"I was wondering why you didn't come to see me all this time" Orie said to Natsumi but got no reply.
"You're usually the first to talk, you know" "Now you have me in an awkward position" "I already know what you want so I'm not going to ask" "But you have to tell me one thing" "HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT IT?" Edwin Law, official and only referee of the tournament. He had been officiating for the past two years but his name became well known after he declared Orie winner over Chris. He was rumored to be one of those who had "god eyes" but that match confirmed to the public that it was true. Eyes that see through deception, eyes that see what is true, eyes that nothing can escape, The eyes of the law. With his eyes he was able to see and perfectly replay past events in order to make sound judgement. Edwin's eyes allowed him to analyze all the previous matches he had officiated but even after replaying them over and over yet, he had no confidence in any possible outcome of the day's match. "Come on, Ed" he said in a tone that carried great anticipation. "It's showtime" The fight started as soon as Ed sounded the buzzer. By the time it was done sounding, the entire stadium had instantly gone cold. The audience looked down and saw Orie frozen in his stance and Natsumi shooting an icicle at him. There is this slight moment before disaster where you see what could happen before it actually does. The assumptions are correct most of the time but the results hit you differently. In that one instant, you both know and don't know what actually happened. It creates an uncertainty that can only be cleared along with the mist. The impact was loud and released a great amount of vapour into air. People in the audience were waiting to see if what they thought happened actually happened or if Orie being Orie, brought about another outcome. The answer was revealed by the clearing of the mist and Orie was being Orie. As unlikely as it was, Orie coming out alive from such an attack was not exactly a thing of surprise. His previous matches had left an impression on the spectators that he was not easy to take down. No one could tell how he would survive but all they knew was that it would not be a shock to them if he did. Skillfully swirling his staff, Orie braced himself for the next volley of attacks that were coming. Natsumi on the other hand, charged her icicles to shoot at him. The icicles spun and shot at incredible speeds; so fast that they could barely be followed by normal eyes. As fast as the icicles shot, Orie was adept at hitting them off their course and none of them were able to hit him. He would hit them away and move closer to his opponent, some waves were able to halt his advance while others were easily hit aside. There was one thing about the ongoing match that the crowd could completely agree on and it was the fact that Natsumi was intent on ending it as quickly as possible. Each shot was faster than the last and came with more force and just by sight and sound alone, they could tell that the impact of every one of them was heavy. Despite the weight of Natsumi's strikes, Orie kept his calm and held firmly to his staff. It was a heavy staff made of pure wood but it had the durability of iron. Written on the staff was some sort of code and beside the code was an inscription, the code read "JUDG3V31" and the inscription beside it read "shamgar" Orie was confident in his weapon mastery but even he was surprised by how calmly he handled the incoming attacks. He could not rationalize how he himself was able to neutralize so many incoming shots without skipping a beat. It was as if the staff was guiding his movements. "What did this girl give me?" He wondered as he suddenly vanished from his opponent's field of vision. Before Natsumi could comprehend such a movement, Orie was already beside her, ready to strike. She managed to block his staff but he immediately disappeared again. Orie began launching high speed attacks from all angles and Natsumi was forced to go on the defensive. "Ellie Porter here" "Today we have a special guest" "We didn't exactly invite him but we are glad for the chance we have to interview him" "So ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to..." "...Victor Murasaki" she said as the camera turned to face Victor. "I don't know how many of you that actually know him but this guy is the son of the school principal, and also a promising participant in upcoming students' tournament" "He is known to be the academic number one of the SHIN SEKAI academy with nearly perfect scores in everything" "Today, he is here to be our analyst and to help us further under the ongoing match" "So Victor" Ellie said looking at him "What can you tell us about this ongoing match?" She asked "ORIE WILL WIN" Victor answered with a straight face. He didn't wait for a reply before continued to speak. "If you look well you would see it" "Ms. Fubuki started with full force and has been constantly throwing one powerful attack after the other and freezing the entire arena to make it her playing field" "Mr. Addison on the other hand, has not even used an ounce of his magic. Everything he has done so far has been purely physical" "But how is he keeping himself from