Chapter: *The* *Maze*

Parker rubbed his chin thoughtfully and immediately shot through the gigantic forcefield, causing a slight ripple to spread from his point of entry outwards in a concentric circle.

The moment, he entered, his vision swarmed and he appeared at a field comparable to the size of a football field.

The horizon was dark red and blinding brownish rays in the distance emanated from a large red sun, setting at the point, the skies meet the lands.

Parker raised his head and stood in shock.

A gigantic star system hung above him, it looked like the picturesque view of the universe was painted in the skies.

It seemed as if the skies was split in half, the large red sun occupied a region and this starry universe-like painting occupied the other.

Rings of dazzling starlight studded the outermost layers of the star system, it was in constant motion.

Within the stars were neutron stars, dwarf stars and even an occasional gleam of a terrifying black vortexes devouring a nearby star could be seen.

It was really like the universe was painted all over again here, the twinkling starlights had a bizzare quality.

The moment, Parker saw them, his heart and mind grew at ease and tranquil, infact, he forgot he was on a mission.

The rays of the stars grew in intensity, shooting numerous light to envelope Parker.

.......

Outside the formation.

The dark silhouette slipped out of the crack of the shadows hidden in space after Roy and Sharon had disappeared into the formation in piercing lights and smirked.

"This Greenwood isn't so bad but he underestimated this formation, it was just that, it isn't a one layered maze illusion but a two layered illusionary spell formation. The first is the starry dreams capable of putting most silver ranker in a dream after looking at it and the last one is the maze. Let me see how they're doing" The dark figure spoke out thoughtfully to itself.

The figure balled his right hand into a fist and produced a compass-looking equipment from a spatial ring in it's middle finger.

Four dazzling red dots appeared on the surface of the compass-looking equipment, the dark figure chuckled and suddenly, one of the red dot trembled and moved forward, breaking through the first layer into the second one.

The dark figure didn't have any change in expression, it looked like it was expecting it.

"Good, good. This Greenwood is as smart as ever but unfortunately, he's walking into my trap. No one plots against the president and comes back alive" A murderous intent erupted from it's body, it's eyes shone with a strange light.

....

Parker's entire consciousness was submerged into the dazzling rays of the stars, sinking him into a dream but his resolute will kept on clashing with this dream rays.

Suddenly, a vortex of energy abruptly tore out of his body, causing space to ripple and the starlight rays to twist and turn.

The energy vortex swirled and an eye appeared in the middle, the cold gaze of the eye caused the illusionary domain to shudder and tremble as if in fear.

# RIIPPPPPPPP.

The sound of something akin to a clothe being torn apart sounded out, the star-studded skies with a universe painted view was cut through, the entire scenery crumbling like bricks.

Immediately, the scene changed and revealed a pathway, the side edges of this pathway was covered in towering walls, metallic lustre shone out from it.

Parker breathed a sigh of relief and tucked some strands of hair behind his ears.

"So it turns out, after entering the forcefield, there was a starry-like illusion and this must finally be the maze. So in other words, the illusionary formations are two-layered, did Greenwood know about this and intentionally hid the information from us? But why? It doesn't make sense, it's more likely, even Greenwood himself didn't know about the first illusionary layer, so things didn't go as planned. I was lucky enough to break through that illusion" Parker sighed and analyzed his situation, he subconsciously touched the necklace hanging loosely on his neck.

It would seem, the necklace had saved him in that dire situation, if not, it would have taken a lot more time to breakout himself.

Parker touched the smooth surface of the walls confining him and rubbed his beardless chin.

"It seems, I'm in the maze and I have to get to the centre, brute force might not necessary work but since I'm not proficient in illusions like Greenwood, I can only try this method and look for gaps" Parker spoke to himself and nodded.

After going through with such thought, Parker didn't bother hesitating and clenched his fist, several streams of light converged on his fist and he thrust through space, striking one of the walls.

The metallic wall shuddered but there wasn't the expected boom or even cracks, it held through as if nothing had happened.

"I see. It's even this powerful. Anyone below the silver rank would have issues breaking through but not me" Parker snorted coldly.

"Starry spell: Falling Meteorite!" Parker chanted and pushed his hand to the skies.

