
The guests were noisy with those around them, while the media immediately pointed their cameras toward the stage. Okan and Renia's words seemed to create tension in the room.
"Jeff Greysoon is our biological son, and for that reason, we decided to make him the primary and sole heir to the Greysoon family! Meanwhile, Almero is a child we adopted from an orphanage. We deliberately revealed Almero's true identity because he had secretly embezzled a large amount of company funds. And tonight, we were forced to sever ties with him."
The guests and media immediately pointed their cameras at Almero. This would be big news in town, while Almero remained frozen in place, his face growing increasingly pale and shocked.
Abigail, realizing this, immediately released her grip on Almero.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Abigail's parents were already standing in the doorway, their hopes of having a wealthy son-in-law who would elevate their status shattered with the revelation of Almero's true identity. Abigail's parents quickly left the room before anyone noticed them.
"Why are Mom and Dad talking like that? Aren't I your biological child?" Almero asked, his voice trembling.
"You're just our adopted child; you're an adult, and it's time to know all this," Renia said haughtily.
"But Dad promised to make me the heir to the Greysoon family," Almero said, his fists clenched tightly.
"When did I ever say that? It seems you're the one who's expecting too much," Okan said sarcastically.
Almero stared at his parents with a flushed face, then turned his gaze to Jeff, who had just ascended the stage. The man gave him an arrogant look, as if he already knew their plans.

She glared coldly at each person at the bus stop.
