"Breathe in, aim low, let the sling arc naturally." Henry whispered and took a deep breath.
*Whew* Two rocks flew, slicing through the air with sharp whistles. The first struck the lead goblin right between the eyes. His shriek cut off mid-sound as he fell backward, eyes rolling up. The second rock hit the one behind him directly in the throat. It dropped to its knees, gagging, and then collapsed beside the first. Henry slumped against the cold stone wall and whispered to himself, voice shaky. "Living in this world... it's not the same as playing it behind a VR helmet." [You've killed an Ordinary Goblin x2] [+20 EXP] Glancing back, something caught his eye faint lights hovering above the goblins' bodies. Like tiny floating embers. "Evolution Crystals," he murmured, stepping forward slowly. The crystals glowed softly, rotating in place as if waiting for him. He bent down, fingers brushing against one, and felt the strange energy pulse beneath his skin. "The pain" Henry whispered. The last time he absorbed one, pain had wracked his entire body like his bones were melting and rebuilding all at once. It had left him screaming, curled on the ground, gasping for breath. Still, there was no other choice, he couldn't afford to leave it behind. "This is how I grow stronger... whether I like it or not." He took a deep breath, opened his mouth, and swallowed the crystal whole. Then he braced arms clutching his sides, knees drawn to his chest. He waited for the pain. But it didn't come. [Evolution Crystal absorbed +1] His body warmed. A strange lightness filled his chest, as if a layer of fatigue had been peeled away. "…Huh?" Henry opened his eyes. No pain, just calm energy flowing within his body. "Was it a weaker crystal?" he wondered aloud. "Or… did my body adapt?" Questions piled up in his head, but he didn't have the answers. Not yet. Then, nearby, he noticed the goblins' weapons scattered across the floor. "These could be sold when I'm out of here, I believe they're merchants that's buys and sell weapons." He gathered the wooden maces seven in all and searched the bodies for anything else but finds nothing. Breathing heavily, Henry opened his inventory and stored the maces. He sat down, arms resting on his knees, trying to steady his breathing. *Ding!* A soft ding echoed in his mind. [HP Recovered: You've been unharmed for ten minutes] [HP: 20/20] He blinked. "Wait... my HP increased?" Realization hit him. "I leveled up!" He spoke and open the system interface. --- [STATUS] [Name: Henry] [Race: Goblin] [Class: Marksman] [SP: 5] [Level: 2] [EXP: 20/200] [Evolution Crystals: 2] [HP: 20/20] [Strength: 10] [Agility: 10] [Stamina: 10] [Vitality: 10] [Skills: Inspect] --- Level-Up Rewards: [Skill Unlocked: Inspect (Lv. 1)] [+5 Stat Points] [+5 HP] --- Henry's heart thumped with excitement. "My first skill…" he whispered. Inspect. A basic ability, but one that could turn the tide in the right hands. He focused, and the description appeared: [Inspect (Level 1): View stats of any creature by looking directly for more than a second. No energy cost.] "No energy cost? That's… actually amazing." His eyes drifted to the floating stat points. "Let's make this count." Without hesitation, he distributed them quickly: [+2 Strength] [+1 Agility] [+1 Stamina] [+1 Vitality] 'System.' ----- [UPDATED STATUS] [Strength: 12] [Agility: 11] [Stamina: 11] [Vitality: 11] --- He grinned. "Bit by bit, I'm getting there." *Grekkkk* A loud growl rumbled from his stomach. "…Crap." He hadn't eaten since arriving in this world. No fruits, no water, no meat, just adrenaline and desperation. His body was reminding him he wasn't invincible. Then a chimed was heard. *Ding!* [New Quest Available] [Quest: Eat the corpse of a dead goblin to satisfy your hunger.] [Reward: +20 EXPERIENCE Point.] Henry stared blankly at the message. "You've got to be kidding me…" His eyes flicked toward the nearest corpse. Burnt skin. Greenish-gray flesh. The smell already turning sour. "D…Disgusting," he muttered. But his stomach growled again. Hunger clawed at him. "I'll throw up… but I have no choice." Then an idea flickered in his mind. 'If I roast it… maybe I can pretend it's not goblin meat.' Henry grabbed his slingshot carved a chunk of meat from the corpse, and walked toward the flickering torchlight ahead. He held the meat over the flames until it blackened, crisping at the edges, the foul smell slowly dulled by the fire. Henry looked down at the charred meat. "Dinning… with roasted goblin. This is my life now." He took a breath and bit. The taste was awful, rubbery and bitter. He chewed slowly, face twisted in a grimace. His body accepted it, but his mind rebelled. He fought the urge to gag. His vision blurred with tears. 'This is survival... just survival.' He slowly swallowed. [Quest Completed] [+20 EXP] "Sorry, brother," he muttered to the corpse. "But I need to live." He stood up slowly, wiping the grease from his mouth with the back of his arm. He felt sick, but stronger. Better, and most importantly, full. "Things are falling into place," he said quietly. "I'm going to make it out of the dungeon. I'll become a legend again… just like in VR." He scanned the environment with his eyes once again and noticed one of the stone tiles nearby was slightly raised, just enough to be noticed. "Odd…" He whispered, knelt and pushed it down. *Click.* A low rumble echoed through the room. The ground shook slightly, and from the far wall, a loud crack split through the stone, light bled through. "What... is that?" Henry whispered as he turned. The wall was opening, stone splitting, revealing a hidden chamber bathed in a pale glow.Latest Chapter
Chapter 100 I'm back
