"Shit… I'm dead."
A frail, panting figure darted down a narrow alley, his sneakers pounding against the cracked pavement, breath ragged and shallow. Blood stained his shirt where pain pulsed from his side, but he couldn't stop. Behind him, five rough-looking students gave chase, their shouts echoing through the brick-lined corridor.
All of these.... Over something stupid. But these guys weren't just angry, they were out for blood.
"Don't let him escape!" one of them barked, wiping crimson from his split lip. "He's gonna pay for what he just did!"
Henry's mind raced even faster than his legs. 'Why did I do it?' he thought bitterly. 'That one hit just gave me a death sentence.'
But he had no choice. It was either fight back or get humiliated again. And now, it was run or die.
Henry gritted his teeth as he tore through the winding alleyways, the crumbling buildings blurring around him. The pain in his stomach was nearly blinding, but he kept going.
A laugh echoed behind him, sharp and cruel. "You think you can lay a hand on Jack and walk away? You're dead meat, freak!"
Henry's heart froze as he risked a glance back.
One of them had stopped. He was reaching into his bag and then, he pulled out a gun
'Where did it all go wrong?' Henry thought as his eyes caught the end of the alley just meters ahead. Beyond it, the open street.
He clenched his jaw and pushed harder, ignoring the scream of pain in his side.
''Only minutes ago, I was laughing with Nuela and now I'm being chased by bullies''
. . . . .Minutes Earlier
*Ding!*
The final bell rang, and the school corridors flooded with voices, lockers clanging open and shut.
Henry stood at his locker, smiling faintly. His shoulders relaxed for the first time that day.
"Thanks for yesterday," he said.
Nuela leaned against the locker next to his, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Her lips curled into a warm, teasing smile. "I should be the one thanking you, Bloody Assassin," she said, nudging him playfully. "That VR game was out of this world!, It felt more real than real life."
Henry stiffened slightly, glancing around the hallway. No one seemed to be listening.
He leaned closer. "Hey… don't say that name out loud."
She blinked. "Bloody Assassin?"
"Yeah," he said, eyes darting around. "No one can know. I've taken out too many top-tier players. Wrecked thousands of dollars in gear. Some of those guys… they don't play games when it comes to revenge."
"You're serious?"
"I wish I wasn't."
Nuela paused, taking in the weight in his tone. Her playful smile softened into something more tender.
"Then I won't tell anyone," she said. "I promise. Your secret's safe with me.
Just down the hall, a group of students passed by, voices low but animated.
"I swear," one said, "if I could get to know Bloody Assassin's true identity, I'd give him every credit I have for a tutorial session."
"Legend status," another whispered. "That guy is untouchable."
Henry and Nuela both heard it.
She leaned closer with a grin. "I guess I'm lucky."
They both chuckled and then Nuela gripped Henry's arms. She looked down, then back up.
"Henry…" Her voice dropped. "I don't want to ruin things, but... I've been meaning to tell you something."
Henry gulped as his heart skipped a beat.
"Henry… I know this might sound sudden but... I like you. A lot. I don't just want to be your gaming partner. I want to be your girlfriend." She whispered as she leaned closer and tightened her grip around his arms.
Henry froze, he also had this in mind but he was scared it's might ruin there friendship.
*CRASH!*
The hallway doors burst open and approaching steps like marching army's could be heard.
Henry turned, heart plummeting.
'The bullies'
The same ones who had made his school life hell. The ones who treated his frail frame like a punching bag. The ones who beat him for sport. Now they were here, and they had seen him.
One of them smirked. "Hey Jack," he sneered, loud enough for the whole hallway. "Looks like your girl's got a thing for your punching bag."
Nuela's face twisted in disgust. "Don't ever call me your anything, you pack of brainless cavemen. I'm in love with Henry. Get it?"
The group froze for a beat, then all eyes shifted to Henry. But he was no longer standing there.
He was gone, already running from the bullies.
