Chapter 5

Damon watched with his wide-eyed, as the hotel workers’ trembled and the tension in the air thickened.

Damon slowly walked over to Vivan and whispered close enough for her to hear, “Forget about them. I’m used to this treatment anyway…”

The woman named Vivan looked at him as she felt an ache in her heart. She could feel the bitterness and helplessness in Damon’s words, along with a subtle hint of his inferiority complex.

The manager immediately rushed over, bowing his head in contrition. “Please, ma’am, we’re sorry. We’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Vivan, still taken aback by the scene, straightened her posture and fixed her gaze on the trembling staff. “You should treat all guests with respect. No one deserves to be made to feel small,” she asserted.

"Miss Bennett!" The manager came running towards the scence in tremble, "this is entirely our fault. I’ll discipline her in due time. Please accept our heartfelt apologies,” The manager pleaded sincerely before turning to the workers in annoyance, "How dare you cause a scene? do you know how she is?"

The workers instantly trembled and started to slap themselves even harder, “we are sorry. we are so, so sorry…”

They slapped themselves with each apology until the corners of their mouth started to bleed.

“Apologize to my friend!” Vivan ordered coldly.

“Of course, of course… we are sorry, Sir. we were wrong…”

The workers do not seem to care anymore that Damon was a beggar and immediately knelt in front of him to apologize.

His hatred toward the workers started to manifest. He needed to make sure that they did not continue acting like that in the future.

She might have been let off the hook on that occasion, but allowing her to continue with her shenanigans would eventually spell doom for him too!

Get up! Since my friend has elected to forgive you, I will agree to give you one more chance. I hope you’ll learn to shape up in the future!” Vivan snorted coldly.

She was capable of forgiving when the situation called for it.

After all, she never liked using her identity to oppress others, and she did not want to argue with some insignificant people.

“Thank you, Miss Bennett. Thank you, Sir…”

The workers was finally brave enough to stand up, for she felt as if she was just granted a pardon. However, the clothes on her back were already soaked in cold sweat.

“I assure you ma'am, this will be handled promptly.” The Manger continued, “ I’ll have a VIP room booked for you and your guest immediately.”

“Make it two VIP rooms,” she ordered, her tone still icy. “I want them both prepared.”

The manager swallowed hard, his demeanor shifting as he scrambled to comply. “Of course, ma’am. Right away,” he said, bowing slightly before rushing off, clearly shaken by her commanding presence.

Damon’s head spun. This woman, whoever she was, commanded respect without lifting a finger. He felt a strange mix of gratitude and confusion.

“Let’s go, Damon"

Starprize suite was one of the most famous, upscale villas in Springfield City. Mountains and rivers surrounded the area and blessed it with exceptionally beautiful scenery.

Those who could afford to live there had to be rich and famous, muses of business tycoons, or those whose reputations were synonymous with elegance and luxury.

And Vivan had just booked a two vip Suites with high amount for both of them

Damon wanted to open his mouth to protest, but he couldn’t. He just followed Vivan, still trying to process everything that had just unfolded. Her aura of authority, combined with her compassion, left him both impressed and unsettled. He had never met anyone quite like her—someone who could stand up for him and still remain poised and graceful

As they stepped into the grand lobby of the Starprize Suite, Damon couldn't help but marvel at the luxurious surroundings. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, their light refracting into rainbows that danced across the polished marble floors. The air smelled faintly of lavender, adding to the place's opulence.

Vivan walked ahead, her heels clicking softly on the floor. She stopped at the front desk, where the staff greeted her with utmost respect.

“Miss Bennett, your suites are ready,” the receptionist announced, handing over two keycards with a deep bow. “If there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to let us know.”

Vivan took the keycards, handing one to Damon. “This is yours,” she said, her tone softer now.

"Thank you, but you don’t have to..."

“Damon,” she interrupted, her eyes locking onto his with quiet determination. “I want to. Consider it a gift.”

Damon sighed, unsure of how to respond. The last thing he wanted was to feel like a burden, but he also knew arguing with her was futile. He let out a awkward smile smile, "I’ll return the money you spent on my rent when I’ve earned some money…”

Vivan smiled in return and did not take his words to heart as they walk out of the Elevator.

"I was able to recover your bag form the men who stole it. It is with me, I will have my men bring it go you as soon as you settle in."

Damon’s Eyes lit up in surprise, his bag which he thought was stolen was about to be brought back? he knew he didn't have much asset. However, his School certificate, his work promotion, his ID card, And every meaningful thing he had strived to get was inside that bag and now he was going to get it back.

“You’re a lifesaver, Thank you!"

Damon smiled feeling so calm around her, as they git to the front of the suite.

