Chapter 3

Tina started rubbing her hands on her lap. She felt like something was lost in her. She felt like she had done something bad.

"Did Ethan deserve all of this? Is this really how things will end? Am I doing the right thing? Am I treating Ethan how I'm supposed to treat him?" She mused to herself, feeling guilty.

Suddenly, a knock landed on the door. Ethan was playing a game on his phone, acting as if nothing had happened.

Tina stopped rubbing her hands on her lap. She got up and rushed to the door. She opened it and found her parents.

As they entered the house, Ethan raised his head to look at the person who entered. He realized that it was Tina's parents that had entered.

Tina's parents also saw him. Tina's mother shouted at him, asking, "What's wrong with you, Ethan? Where have you been for the last three days? What exactly is your problem?"

Tina's father added, "I don't know what his problem is. He has a very big problem, and it seems to be sticking to him."

Ethan replied," I have been busy since the last three days. And I have told Tina already what happened."

Tina's mother replied," When did you tell her? Is it not today?"

Ethan nodded.

Looking at him from head to toe, Tina's father hissed at him and said," You have been absent from the house for the past three days and you just told her the reason why you were absent today. Are you insane?"

Ethan kept quiet. He looked at Tina's father and bit his lips.

" I have told her the reason. So, there's nothing to worry about" Ethan replied.

Tina's father looked surprised. He didn't expect him to say such a thing.

Looking at Tina, he asked," Is it true that he has told you the reason why he's not home?"

Tina nodded.

" Who told you to Marry this kind of man, Ethan? What has gotten into him? He's very disrespectful and he lacks manners, "he said, facing Tina.

Tina's mother said," Just leave him alone and let him be. It's Tina's mistake choosing this poor man as the love of her life. Everything is going to end now".

Then, she said, showing Tina a picture on her phone," Anyways, this is Steven and he's the only son of James's Group, the top three companies in this city. He has all the qualifications to be your husband "

Ethan stopped playing his game after hearing this. He put his phone inside his pocket and started looking at what they were doing.

" Look at his eyes. You just wasted my daughter's time because she didn't deserve a person like you. You are not even up to her standard" Tina's father said, adjusting his glasses.

" Just sign the divorce Agreement and leave my daughter alone. You don't have the qualifications of being her husband. The Man here is richer than you. That's even an overstatement because you are not rich. What a poor man! " Tina's mother said, facing Ethan.

Ethan was just looking at them, with a smile on his face.

" You poor man, sign the papers and leave. You won't take a penny from Macy’s family." Tina's father affirmed.

Ethan laughed loudly and said, "Really? Am I wasting her time?" How long have I been wasting it? Is it from the day we got married? When did you realize that I have been wasting her time?"

Tina coughed, calling the attention of her parents. Then she said," Ethan had already signed the divorce papers and he won't take a penny "

Her parents were shocked to believe that he did such a thing. They have known Ethan to be a very poor guy and they think that it would be hard for me to agree to the divorce.

" He signed the divorce papers?" Tina's father asked, moving close to Tina.

Tina gave her father the papers to have a Check.

Tina's mother quickly joined Tina's father and they looked at it together.

" This is truly that poor man's signature. He signed the divorce papers when it was supposed to be hard on him to do such a thing. Did this poor guy have anyone else he could depend on?" Tina's mother said, Laughing.

Tina laughed and said," No. Maybe he's okay with poverty ".

Tina and her parents laughed.

Suddenly, Ethan got up.

Then, he said," Don't ever think that you are so popular, and don't think that it's everyone that wants to have a relationship with your family. And if you are all laughing because you are rich, you never became rich because of your effort ".

He paused, then he continued, saying "Tina - the new talented businesswoman? Have you forgotten that before she got married to me, you were already going bankrupt?"

" What are you talking about? What's wrong with you? How dare you talk to me in that way? Yes, we were going bankrupt before we got married but our success lies in my efforts. If not for me, it wouldn't have been successful. Do you think you did anything to prevent it from going bankrupt?" Tina said angrily.

Tina's parents nodded in agreement.

" Yes, that's true. He had no qualification to judge you on what you did. You saved Macy's business and this poor man did nothing. He's just eating out of your money ". Tina's father declared.

Ethan smiled. Then, he said," Really?"

Tina's mother became angry. She said," You are useless and I'm not sorry for saying that. Are you in your right senses? What did you do to the growth of Macy's business? You did nothing. If it's not for Tina, everything would have been ruined ".

Tina started to smile. She's happy because of her family's business success. She no longer feels guilty about what she did to Ethan.

Then, her father said," If not for Tina, how do you think the business would grow so fast? It became successful only because of her"

Ethan looked at Tina's father from head to toe. He hissed, looked at her mother, and chucked. Then, he laughed very loudly.

After a while, he adjusted his polo and put on his glasses. Smiling, he said " Let's see" and got out of the house.
