132. Eleanor's Visit

"I want to come..." Hazel pleaded with Glenn as he was about to leave for Riverstone. He affectionately stroked Hazel's head.

Glenn had already told her about the conditions at Riverstone and how the facilities there were inadequate for Hazel to visit. Especially when he showed her photos of the children's conditions there, Hazel didn't feel disgusted; instead, she felt even more compelled to help them.

"Not yet, love. If the conditions there are safe, I will definitely take you. I don't want anything to happen to you," Glenn replied, his eyes looking into Hazel's lifeless eyes, asking his wife to understand.

Hazel looked sulky; she knew her husband would answer like that, but she still felt disappointed. The image of the unfortunate children at Riverstone haunted her mind. Their hollow eyes, shabby clothes, sunken cheeks, and skinny bodies disturbed her every moment and made her restless.

She didn't say it to Glenn, but she knew Glenn noticed her sudden silence and frequent solitude,
