Without even questioning Lucas to know exactly how he wronged Alex, he faced him with a serious look on his face and said.

“You heard him well. Go on your knees and apologize!" He declared firmly.

Lucas desperately scurried out from behind the counter and met Alex with a remorseful and guilty countenance. “Sir..I'm sorry about how I talked to you then...I never knew you're from the stone fa..." He stretched his hand to reach Alex but George's voice cut in harshly.

“If you dare lay a finger on him!!" He glared at him. “Obey the instruction before any complain otherwise you'll be forced to apologize! I can make you do worse!"

Lucas gulped hard. He frankly knew the Chief of police could do worse just like he claimed.

He could feel the eyes of his colleagues burrowing on his body, anticipating him to kowtow.

What a huge shame it'll be on him because he had always bragged that no one can ever make him go on his knee!

Thud!

The Sergeant fell on his knee and looked up to Alex as if he's a god. He clamped his two palms together and started apologizing.

“Im..sorry sir... Please don't let them fire me.. Please Sir..." He pleaded desperately, greasing his palm together.

Alex chuckled and looked down on him. “So you can really beg? Huh? What happened to the part of sanctioning me? Who is getting sanctioned now?" He laughed softly and waved his hand at him dismissively.

“Just fire him." He said and stepped aside without taking another glance at the Sergeant.

“You're fired Lucas! I must not see you in this office again! Never! And your career ends here- No police department shall recruit you in the city!" George declared and turned to the nearest officer.

“Strip him off his clothes!!" He instructed.

“Ah.. please sir..I swear on my life that this will never happen again!! I was ignorant..." The reality of the situation hit Lucas hard. He cried out desperately with tears blurring his vision. He tried to reach Alex's leg but he stepped away from him.

“Throw him out after you strip him!" George added and turned to Alex with a practiced smile on his face, his demeanor displaying full respect.

“I'm sorry for the little trouble we caused you Mr. Alex..Shall we proceed into my office to discuss now?!"

“It's not necessary." He simply refused politely and continued. “A lady was arrested some minutes ago and brought here. I just want you to set her free." He said.

“What's her name?"

“Rose Wallace."

“What are you all waiting for!??! Go release her!!" George barked.

Rose on the other hand could be seen in an investigation room which has a reflecting glass wall. She seated before a long table with a cuff around her wrist. Her head tilted and droplets of tears tickled from it on the table.

The door of the room suddenly opened forcefully, startling her. She raised her head to see a cop entering the room.

Rose knew it was time to get interrogated but the man surprised her by walking to her then he unlocked the cuffs in her hand.

“You're free to ma." The man bowed slightly.

Rose gasped. Has Roberto found out that she's actually innocent of the accusation!? She wondered.

“I'm free to go?!" Rose looked up at the man with swollen eyes due to incessant tears.

The man nodded with a smile. “Yes.. someone bailed you." He revealed.

Rose was shocked. “Someone?!" She couldn't stop staring at the officer, her confusion etching all over her face.

She had no family except her mother who is currently lying on a sick bed in a hospital. Who could have bailed her then? Her thoughts swirled.

Stepping out of the station, Rose let out a relieving breath. She couldn't stop pondering on who could have bailed her.

Already, Robert had retrieved the $100,000 from her account before she was arrested.

Standing beside the sidewalk, she checked her bag for her debit card only to discover it missing.

“Jezz!! I must have lost it in the bank." She lamented.

Elijah was still around the police station. He smiled satisfactorily when he saw Rose leaving the Police station till she stood along the Sidewalk. Elijah quickly noticed her restlessness after she checked her bag.

“She must be looking for her debit card." He knew instinctively.

Elijah quickly flagged down a taxi and entered the front seat. Fortunately, he was the only passenger.

“Hey..it's you!!" The taxi driver blurted out surprisingly.

Elijah looked at the driver and recognized him as the driver earlier who he sent $3000 to. He smiled.

He simply nodded with a smile.

“You have made so much money from begging. How long have you been begging on the street?" Jude stated his observation and glanced at him.

Elijah didn't reply but he suddenly chipped in. “Can you stop and carry that lady when you get to her? Don't let her know I'm paying the transport fare. " He pointed at Rose who was still standing along the sidewalk.

The driver smiled. “Your secret crush?"

Elijah simply smiled.

The driver pulled over beside Rose.

“Enter miss." The driver called out to her from the car.

Rose looked behind her as if the driver was directing his statement to someone behind her but no one was there so she turned back and pointed a finger to herself.

“I?" She wanted to be sure.

The driver smiled and nodded.

Rose's eyes shifted to Elijah at the front seat. Observing the hood covering his face, he looks familiar but didn't remember where she met him before.

Nonetheless, she entered the taxi reluctantly. “Thanks for offering a helping hand sir..but..I..I don't really have any money to pay. I lost my debit card."

Jude smiled at her through the rear view mirror. ”The pleasure is mine, Miss...You don't need to pay. It's my daughter's birthday today so I'm giving five passengers a free ride to any location. You're the last person."

Hearing that, Elijah smiled, admiring the driver's smartness.

Rose leaned forward eagerly with a genuine smile across her face. “Really?!! That's so kind of you. Help me wish your daughter a happy birthday. She is a very lucky girl to have a loving father like you." Rose complimented with a smile.

“I’m flattered, miss.” Jude smiled and glanced at Elijah.

After some moments of silence in the drive that took over 10 minutes. Jude asked.

“Where are you heading to miss?"

“Crescent hospital." Rose replied with a hint of grief in her voice.

“Ohh..right on time. Here we are." Jude pulled over along the road when he got to Crescent hospital.

“Hospital? Why did she come to a hospital?" Elijah mused.
