Chapter 5

Few days after meeting with Imikah's uncle, he is at home watching the TV alone, his family has gone out on a trip to which he refused to go with them. The only person with him is his eighteen year old sister, Mia, who had decided to stay back to rest. She doesn't like going out much. She is quite different from him, he loves going out to interesting places, it forms part of the knowledge he has but presently, he has something more important to focus on than mere pleasure. 

After the meeting with Garett Beckham, he has been eager to know what the result would be. He had asked him to return home and wait for the result of the interview. Beckham saw the visit and discussion he had with him as an interview because he got to learn so many things about him and his style of playing which he doesn't even know. Wenton isn't aware of this but he is glad that he tried his best. 

A football documentary was going on, talking about the signings of the big clubs in Europe, England first then other countries, since he wasn't interested in England because he know no one that was intending to play there, he didn't pay much of his attention, then Spain was talked about and the particular signing of his best friend from Sporting Stars, he even saw his picture shown on the screen with a complete set of Alla Madrid jersey and the mercurial boots worn for matches. This club in particular was claimed to pay the highest in the world. 

"I wish we were into this together." Then he remembers that he already had what to hope on which if he succeeds will still get him to his destination. While thinking of this, the focus changes from club football to the National team.

"Over the weekend, there have been some major developments in the National Team of England, the English Champions. One of these is the surprise signing of the twenty-one year old……" Immediately he heard twenty-one, his heart skipped. Within these few seconds, a lot of thoughts go through his mind. 

Could this be me or someone else? But I'm twenty-one years old! 

He asks himself, then decides to listen to the end to know who is being talked about. "..... Sporting Stars Academy FC former captain, George Wenton. Wenton was signed during the weekend and would be playing as the center forward, with the possession of the number seven jersey." 

"Oh my God!" He jumps so high and screams so loud that he wakes up Mia. She races from her room to the living room to see what is making her brother shout this way. Wenton doesn't want to hear the rest of what is being said, if there is any information, either Imikah or Beckham would inform him of this. 

"What's it, what's it George?" She asks. Other people refer to him as Wenton but at home, George is the name given to him and for fondness sake, Weny, this is called when he has done some incredible things. 

He wouldn't listen to his sister or respond to her but continues to jubilate, pointing at the screen of the TV where his picture in his outgoing club, the Sporting Stars is being displayed and the news title below. 

"You can see that for yourself!" He says to Mia. The house soon becomes a den of screaming youths who are just excited. 

"Wenton is expected to resume training next week. The date and time would be communicated in subsequent time." 

"How did you do this? I mean you never told anyone you were going to play for the National Team, after you got stripped of your title as Captain, you told us it was over and you were going to enter into another facet of life. Tell us the secret behind this huge success. " Mia demands. Out of the three sisters and one brother he has, she has been the only one a bit interested in his football career, the rest just wouldn't want to know anything about it. 

It happened that it's at this exact time that his family returns from the trip to meet the screaming. They immediately rush inside the house thinking something is wrong only to see Wenton and Mia holding hands and jumping like a pair of grass cutters hopping around the bush. 

"Hell no, what's happening here?" His mother, Mara screams. "I'd heard the noises from outside and we decided to rush in thinking that something was amidst only to see the two of you shouting and disturbing the entire neighborhood."

"Mom, it's not about that, it's not what you think!" Mia decides to speak up but she is silenced immediately by her mom. 

"Would you be silent, girl?" She barks at her, making her shriek with fear. 

"And for you, Wenton……." She wants to advance the aggression to him but then her eyes are caught stuck on the TV, the news has been replayed, every detail shown on the screen including Wenton's picture. The date and time he is going to resume the training is displayed this time. 

His dad, who had held a disappointed face at him, thinking he was making himself and his sister scream hard for nothing, fell to the coach, sitting on it with a delighted disbelief on his face. His siblings stood frozen to the spot while his mom, since she started staring at the screen, hadn't executed any form of motion. She remains there like a sculpted piece of art. 

When they switch their gaze to Wenton, it's a look of surprise and delight, they progress towards him with their face glowing with delight, smiles on their lips and their hands wide spread to receive him into a family hug. They had prepared to make him feel bad about himself as they often did whenever he made any mistake immediately after he got stripped of his position, their plan has unexpectedly been converted to congratulatory messages and treatment. They encircle around him and the Mia they had gotten disappointed over too in a very passionate hug. 

"Thanks for making us proud, son!" His father says. 

"We are sorry for all those I'll treatments we had been giving to you. We are sincerely sorry." Maria, his mom apologizes to him, his heart becomes filled with so much emotion that he begins to cry. It's tears of joy for the entire family.
