Wake Up

As Damien slowly opened his eyes, he felt a piercing pain in his head. He tried to move, but his body felt heavy and weak. For a moment, he couldn't remember where he was or what had happened.

Then it all came flooding back to him. The gunfight, Mikhail, and the realization that he had killed his own father-in-law. Damien's heart sank as the memories overwhelmed him.

He tried to sit up, but his family members urged him to lie back down. "How are you feeling, Damien?" Eloise, asked him softly.

Damien shook his head, unable to find the words to describe the pain he was feeling. "What happened?" he managed to ask.

Lilian, his cousin, took his hand and gently explained the events that had led up to him being in the hospital. "You were shot, Damien," she said. "The doctors managed to save you, but you were in a coma for a few days."
