Kevin struck Gov. Aldric lightly behind the right side of the heart and then the left side, repeating the action twice before beginning a slow, careful massage.

Everyone in the room watched in confusion, especially the senior doctors, murmuring among themselves.

“What is this fool doing here? Someone get him out, he’s only making things worse!” one of the senior doctors shouted when Kevin stayed without any insignificant improvement, stepping forward to push Kevin away from the bedside.

But Camilla quickly slid in front of him, blocking his path. She stood her ground and gave him a piercing, warning stare.

“If you come any closer to him again, I will deal with you!” she threatened.

He immediately became frightened and stepped back. If someone as calm and kind as Camilla everyone admired could say something like that, then the situation was clearly serious.

“Why are you always determined to create chaos here?” she fired back at him. “Do you know this man saved me too three months ago? He performed the same CPR on me and my brother when our car crashed inside the lagoon.”

“You all can remember that?” She barked.

The doctor quickly averted his eyes, avoiding her intense stare. Everyone’s attention shifted back to Kevin and Gov. Aldric. When they checked the monitors, they noticed Aldric’s heartbeat and pulse were gradually returning to normal.

In the next moment, Gov. Aldric was sitting upright on the bed, calm and visibly reflective.

“What is going on? What happened to me?” he asked in confusion.

Seeing that his intervention had worked, Kevin felt a wave of relief and satisfaction. In that moment, he even forgot about the earlier boast made by the doctor who had mocked him.

Gov. Aldric was given some time to rest at the request of his daughter, Camilla, his firstborn.

The senior doctors quickly left the room, their faces filled with obvious frustration and anger. They pretended to be on a phone call, acting irritated by what they were hearing. For all of them to act similar, it was suspicious.

In reality, they harbored deep resentment towards Kevin now for being able to save the governor when they couldn't. Their CPR never worked. They believed the governor would never hold them in high esteem again.

When Gov. Aldric finally regained enough strength to stand, he walked over to Kevin. Overwhelmed, Kevin immediately dropped to his knees before him, unable to meet Gov. Aldric’s gaze.

“Please, stand up. Get on your feet. Who exactly are you, young man?” Gov. Aldric asked.

“I will speak on his behalf,” Camilla said quickly, her voice filled with excitement and relief.

“He is the man who saved me three months ago. You must have forgotten, before you drowned at the pool, I told you I'd found him and brought him home.”

“Ohhh!” Gov. Aldric bashed his forehead trying to remember. Slowly the memories started swimming in, a slight smile spread across his face, widening into a real smile.

“Is he the one?” Gov. Aldric asked excitedly.

“Yes,” Camilla nodded. “And he also saved you. I'd be so sad to lose you.” She wept, hugging her dad so tight.

Gov. Aldric gestured to him to come and hug him. Kevin suppressed his grin, he found it hard to control his feelings but still had to because of the status of the man he was standing before.

“What's your name?” Gov. Aldric asked.

“Kevin.” He didn't want to mention his real name at the moment to avoid attention. Because with the governor, he couldn't lie, at the same time he wanted to test if Camilla really loved her. What happened with Ivy, he couldn't bear that bear to see it occur again.

“Kevin! That’s a wonderful name,” Aldric said approvingly. “I really need to entertain you, you've done a lot for me.”

“Thank you, your excellency!” Kevin curtsied.

His PA came in at that moment and whispered to him. “Your Excellency, you've got a checkup with your cardiologist in ten minutes.”

He then turned to Kevin. “Camilla will lead you to me soon.” He said before he rushed out of the room.

Camilla then turned toward the remaining doctors, nodding her head slowly and repeatedly. She began clapping in a measured, deliberate rhythm before folding her arms across her chest. Slowly, she walked toward them.

“So where are those senseless and wicked seniors of yours? Have they run away? And where exactly do they think they are escaping to?” She asked.

The closer she got, the more fear gripped them, as they anxiously wondered what she intended to do.

Kevin stood watching everything unfold, completely speechless. He had no words at all. Then she stopped and turned to him.