'All i have to do now is not to let's anything change the scheme ahead, until am at the alley' Henry thought to himself, the weight of the decision pressing down on him. The hallway buzzed with students passing by, laughing, chatting. But Henry’s mind was elsewhere, fighting the urge to let anything slip.Suddenly, a voice broke through his thoughts. "Are you sure everything's alright?"Henry jumped, his heart skipping a beat. He turned to find Nuela standing beside him, concern etched across her face."Oh, Nuela... you scared me," he muttered, exhaling a shaky breath."I asked you earlier," she said, her voice soft but insistent. "You said everything was alright."Henry fought the urge to say more. 'She always cares' he thought.' I wish I could tell her, but if I do, it’ll mess everything up.'"I'm fine," Henry replied, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. He repeated his earlier words, trying to stay in character. "Thanks for yesterday."Nuela leaned against the locker next
Chapter 99 Vorden Greatest Fear
The world around Vorden began to swirl as he was pulled from the present. A dark, suffocating void enveloped him, like the weight of a thousand nights pressing down on his chest. He felt himself falling, and then, as if from nowhere, the world snapped back into focus. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth and the distant whisper of trees in the wind. He blinked rapidly, his heart racing as memories flooded him.He was standing in a clearing now, one that felt hauntingly familiar, the air filled with the smell of pine and wet soil. The trees around him seemed ancient, their trunks wide and their branches reaching toward the sky. Vorden felt the hairs on his neck stand up. This place—he remembered it well.It was his village. Or rather, it had been his village. He could hear the sounds of children laughing, the crackling of a nearby fire, the low murmur of elders talking. It was peaceful—too peaceful. But then, the silence shattered.A howl pierced the air, followed by another,
Chapter 98 Juliet Greatest Fear
Juliet stood alone in a vast void, her senses overwhelmed by the eerie silence. There were no shapes, no sounds, just an endless blackness that pressed against her. Yet, in the distance, a faint light flickered—a beacon that seemed familiar. As her feet moved toward it, the air around her began to change, the temperature growing warmer, the world shaping itself. The light took form. The training grounds. The very place where everything had begun, her journey, her training, her fears. And there, standing before her in the middle of a sunlit clearing, was her father. He was young again, as if the past had not yet stolen his life away. His strong, calloused hands gripped a wooden training sword, and his eyes, filled with unwavering resolve, locked onto her."Juliet," her father said, his voice full of affection but also firmness. "You must learn to control your ability. It’s not enough to just fight. You have to understand your power, respect it."Juliet felt herself swallowed by a wave
Chapter 97 Locker Hall
Henry and Juliet stepped out of the classroom, the door swinging shut behind them with a quiet thud. The hall was quiet for a brief moment, but the air felt charged, as if something was about to happen. Nuela’s voice broke the silence, soft but concerned. "Henry, everything doesn’t seem right. If something’s wrong, you can talk to me. You know that, right?"Henry glanced over at her, his heart tightening in his chest. He wanted to tell her everything—the stress, the pressure, the anxiety that gripped him when he thought about Jack and his group. But at the same time, he didn’t want to let it show. He didn’t want to worry her.“Yeah…” Henry’s voice was calm, almost too calm. He forced a smile, though it felt out of place. “Everything’s alright, Nuela. Trust me, friends don’t lie.”He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug. She froze for a moment but then relaxed, hugging him back. It was a brief, intimate moment, the kind that spoke of trust and comfort. Yet, i
Chapter 96 Dream Land 5
Henry sat on the stone chair near the schoolyard, the heavy weight of his thoughts pressing down on him. His heart was racing, and his fingers trembled slightly as he sat still. It was as if the air around him had thickened, every breath feeling like a challenge. Taking in a deep breath, he muttered under his breath, “I can do this. I can stop Jack and his weird group today.” The words barely felt real. He was scared, unsure of what to expect, but something inside him had shifted. His mind sharpened as he exhaled slowly, attempting to calm the storm swirling in his chest. He opened his system interface to check if it came along with him to the dream land. Chapter 95 Dream Land 4
Henry sat in his seat, his gaze fixated on the outside world. Through the narrow window of Mr. Mike’s classroom, the sky stretched out in a brilliant blue expanse, unmarred by clouds. It was a picture-perfect day, the kind of day that would make anyone want to spend their time outdoors, feeling the warmth of the sun on their skin. It would have been the ideal weather—if not for the storm brewing just beneath the surface of Henry’s thoughts. He didn’t care about the lesson, today. The words from Mr. Mike drifted in one ear and out the other, a steady hum that faded against the weight of his internal conflict. There was no point in pretending to focus. Henry could feel the tension building inside him, like a tight coil ready to snap. He was barely holding it together.Part of him wanted to run, to leave it all behind, but another part reminded him why he was here. Why he had to stay. "You have to be strong' Henry thought, closing his eyes for a moment, trying to steady his breathing. '
