Chapter 20: Meeting Royalty
"Enough," the baron snapped, causing everyone to fall silent. "Shaun, explain yourself.""I have no clue, sir. I've never met the prince before," Shaun said as he kept his head down.It wasn't a lie. While he might have seen the prince on occasion, he had never actually interacted with the man. Instantly, everything had gone back to normal. Shaun was no longer looking at himself and his demonic looking bullies. He blinked several times as he looked for someone who had spoken up. His eyes fell on a familiar man. It was one of the other heroes. Shaun hadn't expected any of them to step up and interfere when the majority of the heroes were in the same group.A part of him felt bitter. Back in his first life, no one had stepped up for him. Everyone always looked away, as they had been afraid to be the new target if they interfered. Of course he would have done the same, but it still left a bitter aftertaste knowing that no one had been willing to help him. No one had even tried like the hero was currently doing."What do you want?" one of the bullies asked. "Can't you see we're busy?""Why are you bothering him? Becky's face burned from humiliation. It wasn't her fault that she had dirtied her clothes in the heat of the moment. Shaun had been looming over her with the threat of death hanging over her neck. If it weren't for that, she would have never made such a mess of herself. Then she realized the other part of his sentence as her face scrunched up in confusion again."I'm returning to the mansion?