"Henry!" Nuela screamed as the bullies took off after him, their footsteps loud enough to make students give way for them.Latest Chapter
Chapter 176 Loosing The Whisperfang
Henry forced himself to remain calm after hearing Emma's question. Internally, however, his mind was working faster than ever before. The battle against the infected Black Bear King had been difficult, but this situation felt far more dangerous. Fighting monsters was simple compared to answering questions from experienced knights. One wrong answer could expose everything. Fortunately, during his run back to the carriage, he had already prepared a story. He had repeated it over and over in his head until it sounded natural enough that even he almost believed it himself."I don't know," Henry replied while pretending to think about it. He glanced toward the forest where the instructors had disappeared moments ago before shrugging slightly. "Maybe they were chasing after something." His answer sounded casual and uncertain, exactly how someone in his situation would respond. The less information he provided voluntarily, the less likely someone would notice inconsistencies. At least, that
Chapter 175 Perfect Plan
"The beast is getting away!" Louis shouted at the top of his lungs the moment he realized the goblin had no intention of remaining in the clearing. His voice echoed through the forest as he pointed toward the section of trees where the creature had disappeared. Gareth and Tyler immediately turned in the direction he indicated, but they were already too late. The goblin was nowhere to be seen. Only a few shaking branches remained behind, silently revealing the path the creature had taken moments earlier. The realization immediately frustrated the three instructors because after everything that had happened, they still had no answers regarding the mysterious goblin or the legendary bow in its possession.Without wasting any more time, the three knights charged into the forest. Their boots pounded heavily against the ground while leaves and loose dirt scattered beneath their feet. Each of them pushed their bodies forward at incredible speed, hoping to catch sight of the fleeing goblin be
Chapter 174 Infected Beast Reward
"I don't care where that monster learned how to do that, but we have to end its life now. It's a huge threat," Louis spoke while tightening his grip around the handle of his sword. His voice carried a seriousness that neither Gareth or Tyler questioned. During all his years as a knight, Louis had encountered creatures capable of extraordinary feats, but never a corrupted bear capable of controlling fog and creating a tornado. Every instinct he possessed was warning him that allowing such a creature to survive would be disastrous. If it escaped into a populated area, the number of casualties it could cause would be unimaginable. The thought alone was enough to strengthen his resolve.Gareth and Tyler silently agreed. Both men stood several meters apart with their weapons already raised and their bodies positioned for combat. The three instructors slowly formed a wide semicircle around the infected bear, making sure it had no obvious route of escape. Their movements were cautious and de
Chapter 173 Faraway Enemies
The raging tornado still lingered across the battlefield like a living disaster that refused to die, tearing through the forest with brutal force and uncontrolled mana. Trees were uprooted completely, their massive trunks snapping and twisting before being swallowed by the swirling winds, while rocks and shattered debris circled endlessly like weapons waiting to be released.Louis gritted his teeth as he drove his sword deep into the ground, both hands wrapped tightly around the hilt while his boots slid backward under the pressure of the wind. Even with mana reinforcing his muscles, his entire body trembled violently as he tried to resist the overwhelming force pushing him away from the center of the storm.“Damn it…!” Louis growled through clenched teeth, his voice barely audible over the roaring winds that threatened to tear everything apart in the area.Gareth stood slightly behind him, his hands raised as he maintained a mana barrier that shimmered violently under pressure. Crack
Chapter 172 Massive Tornado
Henry struggled to push himself upright after the latest exchange with the infected Black Bear King. Every movement sent waves of pain through his body, forcing him to grit his teeth just to remain standing. When he finally managed to straighten himself, he immediately noticed blood dripping steadily from the deep wounds across his chest. The bear's claws had cut far deeper than he initially thought. His breathing felt heavier, and his vision briefly blurred when he checked his status window. The sight that greeted him was enough to make his expression darken. Nearly half of his health was gone. For the first time since the battle began, he realized that continuing to fight recklessly could easily get him killed before he ever had a chance to claim the reward."Dammm," Henry muttered while pressing a hand against his injured chest. His voice carried both frustration and annoyance. He had finally found a quest with an incredible reward, only to discover that the enemy guarding it was m
Chapter 171 One Powerful Strike
Louis continued watching the battlefield below while the fog slowly thickened between the trees, making the already chaotic scene even harder to read. From his position on the high branch, he could still clearly see the infected Black Bear King and the goblin with the help of the moon light, but every few seconds the mist would rise just enough to blur their movements before thinning again. It was an unnatural rhythm, almost as if the forest itself was breathing around them.Tyler broke the silence again after watching the goblin continue fighting below. The more he observed, the more tempting the opportunity looked. The bear was clearly injured from its earlier clash with the instructors, and now it was focused entirely on the goblin. “We should use this opportunity to finish it,” Tyler said again, his voice lower but more insistent this time. “It’s distracted. If we strike together now, we might actually bring it down before it recovers.” Gareth didn’t respond immediately, instead n
