The hallway was silent now. Not literally, students still whispered, doors still creaked, but for Nuela, the world had narrowed into a vacuum. The kind that happens when something breaks inside you.
One moment, she was confessing her feelings. The next, Henry was gone and the bullies had followed like bloodthirsty wolves.
She hadn't even seen him move. Just the look in his eyes shows fear then he vanished like smoke, and now she was just standing there with her fingers trembling.
"Nuela..." someone whispered beside her, but she didn't answer.
"Shit, they're going to hurt him again"
She snapped back to life, pushing through the crowd of students who had begun to murmur again.
"Henry" Nuela stuttered as her footsteps quickened. Past the lockers, past the teachers who didn't care. Her mind raced with scattered thoughts.
She reached the stairwell and paused, gripping the railing to steady herself. She could feel her heart breathing faster.
"Think, Nuela. Where would they go?"
She tried to picture the school's back exit, the one near the art wing. It led into a series of alleys behind the school. A maze of forgotten corners and rusted fences. Teachers didn't patrol there, no cameras.
"Exactly where they'll take him to" She bolted down the stairs.
.....
Meanwhile...
"Move! Excuse me!" Henry yelled, pushing past students at the hallway's entrance.
"Watch it, Henry!" a girl with crutches snapped as he bumped into her.
"I'm sorry, Pricy," he called over his shoulder, barely slowing down.
"You can't run, Henry!" Jack's voice thundered across the hall. The gang had spotted a shortcut.
"Why do they keep doing this?" Pricy muttered, trying to stand with help.
"Don't ask, just don't let them hear you," her friend whispered with a glance over her shoulder. "They're monsters."
Henry burst out the school doors and sprinted for the gate, heart pounding with desperation, hoping he could escape the bullies this time.
*Whack!*
A fist caught his jaw, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Rough hands grabbed him, dragging him into the alley beside the school.
"You thought you could run?" Jack sneered, kicking Henry hard in the stomach.
Henry gasped, curling in on himself.
Laughter erupted from the gang.
"Weak as ever," one taunted, stomping on his chest.
"What did I do to deserve this?" Henry choked out, blood on his lips.
Jack crouched, his face inches from Henry's. "You're the perfect punching bag, and now you've got guts to chase after my girl?" He laughed a sound without mercy.
*Twack*
Another kick, Henry coughed blood.
"Jack, ease up, man. You'll kill him," one of the bullies mumbled.
"I'd do it if I could," Jack muttered. "He's a freak."
Henry's body screamed in pain, but his hand slowly reached a brick.
Slowly, he stood, hiding it behind his arm.
Jack grabbed his collar. "What are you gonna do? Stare me to death?"
Henry swing his arms.
*CRACK!*
The brick shattered across Jack's face. He hit the ground, howling.
Henry took over the advantage and ran for his life.
...
So That's brings us to where we're.
.....
Henry didn't look back. His legs moved on instinct, pain radiating from every part of his body.
His side throbbed. Blood soaked through his shirt. But still he ran.
"I can't stop. Not now"
He stumbled toward the end of the alley, the sound of his own ragged breath louder than anything else.
Sunlight broke through as he neared the open road.
"Just a few more steps."
"He hasn't shot… Thank God he hasn't"
Without looking, Henry hurled himself onto the street.
---
The truck came too fast.
Its horn blared, tires screeching.
*THUD*
The impact flung him like a rag doll. His body twisted midair, then slammed into the pavement with a sound that stole the breath from every witness.
For a moment, there was only silence. Then came the gasps, the shouts, footsteps rushing forward.
Henry's eyes fluttered, barely open. The sky was blurry. His chest barely rose.
"So this is it... This is how it ends". His mouth moved, but no sound followed. Then darkness slowly consume his sight.
Jack and his gang skidded to a halt at the road's edge.
Jack froze, the gun still in his hand.
"Shit," one of the bullies whispered. "He's dead."
"The truck… It hit him."
Panic crackled in the air.
"Let's go. Let's go now. No one saw us"
"No jail, man," Jack muttered. "We weren't here."
They scattered, disappearing into the other side of the alley.
---
Nuela arrived seconds later, just in time to see them vanish. Then she heard the sirens.
She turned to the corner and her breath caught, there. There in the street was Henry lying lifelessly on the pavement.
"No…"
She sprinted forward, falling to her knees beside him.
"Henry! Stay with me!"
Her hands hovered helplessly over his body, trembling.
"Please don't do this. Don't leave me."
The paramedics arrived. Strong hands pulled her back.
"Nooo!"
She screamed. Fought to stay close.
But Henry was already being lifted into the ambulance.

