All the invited guests had left, leaving a trail of shame and humiliation in Almero's heart. What should have been the greatest achievement of his life had now turned into a tragic night he could never have imagined.
Almero glared at Okan, Rania, and Jeff, who were now sitting on the sofa, as if to show that they were the hosts. And he was just a vagrant they had deliberately picked up to reach the pinnacle of success.
"Why are you still in this house? Don't you know you're just an adopted child?" Jeff asked, staring at Almero with a sly grin.
Jeff crossed his arms arrogantly in front of his chest. He had been trying to suppress his arrogance around Almero, but his goal of becoming the heir had been achieved. He was free to act as he pleased, and he desperately wanted to get rid of that loser.
"You already knew about their plan," Almero hissed angrily.
"Of course, I'm their biological son," Jeff said, puffing out his chest in a display of pride that disgusted Almero into clenching his fists.
Almero was silent for a moment, then smiled bitterly as memories of the past resurfaced. No wonder Okan and Renia had always pampered Jeff. They never asked him for any office help at all. It turned out they were using him as a scapegoat to climb to the pinnacle of success.
Almero couldn't contain himself. His heart ached as he stared at Jeff reveling in his suffering. That man didn't deserve the success he had worked so hard and spent so much time and effort to achieve. He had never lived freely and had to undergo rigorous training since childhood to carry on the family business.
Almero stepped toward Jeff, his fists clenched, ready to land a punch in the man's face.
"Almero, don't touch my biological child, the child born from my womb," Renia said, pushing Almero away from her son.
"Oh... so all this time you were just pretending to be nice to me," Almero said, his jaw clenched.
"I adopted you after the doctor said I probably wouldn't be able to conceive again after a miscarriage. We needed a family heir, so we went to an orphanage and adopted you. Not long after, I became pregnant with Jeff, and we've been planning all of this ever since," Renia said with a fierce glare.
"Yes, we deliberately let you do what you wanted all this time, all because you were still useful to the Greysoon family. We loved Jeff so much that we deliberately used you to reach the top and then we got rid of you. We wanted Jeff to get all the fruits of your labor. Jeff wouldn't have to work hard to grow this family business because you were here to make things easier for him. Now Jeff is ready to become the leader of the company! That's why we're revealing your true identity." Okan spoke loudly and sharply.
Almero's laughter echoed in the frozen air as he listened to Okan's words. Then he glared at them and said, "Do you think your beloved son can manage such a large company? He's never learned anything about business, and all this time he's been spending his time at nightclubs squandering money."
"How dare you underestimate me! You adopted son," Jeff said, his gaze sharpening.
Almero's laughter instantly vanished, trying to ignore Jeff's words. He glared at Renia and Okan fiercely before finally speaking, "If you really want to make him the heir, then why slander me for embezzling company funds? You're so cruel. If only you had told me the truth about my adopted son, and that he's not the heir to the company, then I wouldn't have objected at all, because I consider you all my family," Almero shouted, his voice almost trembling.
His eyes welled with tears, holding back deep sorrow; this truth was like a dagger piercing his heart. His fists clenched even tighter, as if he were on the verge of losing control of his rising emotions.
“Do you think it’s right to call us your family? You’re just a worthless child abandoned by your parents,” Okan exclaimed, his face looking arrogant.
“We want to sever ties with you, and that’s why we deliberately planned this all along,” Renia said, glaring at Almero. “We have to save the Greysoon family’s reputation! And sacrificing the reputation of an adopted child like you is the right choice. Consider it a way to repay our kindness by providing you with so many luxurious amenities.”
“Now that you know everything, you should leave this place immediately. The Greysoon family home is closed to you,” Jeff said, crossing his arms arrogantly across his chest. “It’s time for trash like you to return to the streets.”
“Jeff, don’t be cruel. He could end up homeless if he doesn’t take anything with him. At least let him take the money we’ve prepared for him.” Renia spoke, glaring at Almero with disgust.
Almero clenched his fists so tightly, he could feel the blood boiling beneath his skin after hearing their words. He glanced at each of their faces again, as if recalling all the insults they had hurled at him.
"Here's the money. You can start a new business with it," Okan said, throwing the suitcase full of cash to the floor.
Okan deliberately threw the money to the floor because he knew Almero's attitude. The man wouldn't compromise his dignity just for money. Okan deliberately spat near the money, crossing one leg arrogantly and proudly.
Almero truly couldn't believe he'd been fooled by their ruse. If only he'd known their intentions from the start, he swore he would destroy this company and this family.
Jeff grinned before standing up from his seat. "Let me help you get it," Jeff said, grabbing a wad of cash and throwing it at Almero's face with a gleeful laugh.
"Damn! How dare you do this to me, you bastard!" After speaking, Almero took a large step toward him and immediately threw his fists repeatedly at Jeff's face.
Renia and Okan, seeing this, immediately jumped up from their seats, their faces panicked.
“Guards! Guards... help!” Renia shouted, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Okan, enraged, immediately grabbed Almero by the shirt and repeatedly punched him in the face. Almero could only bite his lower lip, holding back the pain and grief. Almero could have easily fought Okan, but he couldn't. He couldn't physically harm this man, even though deep down, Almero hated the man he had called father for years.
