"I was wondering why you didn't come to see me all this time" Orie said to Natsumi but got no reply.
"You're usually the first to talk, you know" "Now you have me in an awkward position" "I already know what you want so I'm not going to ask" "But you have to tell me one thing" "HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT?" Edwin Law, official and only referee of the tournament. He had been officiating for the past two years but his name became well known after he declared Orie winner over Chris. He was rumored to be one of those who had "god eyes" but that match confirmed to the public that it was true. Eyes that see through deception, eyes that see what is true, eyes that nothing can escape, The eyes of the law. With his eyes he was able to see and perfectly replay past events in order to make sound judgement. Edwin's eyes allowed him to analyze all the previous matches he had officiated but even after replaying them over and over yet, he had no confidence in any possible outcome of the day's match. "Come on, Ed" he said in a tone that carried great anticipation. "It's showtime" The fight started as soon as Ed sounded the buzzer. By the time it was done sounding, the entire stadium had instantly gone cold. The audience looked down and saw Orie frozen in his stance and Natsumi shooting an icicle at him. There is this slight moment before disaster where you see what could happen before it actually does. The assumptions are correct most of the time but the results hit you differently. In that one instant, you both know and don't know what actually happened. It creates an uncertainty that can only be cleared along with the mist. The impact was loud and released a great amount of vapour into air. People in the audience were waiting to see if what they thought happened actually happened or if Orie being Orie, brought about another outcome. The answer was revealed by the clearing of the mist and Orie was being Orie. As unlikely as it was, Orie coming out alive from such an attack was not exactly a thing of surprise. His previous matches had left an impression on the spectators that he was not easy to take down. No one could tell how he would survive but all they knew was that it would not be a shock to them if he did. Skillfully swirling his staff, Orie braced himself for the next volley of attacks that were coming. Natsumi on the other hand, charged her icicles to shoot at him. The icicles spun and shot at incredible speeds; so fast that they could barely be followed by normal eyes. As fast as the icicles shot, Orie was adept at hitting them off their course and none of them were able to hit him. He would hit them away and move closer to his opponent, some waves were able to halt his advance while others were easily hit aside. There was one thing about the ongoing match that the crowd could completely agree on and it was the fact that Natsumi was intent on ending it as quickly as possible. Each shot was faster than the last and came with more force and just by sight and sound alone, they could tell that the impact of every one of them was heavy. Despite the weight of Natsumi's strikes, Orie kept his calm and held firmly to his staff. It was a heavy staff made of pure wood but it had the durability of iron. Written on the staff was some sort of code and beside the code was an inscription, the code read "JUDG3V31" and the inscription beside it read "shamgar" Orie was confident in his weapon mastery but even he was surprised by how calmly he handled the incoming attacks. He could not rationalize how he himself was able to neutralize so many incoming shots without skipping a beat. It was as if the staff was guiding his movements. "What did this girl give me?" He wondered as he suddenly vanished from his opponent's field of vision. Before Natsumi could comprehend such a movement, Orie was already beside her, ready to strike. She managed to block his staff but he immediately disappeared again. Orie began launching high speed attacks from all angles and Natsumi was forced to go on the defensive. "Ellie Porter here" "Today we have a special guest" "We didn't exactly invite him but we are glad for the chance we have to interview him" "So ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to..." "...Victor Murasaki" she said as the camera turned to face Victor. "I don't know how many of you that actually know him but this guy is the son of the school principal, and also a promising participant in upcoming students' tournament" "He is known to be the academic number one of the SHIN SEKAI academy with nearly perfect scores in everything" "Today, he is here to be our analyst and to help us further under the ongoing match" "So Victor" Ellie said looking at him "What can you tell us about this ongoing match?" She asked "ORIE WILL WIN" Victor answered with a straight face. He didn't wait for a reply before continued to speak. "If you look well you would see it" "Ms. Fubuki started with full force and has been constantly throwing one powerful attack after the other and freezing the entire arena to make it her playing field" "Mr. Addison on the other hand, has not even used an ounce of his magic. Everything he has done so far has been purely physical" "But how is he keeping himself from freezing?" Ellie asked "Not even the barriers could stop the cold from reaching the audience" she added. Victor replied Ellie's question with another question. "What do you think happens when someone moves that fast with just his muscle power?" "Such person is meant to overheat" "But Orie is in a place