"William, what do you need one hundred thousand dollars for?"

A harsh voice asked William, belonging to Charles, Clarissa's older brother. He has a large body build, and although he might not look it, he actually is one of the strongest elites in Astoria.

"I need the money for something very important. I swear that I'll pay you back after two days."

"Humph, you plan to take our money and run away! I know that is what you want to do. You think I am my foolish sister that you can easily deceive."

Hearing Charles call his wife 'foolish', William couldn't help but glare at him. However, he didn't retort.

"Well, two days from now is me and Clarissa's marriage anniversary, and I would like to get her gifts."

"You want to get her gifts? Now I know you are really sick in the head. Two days from now, she would fail to sign a contract with Starkcom and would be thrown out of the Storm family. Even your gift won't wash away the pain she would feel that day," Charles mocked.

"Gifts aren't to wash away pains. Please just lend me one hundred thousand dollars."

"No, I refuse to be tricked by you, swindler."

At that moment, someone walked in. It was none other than Lady Storm in the flesh.

"What is this disgusting fool doing in my mansion?"

"Grandma, this fool wants to borrow money from us and run away with it. He claims he wants to get Clarissa an anniversary gift, but we all know that is a lie."

Lady Storm didn't reply to Charles. From what he said, she saw an opportunity to get rid of William.

"William, we will give you one hundred thousand dollars."

"Grandma! That is too much!"

"That amount is enough for us to pay all the maids and guards for two months. We shouldn't give it to him!"

Lady Storm ignored Charles once again. "However, if you fail to return the money in two days, you will willingly sign a divorce with Clarissa."

A cold smile crept on William's lips. "I w-won't agree!" He pretended to be scared.

"See! He wasn't going to pay back. He wants to steal the money and run away. Grandma, don't do this."

"If you don't agree, then you won't get the money you requested for."

"Okay, I agree. If I don't pay back, I will sign the divorce without you guys having to force me, but I also have a condition."

Charles: "When did beggars start having conditions? Grandma, don't listen to him."

"Speak, what condition do you want?" Lady Storm found this conversation fascinating and engaged in it with a smile on her face.

"If I do pay back, I want Charles to bow to me and Clarissa and apologize for calling her a fool."

"Deal! Charles, give him one hundred thousand dollars."

Charles's eyes were fixated on William with anger. "How dare you? In your dreams!! I would never bow to you. If you don't pay, you will also bow down to me and lick my shoes."

Charles arrived with a check and passed it to William. "Thank you, Lady Storm." He appreciated her and left.

At the living room of the Storm Family Mansion.

"Lady Storm, I am willing to help Clarissa get the contract signed by Starkcom," Donald revealed with a smile.

"I recently signed a contract with them, so I know the ins and outs and the tricks to get the contract signed."

Lady Storm was seated opposite him, Clarissa and her personal assistant, Florence, were present as well.

Clarissa came to collect the contract documents from Florence when she somehow got into this meeting.

"Clarissa, why don't you accept this?" Florence whispered to Clarissa. Apart from being her P.A, she is already her friend.

"Mr. Donald is handsome, his family is well-to-do, and he can help you sign this contract. If I were you, I would accept without looking back."

Clarissa ignored Florence. "Donald, I don't need your assistance. I would do this on my own. I don't mind failing as long as it is my effort."

Florence immediately stepped out. "Mr. Donald, she actually doesn't mean what she said. She needs your help, Mr. Donald."

"I know she needs it. She just doesn't want to admit it in public." Donald smiled confidently, causing Clarissa to frown.

"Florence, when did you become my mouthpiece? Donald, I don't want your help."

"Clarissa? What are you even saying? Are you saying all this because of William? That good-for-nothing?"

"Don't you dare speak about my husband in such ill-mannered way."

"Clarissa, you should understand the difference between a man that means well and a man who only wants your money and body. Tell me, ever since you guys got married, has he brought you any gifts?"

Clarissa didn't reply. William really hasn't brought her any gift. Although she doesn't actually need it, as a woman, she can be easily moved with gifts.

"See, but Mr. Donald, you guys haven't even started courting, and he is already willing to help you."

Donald had a proud look on his face. At first, he was jealous when Clarissa defended William. However, hearing what Florence said made him feel better.

"Indeed, my granddaughter, William is nothing but a leech. Donald is the ideal man for you. You should let him help you; afterwards, you guys can get to know each other more."

"By the way, your husband would not return home anymore. He has stolen money from us and ran away."

"What do you mean? Did William actually steal from the Storm family?" Donald stood up with anger in his eyes.

"He stole one hundred thousand from us and ran away with it. He claims to borrow it, that he would pay back tomorrow, however, we all know it is a lie.

Clarissa, did he even tell you that he was leaving?"

Clarissa shook her head. Before she woke up this morning, William had already left.

"See, he would have told you if he wasn't running away."

Clarissa could not believe her ears. Did William actually leave her?

No, it can't be. Last night he didn't even tell her a single thing about leaving.

Frustrated, she grabbed the documents and stormed out of the room.

"Clarissa, wait for me." Florence rushed after her.

William stared at the figure before him, his mind racing as he tried to make sense of the twisted reflection standing just a few paces away. The smirk on the doppelganger's face was chilling, filled with an arrogance and darkness that William recognized but had never embraced himself. This was not just a reflection; it was something far more sinister. "Who are you?" William demanded, his voice steady, though the unease gnawed at him. "Why do you look like me?" The doppelganger tilted its head slightly, the smirk widening. "I am the Dark One," it said, its voice a distorted echo of William's own. "The force behind the apocalypse, the one who brought chaos and ruin to your world." William’s eyes widened in shock, and then narrowed in anger. "You... You’re the one who unleashed the zombies, who turned the world into a living nightmare?" His grip tightened on his sword, the blade beginning to glow faintly with the power of his blood magic. "Why?