He was lost in words and didn't know what to say.Juliet’s eyes softened for a moment, then hardened again. “I don’t know why I’m attached to you, Henry,” she said quietly. “I know nothing about you.” She brushed past him, giving him a slight shove as she walked ahead.Henry sighed, rubbing his neck. “Last time I told her where I really came from, she didn’t believe me,” he muttered under his breath. Shaking his head, he followed her down the dusty path toward the merchant’s house.“Juliet!” he called. She didn’t answer. Her pace didn’t even slow. When they reached the merchant’s residence, Juliet entered first. Henry followed, keeping a respectful distance. Chapter 57 You lied
Henry’s feet pounded against the forest floor as he muttered under his breath, " Alright let's play a little.”Behind him, the thunder of hooves shook the ground. The evolved Fang Boar bellowed furiously and charged. Henry darted between trees, glancing around. Then he spotted one, a tall oak with a sturdy branch angled perfectly for climbing.“Got you,” he whispered. He leapt, caught the branch, and hauled himself upward in one clean motion. The boar crashed against the base of the tree, its tusks scraping bark and splintering wood. It glared up at him, snorting hot air through flared nostrils.“Nice chase” Henry muttered, tightening his grip on the branch as the beast rammed the trunk again and again. Each strike sent shivers up the wood. The tree groaned in protest, its roots loosening as soil shifted beneath it. Henry felt the tremors vibrate through his feet.“Alright, buddy, that’s enough,” he muttered, looking down at the fanged brute that refused to quit.He sighed. “I'll sti
Chapter 56 Fanged Boar
“What is it? Why are you smiling?” the receptionist asked, narrowing her eyes slightly, curiosity playing at the corners of her lips. Henry blinked, snapping out of his daze. “Nothing,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. His eyes accidentally drifted down for the valley at her chest but darted away before she could notice. “Come on, guys! Let’s get this quest started!” Wednesday spoke. They left the guild together but soon split up, each heading toward their respective quest destinations. Henry followed the rough map printed on the back of his quest sheet, his boots crunching softly on the gravel road. “I’m only supposed to kill two Fang Boars and bring their crystals back,” he murmured to himself, holding the quest paper against the wind. “Even if I take down twenty, no one would know. The extra crystals would all be mine.” He grinned a little at the thought. But as he walked through the busy street leading to the capital gate, his attention was caught by a famili
Chapter 55 First Guild Quest
Juliet’s soft voice broke the momentary silence. “What’s wrong?” she asked from behind, noticing the woman’s fixed gaze on Henry. “I don’t know,” the woman replied, her brows furrowed. “Something feels… different about his face.” Juliet chuckled, stepping closer with a teasing smile. “Yeah, he’s handsome, right? Most people even mistake him for a girl.” “Maybe.” The woman shrugged, brushing it off before walking away. Henry, however, knew she wasn’t just admiring him, she had sensed something unusual. She was a high-level adventurer, skilled and perceptive. If she had truly seen through him, he might’ve been in trouble. There were too many adventurers here for him to escape unnoticed if something went wrong. 'Almost got caught' Henry thought with a sigh of relief. Minutes later, the receptionist returned, holding several small cards. “Congratulations,” she said with a polite smile as she handed them out. “You’re now official F-Rank adventurers. Welcome to the guild.” He
Chapter 54 Something Different
“We’d like to register as adventurers,” Vorden said confidently to the receptionist behind the counter. The woman looked up from her desk and smiled politely. “Wait a moment.” She pulled open a drawer, retrieved a small stack of forms, and spread them neatly before the group.“Please fill these out first,” she said.Henry stared at the paper in front of him, feeling lost. The only things he could confidently fill in were his name and age. Vorden, however, was already writing swiftly, so Henry subtly peeked at his sheet for clues and managed to complete his own form with some effort.Once they were done, the receptionist began explaining the rules and responsibilities of adventurers, how guild ranks worked, the importance of missions, and the conduct expected from every registered member. She had clearly done this many times before, her tone professional yet patient. Henry listened with extra attention; everything about this world was new to him, and he didn’t want to miss a detail.Wh
Chapter 53 Guild Receptionist
Panic rippled through the group as they rushed toward Henry, their faces tight with fear and confusion. “Don’t worry, guys. I’ll be alright,” Henry muttered, forcing a calm smile even as his mind spun. His body slowly began to heal from within. “Maids!” the merchant barked, his voice sharp at first, then quickly softening into reassurance. “Don’t panic, Henry. It’s just a cut. You’ll be fine. The healer lives only a stone’s throw away.” Vorden dropped beside Henry, guilt written all over him. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he said, voice trembling. Henry didn’t answer. He sat there quietly, clutching his arm. Within, the injury was healing and now it's because visible to the eyes. “Wait... look at that,” the merchant’s wife whispered, eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you a mage?” Wednesday asked, her gaze locked on Henry’s arm as the last traces of injury disappeared. “Thank the goddess,” Vorden exhaled, relief washing over him. “It’s healing... he’s really healin
