To quickly reach the village of Lunan, Fang Yun used the Quiet Wind technique he had already mastered. He deliberately avoided going back to Lufeng, not wanting to reopen old wounds that might weaken his resolve.

His speed resembled that of a seasoned martial artist. Anyone watching him would find it hard to believe that this young man had only trained for two years.

Before long, the bustling village of Lunan came into view. Fang Yun slowed his pace and walked like an ordinary traveler. A cloth bundle and the Sea of Fire Sword hung over his shoulder—a clear sign he was a wanderer.

As he entered the lively village, familiar with every corner of it, Fang Yun had no trouble finding a food stall. He had longed for corn rice with chili paste and crispy fried river fish—simple meals that never failed to please his tongue.

"Uncle, I’d like some corn rice and water," Fang Yun said to the stall owner.

The man nodded. “Have a seat first!”

Fang Yun sat beside a table where four local villagers were already eating. He quietly perked up his ears, eavesdropping on their conversation.

“I heard the Black Panther Bandits struck again yesterday in the village of Cuiheng. Nearly all the men were slaughtered, and the women… violated,” said a muscular, dark-skinned man.

“Just like what happened in Lufeng years ago. The same culprits—those damned Black Panther Bandits,” replied another.

Fang Yun’s heart jumped. His expression changed—half shock, half satisfaction. He continued listening intently for more information.

“Shh… Don’t talk about those bandits. If someone hears, they might come for our village next,” warned the third man nervously.

“What are you afraid of? Most of the people in this village are warriors. Besides, we have Chong Li, one of the best fighters from the Black Hawk Sect.”

Fang Yun smiled faintly upon hearing Chong Li’s name. Surprisingly, he no longer held any hatred toward the man who used to bully him. Perhaps time had softened the anger in his heart.

“Excuse me, Uncle. Do you know where the Black Panther Bandits’ hideout is?” Fang Yun suddenly asked.

All four men turned to look at him, startled by his unexpected question.

“Why would a young man like you ask about a ruthless bandit group’s hideout?” asked the muscular man, eyeing him with suspicion.

“I don’t want to find them, Uncle. I’m a wanderer, so if I know where their territory is, I’ll avoid going near it,” Fang Yun answered calmly.

“Good to hear. Rumor has it their hideout is in the Forbidden Forest. Do you know where that is?”

Fang Yun shook his head. “I don’t, Uncle.”

“If you head straight north from here, pass four villages, and reach a crossroads—don’t turn left. That road leads directly into the Forbidden Forest!”

“Thank you very much, Uncle.”

“You’re welcome, young man.”

At that moment, the food stall owner placed a plate in front of Fang Yun. Without hesitation, Fang Yun devoured the corn rice—the first proper meal he had tasted after three years in the ravine.

Once he finished, he paid and left the stall, ready to head toward the Forbidden Forest in search of the Black Panther Bandits’ hideout.

As he strolled through the village streets, his eyes fell on five young men walking toward him.

“Chong Li,” he muttered.

Not wanting trouble, Fang Yun kept his head low, hoping to pass unnoticed. Unfortunately, one of Chong Li’s companions recognized him.

“Isn’t that loser Fang Yun, Tetua Muda?” the man said.

Chong Li turned and spotted Fang Yun walking in the opposite direction. “Let’s get him! I haven’t beaten him up in ages!”

The five men ran to intercept Fang Yun.

“Hahaha… Where do you think you’re going, loser? Where’ve you been these last three years?” Chong Li mocked.

“Let me go, Chong Li. I have no business with you.”

“Haha! Three years ago, you wouldn’t even look me in the eye. Now you dare speak back? You got tired of living?”

“I said, I don’t have any business with you. Let me pass.”

“So the loser’s grown a backbone, huh? What’s with the sword? Planning to play hero? Doesn’t matter. You’ll always be a loser!”

“I’m just a traveler, Chong Li. The sword is for protection. You never know what beasts lurk in the forest.”

