6. Not On My Watch!

Without waiting for his reply, Lily ended the call and Liam looked around the empty apartment one more time as the call ended.

At first, he wanted to believe that something was wrong with Lily, but after hearing her last words, a part of him couldn’t help but believe her.

There was just that feeling in his heart. The realization.

Without knowing, he had already settled in one corner of the floor and his mind started to wander to the memories they had both shared.

In their relationship, he had indeed been the one giving and Lily just taking.

Liam stood up, his eyes flashing with anger.

“Already even?” He scoffed as he looked around his empty house.

She had taken all that belonged to him and his prize money and she felt they were even?

Before he could think of the next point of action, his phone rang, disrupting his thought process.

“Liam, where are you?” Daniel’s voice rang out anxiously from the other end of the call.

Liam frowned slightly. Daniel was his coursemate and closest friend. However, like Liam, he was also from a humble family and couldn’t help him much. But since Liam was busy recently, Daniel had been helping him cover with lectures.

“I’m at the apartment, what’s the matter?”

Daniel sighed exaggeratedly. “That’s good; hurry to the department office now; the course officer has insisted on seeing you, or he would cancel your results for this year..”

Liam’s heart thumped at that revelation. If his results were to be cancelled, his scholarship would also get cancelled.

“I’ll be there in five minutes!” He hurriedly grabbed the folder with his sister’s health documents and rushed out of the apartment.

There was Rose’s payment hanging on his mind and how to deal with Lily but right now, this was the most important matter.

His apartment was not too far from the school, and he entered one of the shuttle buses that was going to and fro.

Just as he got down at the school gate, a luxury car parked with a loud screech beside him making him stop.

Liam was already agitated about some matters, now that his scholarship was on the line, he was even more tempered.

Seeing that a car was blocking his way, he frowned with dissatisfaction. But before he could say a word, the windows were rolled down, and a familiar face stared at him from the car.

“Lily, isn’t this your scum and broke ex-boyfriend?” One of Lily’s friends asked. Her voice was loud, and even some students stopped as they could sense that some drama was about to happen; after all, who didn’t like to see an ex-boyfriend being dealt with?

The front windows rolled down, and Liam’s eyes narrowed as he saw Jake, one of the school’s popular and rich boys. Beside him, Lily was sitting and glaring at him with disgust.

“Please don’t make it seem like we were dating; I was just with him for tutorials; it’s not my fault that he wanted more,” Lily said and then wrapped her arms around Jake.

“Baby, please don’t mind Stella, she likes to tease me too much.”

Jake chuckled and then glanced at Liam, his eyes holding the same disgust.

“I know he used to tag around you before,” he started as he opened the car door and stepped down.

Right behind his luxury car, another car had parked and four boys got down from the car.

“Jacob, is this boy disturbing you?” One of them asked.

Lily got down, too, and came to stand beside Jake. Liam’s eyes flashed with a cold light as he saw the way she hugged her body around him.

In the past when they were together, she used to claim that she didn’t like PDA. Even though they were a couple, they would walk around together without holding hands.

Now he could see that it wasn’t that she didn’t like it. She was just too ashamed of him!

“Hehe, teach this boy a lesson so that he stops disturbing my woman,” Jake ordered and then leaned back on his car.

Lily’s two friends got down also to watch the drama, and they all acted like they had no idea who Liam was, even though he had taken all of them out to eat more than once.

“There’s nothing between us, just now; you are the one that stopped the car; how can you say I’m disturbing your woman?”

Instead of replying, one of the four boys kicked at Liam from behind without any warning.

“How dare you think you can speak to Jake Willow like that? Do you know who he is?” another shouted as one more kick landed on Liam.

He fell to the floor immediately and with the shout, even more people were attracted to the drama and rushed over.

Before long, a small crowd gathered around them and people brought out their phones to record.

Liam stood up calmly. He was already used to hardship and with his body getting some sleep last night, he was in a better condition than the previous day.

However, he also wanted to avoid trouble; after all, Jake Willow had a reputation, and with his family’s background to support him, he acted like a tyrant everywhere.

Liam of course, didn’t want to add him to his troubles.

He took a deep breath before warning them, “There’s nothing between us, but if you decide to be unreasonable, I will not hold back.”

The four boys chuckled at his warning.

“Just daring to talk back to our leader already means you have to be dealt with!”

They formed a tight circle around Liam, preparing to teach him a lesson.

However, another car parked right in front of Jake’s car.

Even though he was in trouble, Liam’s flickered as he saw the limited edition Rolls Royce.

The car door opened, and a pair of long and slender legs stepped out.

“Not on my watch.”
