Roxanne jingled the tiny bell on the dinner table, alerting Robert Jackson, her husband, of her impatience for him to bring the food.
Robert appeared with a tray in hand, dressed in a maids gown, solely chosen for him by his wife Roxanne,
“What took you so long?.” She scowled at him.
Robert muttered an apology as he dished out food for Roxanne and her two haughty friends.
Angela, one of Roxanne's friends with red hair, covered her mouth as she laughed to despise Robert's outfit.
“Oh Roxanne, you always know how to stir me up really well, I can't believe you gave him a maid's clothes to put on.”
They all laughed heartily as Robert finished serving, he stood to await more orders.
This has been his lot since the day he married Roxanne Murillo, last daughter of the Murillo family amongst five children.
Their marriage has gone for five years now, and Roxanne only looks at Robert with scorn, and as the years went by, her hatred for him only grew, he was an embarrassment to her and her family, as she could have married someone with a higher class, but she didn't. So she put him to work instead.
Roxanne was not satisfied with the house chores that Robert did, so she put him as a dispatch rider for her pizza place.
Everyday, after taking care of sweeping, washing, and all manners of house chores, Robert would make for the restaurant to begin his work as a delivery guy.
The stipends he made were still sent to Roxanne's personal account.
With the load of work, Robert was bound to return home to make lunch, and dinner in between for Roxanne and her mother.
On one occasion he was late due to workload at the pizza place, he received not only a scolding, but a hot slap on both cheeks.
Five years after being married, he grew accustomed to the maltreatment of Roxanne and her mother. The painful part was his growing affection for Roxanne.
Originally, Robert Jackson came from a very influential home, the family behind Zenco enterprise, before he got married to Roxanne, he invested almost all of his inheritance in buying an oil field, which was speculated to generate oil that would last more than three centuries.
The rest of his inheritance he invested in a company that buys out other companies on the brink of breakdown
Contrary to what he expected, the fields generated nothing, and the workers he hired deserted him after a while. He was left penniless, as a result of his drastic decision, the family came together and expelled him completely from the family's genealogy.
Everyone he knew departed him, even those he called his closest friends. To survive, he became the son-in-law to the Murillo family.
“Hmmm,” Angela reacted to the taste of the food.
“This is so good, Roxanne, you have to tell Robert to come make me some of this in my house.”
“Of course he will come cook for you, he is totally useless to me after all, would you like to know the secret behind his great cooking?” Roxanne asked her girls.
They all nodded eagerly.
“I tell him to dress the part for whatever work he is doing, hence the maid in chef's clothing.”
Angela clapped her hands, multiple times,
“Wow, I am surprised, then he must dress this way when cooking in my house, so the charm can also work.”
They all giggled before Roxanne fell quiet, her face hinting at sudden sadness, she picked at her food.
“Girls, I am worried, my company is experiencing a downfall, if I don't get a huge investment soon, I'll be forced to sell it out, leaving me to just the pizza place.”
Roxanne's food production company was built by her father, Daniel Murillo, he named it after his only child., and passed it down to her after
Angela, and Bridget the other friend rubbed Roxanne's hand to give comfort.
“That is actually a lot of money Roxanne, no one would just invest in your company out of the blues.”
Roxanne opened her mouth to answer, then she noticed Robert standing close by, he was obviously listening to their conversation.
“Don’t you have toilets to wash?,” she shouted at him.
“Get going before I set my anger on you.”
Robert bowed before leaving, as was expected of him to do anytime he leaves her presence.
He went straight for the cleaning supplies in the storage room, the only thing he didn't get were gloves.
He had been forbidden to use gloves when washing her toilet, Roxanne complained that with gloves on it was never neat.
As he opened the toilet door in her room, his phone buzzed, he brought it out, and read through, his eyes widening as he reached the end of the message.
The toilet equipment dropped on the ground, breaking the bleach bottle, including the bucket.
It turned out that one of the men he hired to work the drill on the oil field went to take a look again, the man just got a hunch to work on the machine again, surprisingly oil was found. The man quickly sent Robert the message of his latest discovery.
Robert gave a loud shout.
“Yes, yes, I am rich. Woooooh!”
With the oil from that field he can never get broke even when he dies.
Robert could not contain his excitement as he continued shouting at the top of his voice doing a dance.
The noise attracted Roxanne, she made her way to the room, one look at Robert dancing and the spilled bleach on the floor, she concluded that Robert was mad.
“What is the meaning of this?Have you lost it already?”
Robert let his excitement get the better of him.
“I am rich, you don't have to worry about selling out your company. I'll invest for you my dear wife.”
Roberts happiness only intensified Roxanne's anger,
“You are really mad, I'll have to call the police to come lock you up.”
Immediately, Robert did the one thing he had never dared to do since he married Roxanne, he grabbed her in his hands, and did a spin.

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-NINE
It was Saturday, and it was like a morning that didn't know it was different from other mornings. At six o'clock, it was time for Robert to get up. Clara wasn't awake yet. He was making coffee, and standing at the kitchen window watching the city below. Gray early light of a December morning. He had slept well.Better sleeping than he had done for weeks. The special clean sleep that is experienced by those who have had something good come along and temporarily take the place of anything else that had been in their way. After dinner he lay beside Roxanne, who was asleep within twenty minutes, and he glanced up at the ceiling for a while, but he did not think about anything he usually did at night. He had considered a little room. A crib next to the existing crib that is already in the penthouse. The sound of two children breathing. He was asleep while he had that thing in his mind.He was standing in front of the window, holding a cup of coffee.Roxanne came into the kitchen door. She