“Haha, whatever. You’re getting a beating today no matter what. My fists are itching!” Chong Li laughed, though he noticed something different—Fang Yun’s eyes no longer showed fear.

Fang Yun, unwilling to waste time or energy, devised a quick plan. He suddenly smiled and looked past them.

“Brother! Over here!” he shouted, waving.

Chong Li and his friends turned to see who he was calling. At that instant, Fang Yun casually jogged away toward the Black Hawk Sect.

Not seeing anyone behind them, Chong Li cursed and spun around. But Fang Yun was already far ahead.

“You lizard! Sewer rat! Rotten cockroach! He tricked us! After him!”

“Yes, Tetua Muda!” the others answered.

Chong Li and his four companions dashed off using the Light Body technique, though they were only beginners at it.

At the sect’s gate, Fang Yun halted and panted dramatically in front of the guards. “Please help! Some bad people are chasing me!”

“Who’s chasing you, young man?”

Fang Yun glanced behind him and saw Chong Li’s group closing in.

“T-There! That’s them!” he pointed.

Without waiting for permission, Fang Yun ran straight into the sect, crashing through the wooden gates.

“Crazy kid… Was he so scared he just ran through the gate?” one of the guards muttered, around 35 years old.

Moments later, Chong Li and his gang arrived.

“You were the one chasing that boy, Tetua Muda?”

“Yes! Where’s that loser?”

“He went inside, Tetua Muda. He even smashed our gate in his panic.”

Chong Li puffed up with pride, mistaking fear for his dominance.

Inside the sect, Fang Yun kept running in circles, screaming:

“Help! Help! I’m being attacked!”

Naturally, such a scene drew attention. Dozens of disciples came out of their dorms, puzzled by the wild boy screaming like a madman.

Several elders also emerged, trying to calm him down.

“Stop right there, you fool! You’ve disturbed the entire sect!” Chong Li shouted furiously.

Fang Yun paused briefly, looked at him, then resumed running in circles while pointing at Chong Li.

“There he is! That’s the bad guy! That’s him!”

“Why are you acting like this? You could defeat them easily,” Qiang Mo asked in Fang Yun’s mind, confused by his strange antics.

“Shut up, Arnold…!” Fang Yun snapped internally.

“My name is Qiang Mo! Not Arnold!” the fire spirit barked.

“Shut it and just watch! You sound like a nagging aunt who didn’t get her shopping money!” Fang Yun finally stopped running, panting and gasping like it was Monday and Thursday all at once.

To them, Zhen Ni’s body was worth a hundred years of training. That was why they would do anything to get her—even if it meant killing fellow black sect warriors. Fang Yun perked up his ears and listened to Feng Chen’s story attentively. “I’ll take you and Zhen Ni to Mount Tianmen. But... where exactly is Mount Tianmen, Grandpa?” Fang Yun asked with a small laugh. “Mount Tianmen lies far to the east, Fang Yun. From here, it would take at least three full moons if we travel on foot.” Fang Yun frowned in surprise at how long the journey would take. “Where were you actually going, though? Earlier I saw a heavy mission reflected in your eyes,” Feng Chen asked. Fang Yun had no intention of revealing what he was after. But then he figured there was no harm in sharing it with the old man—he might even get some clue on where to find the other three r

His demeanor puzzled everyone involved in the fight. They were surprised that this young man showed no fear whatsoever, instead walking calmly past them as if nothing unusual was happening. Fang Yun’s eyes shifted to the old man and the little girl he had met earlier at the tavern. “Grandfather? Why are you here? And who are those people fighting?” Feng Chen looked at Fang Yun with a mix of surprise and admiration. Despite the intensity of the battle happening right next to them, there wasn’t even a trace of fear in the young man’s eyes. As Feng Chen remained silent, Fang Yun pressed on, “Earlier, you said you were taking Zhen Ni to her parents. So why are you still here? Ah… I get it. Do you need someone