freezing?" Ellie asked "Not even the barriers could stop the cold from reaching the audience" she added. Victor replied Ellie's question with another question. "What do you think happens when someone moves that fast with just his muscle power?" "Such person is meant to overheat" "But Orie is in a place that is so cold he doesn't have worry about that" "In other words, he is only able to do this because of his opponent" "But that's not all" "The way he swings his staff also has something to do with it" "The air around him is flowing differently from others" "Wow" Ellie exclaimed with joy after hearing Victor's analysis. "One more question" she added "What can you tell us about Orie's power?" She asked "He does so many things so we can't tell what exactly his abilities are" Victor kept silent for a while before answering "Officially, it is said to be unspecified" "But that can't be true as no one can escape the law of the name" "It's not a common law but it implies that the power of a person must have a single name that it adheres to" " If there is any name that Orie's power adheres to" "It would be..." "...MARKET" SHIN SEKAI SECRET: The only people from Natsumi's family that watched her matches were her sister, Naomi who watched it through an online broadcast and her brother, Souma who cheered for her all the way.Latest Chapter
When the ice queen laughs
"well, Mr Addison" Ellie said as the camera faced Orie. "What are your thoughts on the current state of the match?" "I'm really not sure" Orie replied "To be honest, this is the first time I've seen Her like that so I don't actually know what to expect" "But if I had to take a guess..." "... I'd say I'm glad she wasn't like this in our match" Natsumi missed her first strike, and her second, and her third, and her fourth, and... all her strikes, she missed all of it. As it turns out, Kurobe had quite the reflex and was really good at evasion and keeping the distance. Every time Natsumi got close, he quickly evaded and put distance between them, pushing her back, attacking from blind spots, setting walls between them and a Whole lot of moves that prevented him from getting hit but that didn't stop his opponent from trying. With each passing second, Natsumi got closer to landing a hit on Kurobe. At first it was him feeling the little breeze as her fist fle
Cold hard truth
Many things can anger a fighter. An opponent that toys with them, someone that just won't stay down and in many cases, a direct insult. But none of those things were happening to Kurobe, he was facing something far more annoying; an opponent that isn't paying attention to him. At first glance, it looked like Kurobe was dominating the match without giving his opponent any chance to counter, but there were many times since the beginning of the fight where Natsumi would have been able to strike back but did nothing instead. She had barely moved from where she was standing at the start and she was in deep thought. All Natsumi did from the beginning of the match was to fend off the incoming attacks while thinking about what Orie had said to her. "I have finally seen your true self" "I finally know you" She couldn't muster up the courage to ask him what he meant because she was too afraid of his answer. She was afraid of the truth. "If the real me is a monster...
The veil of confidence
"Ellie porter here" "I'm in the stadium with our favorite finalist and we're here to watch the tussle for third place" "The crowd density in the stadium today would make you wonder how it would be in the final" "The place is packed!" "The first fighter we see coming on the arena is a favorite of many" "A one time champion who claimed his only title by beating all the heavyweights in the early matches and since then he has never not made it to the semifinals" "He is a force to be reckoned with" "Anyone that saw his previous fights would know that he is an opponent that even the champions do not take lightly" "I introduce to you" "Someone most of you already know" "The head of the department of geography" "The man who almost won against Fuji Waramaki" "ISHIGAMI KUROBE" "The second person coming up to the arena" "We love her for her beauty, we love her for her strength and we love her because she loves the one we want to win"
Tears of a beautiful summer
Orie was finally on the offensive. His wind blasts weren't doing much damage but they were strong enough to throw his opponent off balance and disorganize her attacks. He was able to close the distance bit by bit with each successful blast and every one of them hit. Before Natsumi could tell what was going on, Orie was standing directly under her. "White" orie said with a smile as he looked at her from below, then he spun his staff and struck the floor with it. Natsumi immediately turned to guard against it but no wind came from Orie's direction, it came from above and pushed her down. As Natsumi struggled to stand up, Orie began walking towards her and spoke. "I wondered why my prayers weren't working on you" "It would stop you for a brief moment then she'd take care of the rest by will power" "After this encounter, I think I finally figured it out" "The reason why my prayers don't work and who you are" "You are Natsumi" "You are not a spirit tha