“Guards! Drag this damn man out of the Greysoon family home without a penny; let him become homeless!” Okan commanded the guards standing behind Almero.
“One day you'll regret treating me like this,” Almero said, wiping away the red liquid leaking from the cut at the corner of his lip.
“Shut your mouth!” Renia shouted, glaring at Almero.
“Make sure you knock him unconscious before throwing him out; he'll suffer more damage than my son!” Okan ordered, seeing the two guards holding Almero's hands.
Almero swears he will return to avenge their actions.

His heart pounded, and his face turned almost pale.Almero tried to control his breathing before turning to the source of the voice. He saw a security guard had just stopped in front of him, and his probing gaze made his heart race even faster."Why didn't you answer me?" he asked sharply. "Why were you standing here all this time?" he continued, noticing Almero's uniform."I was working, sir, and your scream startled me," Almero said in a calm voice."What kind of work makes you hide behind a pillar, like you're doing something suspicious?" asked the security guard, not immediately believing what the man in front of him was saying."My superior asked me to check the broken parking lot lights," Almero said, showing his phone to the security guard.Silence. The security guard didn't answer immediately, but instead, he observed Almero's movements. Just as he was about t
Almost Caught

Almero stared blankly at the woman's face, which suddenly turned sour upon seeing him. Seconds later, Edeline stopped in front of him."I want to talk to you for a moment," she said curtly, and without waiting for Almero's response, Edeline immediately resumed her steps away.Almero and Edeline were now sitting on the sofa in front of the house, a breeze carrying the scent of roses from the nearby flower garden. Almero remained seated calmly, but his gaze was fixed on the beautiful woman sitting with an unfriendly expression.Edeline noticed the fading asphalt scratches on Almero's body. Her sharp eyes dimmed slightly as she realized that the man had saved her from the brink of death. Guilt crept into her heart for her arrogance toward Almero after she learned of the arranged marriage."How are your wounds?" Edeline asked."Much better,
First Evidence
Jeff had just returned to the company, throwing his work files onto the table with a furious expression. He roughly opened the bottle of wine and then gulped down its contents greedily."Damn Almero! That bastard, how dare he embarrass me in front of so many people," he said, breathing heavily with anger. "Does he think I'll just stay quiet? Of course not, I'll make him go back to scavenging for used bottles on the side of the road," he said, glaring at the door.A middle-aged man immediately entered the room, his face tense as he realized he'd arrived at the wrong time. Just one look at him revealed that Jeff was in a bad mood."What's wrong?" Jeff snapped suddenly, targeting the man."The master couldn't reach you, so Master Okan asked me to ask you about..." Jeff, already irritated, interrupted impatiently. "Xander's company assistant has an urgent matter, so I haven't seen him yet," Jeff lied, deliberately trying to keep his father from getting angry when he found out he'd left w
The Secret Behind the Plan
This afternoon, Almero and Valton sat on the sofa next to the Xander family home. It was a comfortable family retreat, with the scent of flowers wafting in the breeze."Somehow, I feel like Mr. Valton has another agenda behind this marriage," Almero said firmly. "If he didn't have a plan, how could he have chosen me as his son-in-law?" he continued, watching Mr. Valton closely.Mr. Valton wasn't surprised by what Almero had said. He knew this man had strong instincts."You are very observant, and that's why I chose you to be my daughter's companion," he said firmly. "I've asked my men to investigate everything about you, and you're simply a victim in the embezzlement of company funds," he continued."You must already know why I didn't refuse the marriage with Miss Edeline," Almero said matter-of-factly.Almero now knew that the Xander family was one of the most influential families in the country, even far above the Greysoon family. After considering all this, Almero had no reason to
Unexpected Help
Almero opened his eyes and looked around, finding the room strangely familiar. He slowly sat up and recalled the events of the previous night, when he had saved a woman who had been in an accident. The sound of a door creaking interrupted his reverie. He saw a middle-aged woman, whom he believed to be a servant, walking towards him carrying a tray."Where am I now?" Almero asked after the woman placed the tray on the table."You are at the Xander family residence, sir..." the servant replied politely."The Xander family," Almero said, repeating what the servant had said with a frown."Yes, sir," the servant said."Last night I fainted while saving a woman, but how come I'm suddenly here?" Almero asked, still confused."The person you saved yesterday was none other than Miss Edeline, Mr. Valton's only daughter," the servant replied."Can I see Mr. Valton now?" Almero asked, lowering his legs from the bed."Of course, I'll take you to meet Mr. Valton, but after you've finished breakfast
Collision
The scorching sun was starting to burn his skin, but that didn't stop Almero from continuing to rummage through the trash, looking for anything he could sell. He ignored the pungent smell of the garbage, as the most important thing now was earning money to buy food.Almero had tried applying for jobs at every company, but none would hire him; they all said they no longer needed additional employees. This was despite the fact that they clearly stated on the company's gate that they needed additional employees. Eventually, Almero learned that the reason why all the companies he visited wouldn't hire him was none other than pressure from the Greysoon family. His former foster family had threatened to harass any company that hired him."Isn't that Almero, the former foster child of the Greysoon family?" a beautiful woman asked her boyfriend."Yes, that's right. His fate is very sad. Who told him to betray the Greysoon family, and now he's homeless?" the blond man said to his girlfriend wi
