Mason eventually took a walk outside, enjoying the night breeze and seeking solace beneath the dark sky.

He halted his steps when he noticed a small child sitting nearby.

Frowning, Mason approached the child. “Why are you out here at this hour?”

The child looked melancholic, sitting on the ground with his arms wrapped tightly around his knees.

He lifted his head to glance at Mason before nodding slightly and speaking in a quiet voice, “I just got scolded by my parents. That’s why I’m here.” After saying that, the child lowered his head again.

“You should go inside and leave this place. The night can be frightening,” Mason deliberately said this to urge the child to return home.

However, just as Mason finished speaking, a ball was suddenly thrown at him, grazing his back slightly.

Upon feeling the impact, Mason swiftly turned around, his sharp gaze locking onto the person who had thrown the ball.

His expression turned cold and piercing—he did not take kindly to such treatment.

The chil
