“Mr. Kevin, have the result of the paternity test.” Alexis, his family doctor, handed it over to him. Kevin was at the final step of finally inheriting his grandfather's multi-billion dollar empire.

He was already smiles as he glanced at the envelope.

He’d present this to his granddad tonight.

But then Dr. Alexis cut in sharply. “I guess your marriage with her is over.”

“Huh?” He edged his brow, wondering why his wife's bestie would say that. “What did you just spit?” Kevin asked, glaring into the paternity test result right away.

His eyes strode down to the Father’s spot and instantly, his world stopped!

“I’m not the father?” His voice sounded in a deadly suppressed growl. “What's this trash?”

“Should you be asking me this or your wife?”

“And where’s she?” Kevin snapped.

Kevin wanted this to be a dream so bad, one he would wake up from the moment he steps out of this hospital. Else!

But then It was suspicious, what Alexis just said. His heart began to beat deep slowly.

He had the urge to grab the doctor’s beck and force words out of her mouth.

But his last shred of patience prevented it.

Kevin thought to call his wife and ask since Alexis wouldn’t speak but she barely picked his call. Since she became the Chief Auditor of the State, recently appointed, she's been treating him like dirt. Always left their kids, Roman and Eva to him alone, like she never birth them.

That was never a problem to him, even when she blantantly refused to accompany him to get the dna result of their kids.

And here at Carrington Hospital, he’s been told crap.

“Could it be…” he couldn’t finish his words.

His hands formed fists. Ivy dared to treat him like this after everything? “What the fuck do I look like in her eyesight? A bumass?” He lips muttered.

“What the hell? What the whole hell is this?” He flung the file to the desk angrily. “There has to be a mixup Alexi! My kids are mine! They look like me…”

A slight, sinister smile curved on Alexis’s face. “Maybe your wife has gone to receive her billionaire boyfriend coming back from abroad today.” She said, cutting me.

“What?” Kevin's eyes nearly dropped off but Alexis smirked, walking off and shutting the door behind her before he could escape the massive shock.

In Ferida, Ivy was seen as the most suitable spinster, even when she was a married woman. So many top men wanted her and for the five years they've been together, she never had time for any one of them.

His granddad, the richest man in the State had sent him away to go see how the world is, make his own money before rising to his proper status.

“Find a good woman who doesn't care really much about money, get kids with her. Your kids are what you'd need to inherit my properties. I give you five years, lest Alan will take your place.” His grandfather said to him before leaving home at twenty. Meanwhile Alan was his younger brother. A college student abroad then but had recently graduated and was coming back home.

Kevin thought Ivy loved him but everything now spiraled in blurry images across his mind. He forgot to breathe. Still he stood for the next thirty minutes, without even knowing.

After so many failed attempts, the call finally went through.

“Ivy, how dare you?” He growled, the veins of his forehead threatening to burst. “The kids are not mine? I need answers now!! Don’t you dare ask for death!!”

“Babe, who's that?” He heard a man's voice from the background. Somewhat familiar. His heart spiralled with shock.

“Ivy, who's with you?” But she didn't say a word, heightening his flaming anger.

Then Ivy cleared her throat. “I'm pretty sure our doctor briefed you on everything.” She maintained that cold chill, not even the slightest guilt or remorse.

Ken gave a dangerous laugh, his palms pushing back his hair, rear sling his popped out forehead veins.

That ‘our’ had been his favorite word but now, it was a a slap to his face. He guessed right, she was indeed mocking him and their crumbled relationship.

She continued.

“I didn't want to give you a double heartbreak by presenting both files at once. My lawyer will locate you soon. I've got no time to see you.”

“IVY!!!!!” He growled her name in capital letters, enough to pull down the office ceiling.

“Are you deaf?” She barked. “Look don't make me repeat my words.” She said before her pitch came low, probably as she remembered her new man was with her.

“Busy with my new man who just came from abroad. A billionaire. I wasn't meant to marry a poor truck driver. Not a high class woman like me.” She hissed and cut the call leaving Kevin pacing the office in fury.

When he finally decided to go home and wait for her, to see things for himself, incase this was just a prank from his wife, the security guards who had always called him ‘boss’ stopped him.

“Madam gave us an order, you can no longer go in.”

Without warning, his forehead hit against the speaking guard’s forehead. The guard fell like a leaf in the air. He was about to lunge at the others with fury when a car drove up, stopping just beside him, then Ivy’s lawyer stepped out.

The lawyer took out some files from his folder.

“Mr. Kevin. I was mandated to give you this by your wife. Here. Sign them!” He said matter-of-factly, barely looking at his face.

Really?

Kevin was just realizing how weak these assholes thought he was!

He then reluctantly grabbed the paper, opened and stared at it. The first words met his hardened gaze.
