The leader and three others stayed in the main hall, guns sweeping over the trembling crowd.

In different parts of the mall, the chaos spread like wildfire.

At the electronics wing, a group of terrified shoppers tried to slip out through a side exit. But just as they reached the doors, one of the masked men appeared, his rifle raised. He fired a deafening burst into the ceiling—TA-TA-TA-TA! Sparks and dust rained down, making people scream and stumble back.

“QUIET!” he roared, pointing the gun at the crowd. “Nobody leaves! Move downstairs, NOW!” His voice cracked like a whip.

Across at the fashion stores, frightened customers tried pushing through the glass doors into the main walkway. But another robber was already there, blocking the exit. He fired a single round into a display, the explosion of glass and mannequins silencing the desperate shouts.

“You think you’re leaving?” he barked, swinging his rifle across the group. “Get your asses down there before I drop you all!”