“Mr. Kevin, I am truly grateful to you for saving my father. At least now he can return to his rightful position,” Camilla said appreciatively as she hugged him. Mouths whispered as she hugged Kevin but seeing Camilla turn, they all kept quiet.

“Alright, I'm glad I could help.”

Kevin was ready to go when Camilla grabbed him. “You can't just go like that. Come greet my dad at the hospital, probably he has some questions to ask you. Your presence alone with me might soothe him.”

Kevin blinkers, trying to understand the tone her voice was going, where her last statement sounded romantic.

Seeing them walk hand in hand, some of the governor's men who secretly wanted Camilla frowned. This felt like a direct humiliation to them.

Camilla couldn’t help but smile slightly while they scowled in frustration.

They arrived at Regal Grove Hospital, the best in Ferida. Meanwhile, on the lower floors of the hospital, chaos was already unfolding.

“Mom! How can that poor, useless guy hit me and nothing was done about it? We must teach him a lesson!”

Camilla looked and it was an elderly woman walking with Ivy, next to her was Alan, the people she saw at the park attacking Kevin.

Alan writhed in pain on the stretcher he was carried, struggling to breathe heavily. His face was wrapped in bandages and plaster.

“Is this a joke?” Kevin who sighted them hissed. “Because of that common blow I gave him?”

“Don’t worry, we’ll have him arrested and punished severely. After all, he won’t always be around Camilla,” The mother-in-law Kevin had barely seen in her five years with Ivy was now following by the side, wheeling the stretcher.

"Bianca came for her new son-in-law because he's rich.” Kevin smirked.

“Ivy, isn’t it truly cruel that Kevin had the boldness to lay hands on both of you? I mean, he clearly has no respect at all,” Bianca balled her hands in fury.

“Don't let this case go.....oo. What do you call a governor's daughter?” She scoffed.

“Before she came to him, that asshole man, forget her position, she's a bitch!”

Ivy suddenly burst into laughter.

“I know a few tough men for hire who can give him a proper lesson. Should I take care of it for you, Ivy?” Bianca asked.

“Mom, make sure they beat some sense into him. Break a bone or two!” Alan growled angrily while still lying on the bed.

Unknown to them the man and woman they were talking of were following right behind them. Kevin

“Of course. I guarantee you, he’ll be nothing more than a living corpse when we’re done with him!” Bianca bragged with a cruel laugh.

Truthfully, Kevin’s marriage to Ivy had long irritated her. How could someone so poor and seemingly insignificant end up with such a beautiful, elegant woman as his daughter when there's Alan, a wealthy heir.

Camilla's heart beat furiously that she almost escaped off Kevin's grip to fight but Kevin held her. She didn't want people saying a woman fought for him. He wanted to handle this himself, hence being with the governor's daughter, some other way would be better.

Kevin whispered to Camilla. “Go to your dad's ward. I'm coming after you.”

“What are you planning?” Camilla asked but she didn't answer her.

“Don't worry,” he assured her. Camilla didn't agree to leave his side until after persistent persuasion. She had thought he wanted to fight again. But no, that's not what Kevin planned.

Pulling off his phone, he scribbled a text to the doctor of the emergency ward, the ward Alan was being wheeled to. “Can I replace you for thirty minutes?”

“What happened, sir?” Doctor George quickly replied the moment he saw a text from his number.

“There's someone I want to deal with. Don't worry I wouldn't kill him, the worst thing is he's not sick. I guess he has a hideous plan.”

George didn't argue. “Right away, sir!” Kevin took another way to the ward, reaching before Alan got invited in. By then he was already dressed in the doctor's code, his face was covered and the eyes which would enable recognition, he had a tinted glass on.

Alan came in with Bianca and Ivy. He toned his voice lighter than normal, like an effeminate, a real jovial one. “What's your problem, sir?” He asked. “Accident? Physical altercation?”

