The other robbers froze, weapons still raised but fingers hesitating on the triggers. Their boss’s head tilted slowly, his eyes narrowing behind the mask.

The atrium vibrated with tension. Hostages huddled on the floor, wide-eyed and breathless, some daring to lift their heads now, hope flickering where only despair had been moments ago. A ripple of murmurs passed quietly through them—fear mixed with awe.

Sierra’s heart raced as she stared at Elijah, her lips trembling. She had never seen him this bold, this unshakable, standing like a wall between her and danger. Her chest tightened—part fear, part something else she couldn’t name.

The other robbers shifted uneasily, their rifles still pointed but their confidence cracked. They hadn’t expected anyone to rise, let alone overpower one of their own in seconds.

The leader’s head snapped toward Elijah, his masked face unreadable but his voice hard as steel.