Damon looked at her, his chest tightened with every word she said. Let’s be together. It should’ve sounded simple, like something he could reach out and take. But instead, it felt like stepping off a cliff. He shook his head slowly. “You don’t know what you’re asking for, Vivan.” Her eyes glistened, with raw emotion. “I know exactly what I’m asking for. I’m asking you to stop running from me. Damon." He turned away, his hand tightened around the edge of the counter. “If I let myself want this… I’ll destroy you.” She frowned. “Destroy me? Damon, you already saved me more times than you realize. Don’t turn this into some noble excuse to keep pushing me away, Damon. Look at me!" she said as she moved his face to face her. "I understand, that you didn't have an happy marriage but I’m not her,” she whispered, her thumb brushing lightly over his jaw. “I’m not here to hurt you, Damon. I’m here because I want you, Damon. Tell me you don't feel anything and I will leave." He star

“I’m going to teach you a lesson, you bastard!” Sebastian’s voice tore through the air. He lunged forward, his eyes burned with fury, but before his fist could land, another voice cut through the noise, this was calm, commanding, but sharp enough to slice through his anger. “Enough!” Everyone froze. Vivan stood at the doorway, her expression unreadable but her presence strong enough to silence the entire room. Her voice didn’t rise, but it carried weight — the kind that made people listen whether they wanted to or not. “Mr. Lockwood,” she said, her tone firm, “you’re coming with me. Now.” Two men in dark suits stepped forward behind her. Within seconds, Sebastian was restrained, still struggling but he was outmatched. His protest died the moment her eyes locked with his. “Take him to the precinct,” she ordered coolly. “No special treatment. I’ll handle the paperwork myself.” The men nodded and led him out. The room grew quiet again, thick with tension that refused to fade. Vi

"I am going to teach you a lesson, you bastard!" Vivan immediately stood up hearing those words, and knowing that if the matter is not carefully taken care of, it might escalate. “Enough!” she said with a calm and commanding voice that resounded in the room, like a blade. Every head turned toward her. Even Sebastian froze in his mid-motion, his jaw felt still tight and his glare locked on Damon. “Mr. Lockwood,” she said firmly, straightening her blazer as she faced him, “this is a professional setting, not a playground for personal grudges or ego battles. I would advise we all remember why we’re here to close a deal, not start a war.” Her tone was unshakable and Sharp, but dignified. Even the board members, who moments ago looked ready to bolt, now sat silently, watching her command the room with authority. Sebastian’s fist loosened slowly. He exhaled, forcing a faint smile as he leaned back into his chair. “Of course, Miss Whitmore, anything for you." Vivan’s eyes narro

The room was already thick with tension when the doors opened again. Every head turned as he walked in — Sebastian Lockwood. Rich. Sophisticated. Perfectly composed in a tailored suit that probably cost more than Damon’s entire wardrobe. His presence alone drew attention — quiet, commanding, deliberate. He didn’t need to raise his voice; the world bent toward him naturally. But Damon saw the flicker in his eyes first — not interest in the meeting, not even in the negotiation — but in Vivan. Lockwood’s gaze lingered on her for a second too long, his expression polite, almost charming. But Damon knew the type — the kind of man who smiled while calculating what he could own. Vivan, ever the professional, kept her posture straight. Her expression was unreadable, her voice composed when she greeted, “Mr. Lockwood.” “Miss Whitmore” Sebastian replied, his tone smooth as silk. “It’s been far too long. You look… radiant as ever.” Vivan’s lips curved faintly, though her eyes rem

Damon stared at her, the words sinking in deeper than he wanted to admit. He wasn’t used to being seen like that — not for his presence, not for his integrity. He’d spent years being seen as the weapon, the threat, the one they called when someone needed to be silenced. Not the one people believed in. He tore his gaze away, inhaling slowly. “And if I screw this up?” Vivan didn’t hesitate. “Then you learn. But you don’t back down.” The firmness in her tone made something in his chest steady — a small, fragile thing trying to become courage. He nodded once, more to himself than her. “Alright. Let’s go through it again.” Vivan’s lips curved into the faintest smile. “Good. You’ll open by acknowledging their proposal—don’t agree, just acknowledge. Then pivot to the supply imbalance.” Damon tried to follow, his mind running a thousand miles a minute as she spoke. The words — trade, boundaries, resources — felt like a foreign language. But her voice anchored him. Calm. Clear. Steady.

Damon quickly reached for the phone, grabbing it before Klaus could step closer. “That? Oh, yeah, she, uh, brought it here last night,” he said, his voice a touch too casual. “She was helping me with my shoulder, remember? It was pretty bad after dinner. I think she left it behind when she went back to her room.” Klaus’s brow furrowed slightly. “She was here last night?” Damon nodded smoothly, slipping the phone into his good hand and gesturing vaguely toward the table. “Just to help. She insisted on doing that, stubborn as ever.” Klaus gave a small chuckle at that, though his gaze still lingered suspiciously on Damon’s face. “That sounds like her,” he said slowly. “Always insisting she knows best.” “Exactly,” Damon said with a grin, relieved that his excuse seemed to be working. “Trust me, she was bossing me around like a doctor on call. I think she even threatened to confiscate my Charger if I didn’t rest.” Klaus’s lips twitched into an amused smile. “That does sound like V