“Yesss.” Alan didn't even let him finish. “I was struck by one asshole, my brother whose wife I took. He lunged on me. This is gonna be a very secret plan.” He whispered. “I wanna teach him a big lesson.”

“I have always known you to be my twin, Freya. We might not be related by blood but we think alike and all. Do you know I said that to him earlier?” Camilla choked with emotion.“That’s because our hearts have always belonged to us you know. Camilla, I really hope your happiness lasts forever. Congratulations again. And yes, I think we need to start preparing. Please tell me what to do and I'll get it done.” Freya muttered in happiness.“Right I thought the same but Kevin seems like he doesn't want me bothering about that. Or I guess I need to talk to him about the preparations, you know.” Camilla replied as she thought it through.Kevin’s words rang in her ears again and somehow she started to convince herself that really he didn't need her worrying about the preparations. She planned to ask him later though.“No problems Camilla. Doesn't matter if it's midnight. If you need me for anything that's related to the wedding, please ring my phone.” Freya told her regardless. “Gotcha darl

“What are you thinking?” Camilla laughed.“Ummm!” Freya cleared her throat. “Umm umm,” then they both laughed as they enjoyed the water. Not long after they got out, Camilla brought out the native cooking iron with the charcoal and lit it up. “It's been like ages since I used this. After my last relationship that was ruined by Marco, I decided to stop doing this. But it's because this was the last thing I did with him. He loves barbecue a whole lot.” Camilla muttered. “But now I feel like I can. Kevin is too much for him, I guess. And this husband of mine has healed me from a whole lot.” “That monster really did a lot. But it's fine. You have me and nothing will happen to either of us henceforth.” she replied to her and coughed to lighten the atmosphere. “I'll help you. Look Camilla, you better not give a sad face. I need you looking your best. You need to look your best, do you hear me? I want that smile. That's what gets me smiling hard too.” Camilla nodded and brought out her cut

She was still on that when she heard Freya’s presence. She turned and watched as her friend jumped towards her. Camilla got out of the pool and hugged Freya very tight. “You didn't plan to be somewhere today?” she asked her.She knew Freya well enough that she barely let her morning go that easily. “Well I did but it's nothing serious so I can definitely answer you. Actually, work has been so boring these days. Same routine over and over again. What about you?” she asked Camilla.“I'll be working from home today,” she replied to her. “After all, there's really nothing serious to attend to at the office, and by the way it's been very boring too. Thankfully I'm no longer single to deal with that alone. Honestly Freya, I really think you should say yes to someone. That way we will both get

“Can we hold a wedding to honor our marriage?” Kevin suddenly uttered. Even he had no idea how and when it slipped. After he recovered, he continued. “Actually I want to give you a high-profile wedding Camilla. One that you deserve and it will be fully sponsored by me. If you give me a go-ahead, I'll make that happen for us.”Camilla sat there, stunned to her bones. Knowing his financial capacity, she never thought that could be possible for her in this marriage and in actual fact, she never had a problem with it. But hearing him bring it up like this, she felt that girlishness in her move. Her excitement was bubbling. “Really Kevin? You want us to get married? Like you want us to like actually have a wedding?” she asked. He nodded his head. “I want to give you all the experience you deserve Camilla.”Her palms were on her face this time as she stared at him in surprise. “I just wanted to be sure that my daughter is fine and everything is cool. You haven't called me even once to complain, child. Remember when you started working for the first time, though everyone knew better to behave well around you, you still called me for personal complaints. But ever since you married you haven't called to complain, not even about the little stress you might be facing in the marriage child.” he said to her.Camilla almost busted out laughing. “Father!” she cracked a bit. “Okay well, that's because he isn't bothering me you know. He's very peaceful and gives me all the comfort I need.” she muttered with smiles reaching her soul. “I can see that. I never expected that though. You know when you marry a man not as elite as you, most times it turns tragic. I know Kevin has shown me he's not like that, but I still have to check on you from time to time. You have to promise me that if it ever gets tough you will tell your father.” he told her, his eyes very affectionat