that is so cold he doesn't have worry about that" "In other words, he is only able to do this because of his opponent" "But that's not all" "The way he swings his staff also has something to do with it" "The air around him is flowing differently from others" "Wow" Ellie exclaimed with joy after hearing Victor's analysis. "One more question" she added "What can you tell us about Orie's power?" She asked "He does so many things so we can't tell what exactly his abilities are" Victor kept silent for a while before answering "Officially, it is said to be unspecified" "But that can't be true as no one can escape the law of the name" "It's not a common law but it implies that the power of a person must have a single name that it adheres to" " If there is any name that Orie's power adheres to" "It would be..." Although Kaen was dealt many heavy blows during the match, the thing that ultimately brought him down was exhaustion. By the time the match was over, the only thing he had the strength to do was breathe. It was a great fight and he enjoyed every bit of it but he woke up in a hospital bed wondering if it was worth all the aching that he felt with every slight movement. He kept replaying it in his head, how he completely lost the fight."And she held back till the end" he said out loud with a short breath."a true monster" he added"I really do pity her next opponent" Kaen said out loud and immediately began to hear a muffled laughter from beside him. He looked and saw Orie lying on the bed beside him and for a brief moment, the two men stared at each other in awkward silence until Kaen got the joke and burst into his own stream of laughter. Their laughter filled the room and they continued even though their bodies were aching severely."WHY DO YOU REJECT ME? " a voice said to Natsumi.
Burn out
As soon as Ellie noticed there was something wrong with Orie, she signaled her crew to turn off their cameras. He had been mumbling for a while but soon the mumbling intensified. His eyes were heavy, his voice was inaudible, he could feel his consciousness fading but he kept on praying. He had thought that he had enough strength to keep up the prayer but his condition was worse than he had thought it was."I'm sorry" he said as he fell to his knees and went silent. As the paramedics were rushing to take Orie away the thing that he was trying to keep under control broke free and took over Natsumi.Kaen tried to call back his flames but they were sniffed out as soon as they came in. The mist was thick, it was cold and he could barely see what was in front of him. Icicles were coming at him from different angles and he could hardly evade any of them.He saw himself at a dead end. He could not see anything he could do that would cause him to win the match. He was tired, bleeding, aching a

"Who should I fear more?" Kaen wondered"Is it the monster that makes me shudder""Or is it the vessel that contains it?"As Kaen prepared to engage his opponent, all that he could think of was the fear that he felt. He could not forget it.Not many remember it but there was once a great incident that took place in Fubuki island. It was an incident that almost claimed the lives of all who lived on the island.A great frost, so cold that no flame could resist, quickly spreading and freezing everything in its path. In the dark winter night when many slept, this frost came along to take their breath.Somehow, everyone woke up in their beds the next morning with no recollection of the past twelve hours. This event sparked many rumors and among them was the rumour that the residents died and were brought back, proponents of this rumor backed their claims by speculating a tragic event within the twelve hours period. That night came to be known as the night where men slept. He looked around in confusion, trying to figure out where he was. The last thing he could remember was that he was surrounded by dust in the arena. He looked at the nurse who seemed surprised for a reason and asked "how long have I been here?""F... Four days" the nurse answered nervously and Orie remain silent"We thought you were dead" she added"Who won?" Orie asked"What?" The nurse replied, still shaken up"My fight" Orie rephrased"Who won?""Well..." The nurse replied"The other guy was disqualified so...""... I guess you won""Oh" Orie said as he tried to get off from the bed but the but the nurse immediately moved to stop him."You just woke up sir" she said"We can't let you walk around till we know for sure that you're okay""I'm okay" Orie replied as he got down from the bed but

Of the expectations that the people had, no one expected that a majority of the spectators would be okay with the outcome of the fight. They were sure that what they saw was real, they were sure that what they saw was fair, they were sure that the contestants gave it their all and they were sure that the winner deserved his victory.Even those who didn't support him in the beginning were cheering for him with all their heart, even those who lost their bets because of him rejoiced at the sight. There were many good fighters in the tournament, many who at the wave of their hands would cause marvelous sights but of all the fights in the tournament, Orie had shown them most invigorating. The cheers went on for a while until people in the crowd began to notice that the referee was yet to formally declare a winner. Soon they noticed that orie had not made a single movement since the clearing of the dust, he was still standing but he could not move.Though one person was on the floor while t