Suddenly, the metallic walls and pathway started shuddering as if it was about to collapse, a fiery streak shot across the air, it's body bloating out the skies and casting a huge shadow, trails of flames was it's tail.

The gigantic meteoric rock blazed through the pathway and struck the walls, causing it to collapse instantly, there was no obstruction, it tore through it as if it was paper.

Another pathway came into view with the same metallic walls but this time, one part had collapse, thanks to the meteorite and it didn't stop, it soared and broke through several walls and pathways with reckless abandon.

The meteorite kept tearing through the maze, the destroyed walls were slowly repairing itself but Parker wouldn't let this chance slip by.

Parker's figure was wrapped in starry light and he turned into a streak of light, following the trails of the meteorite, surveying the surroundings.

Suddenly, a few glitches and holes appeared across the surroundings, leaking a trance of the real environment, Parker shot into one of the holes and appeared within a part of the maze, he was still within the confines of the metallic way and pathway but this time, he was smiling.

"I'm drawing closer to the centre!" Parker smirked and raised a finger.

Streams of energy gathered in form of motes of lights, coalescing atop the finger, exuding a destructive energy and might, the motes of energy light gathered into a ball of red tiny light hanging above the finger.

Parker flicked the finger and the ball of light shot out and tore through walls, it didn't slow down like it's counterpart but this time, it didn't go far, a gigantic club squashed it out of existence.

Parker that was observing his surroundings, following the ball of light was surprised.

A towering and dwarfing figure with body akin to the size of a mountain came into his view and it held a gigantic club almost twice it's own weight, powerful and thick killing intent surrounded it's body and those with weak mind would have collapsed, just looking at it.

The most terrifying thing about it was the undulations, it was radiating, it was no less weaker than a top-tier silver ranker and unfortunately, the figure had set it's blazing green eyes on Parker.

It's expression looked completely twisted with rage and a faint trace of contempt.

Parker's eyes grew wide like saucers by this discovery.

"But this maze formation shouldn't have monsters of this level. Shit, well, this is truly the last defense of the president afterall, he's stacking his life on this mindless puppet to defend him but unfortunately, this isn't enough to save his life" Parker coldly looked at the towering figure and had a slight premonition that if he could kill this figure, the maze would collapse.

It was as if this monster was the node holding the maze in place, well atleast for his side.

Parker didn't wait for the creature to attack him before he attacked, a starry-like domain filled with stars erupted out from his body and enveloping the creature.

The creature howled in rage and a regal and brute aura shot out from it, it clashed with the domain, this creature was simply fighting based of on instincts and hadn't comprehended any spell or technique.

Although, it was still restrained within the domain but this doesn't seem to be the case since it could still move freely and unimpeded.

"As expected from a silver ranked creature" Parker's eyes gleamed with intelligence, he wasn't so shocked.

Parker's figure quickly curled up in a seal.

Profound light spilled out from his body and numerous writhing tadpole-like runes appeared in the air, it carried a strange aura.

The patterns in the runes had a constellation origin and formed something like a galaxy revolving in the center of it.

"Astral seal!" Parker yelled.

This seal technique was something, he fought blood, sweat and tears to obtain from the cold hands of an enemy in his clan or rather family.

It was said to even seal the bloodlines of the gods but obviously, this was just lies but it doesn't necessarily mean, the seal isn't powerful and now, it was showing off it's might.

The runes arranged themselves in the air in form of a seal, carrying a mysterious aura as if the stars were intending to seal off something vile and evil.

"Go!" Parker flicked the seal and it trembled before shooting towards the creature.

The creature's primal instinct could already tell him, this seal was very dangerous and without the slightest bit of hesitation, the creature hefted the club and struck down at the seal, it poured streams of energy into the club, causing it to radiating a blinding light and as if an armageddon was about to happen.

# BOOOOMMMM!!

There was surprisingly, no intending crumbling or breaking sound, just a sound akin to a bomb exploding sounded out.

The creature's figure surfaced but it wasn't moving, strangely, it held the club and stared at Parker with a cold gaze.

Numerous writhing runic lines appeared on it's skin and even the club, the undulations in comparison to a silver ranker was slowly dying out, the creature successfully dropped down a rank in less than a minute.

Parker smiled and traced his finger in an arc in the air and slashed down with it.

Just this simple motion caused the air to howl in frenzy and energy particles to form a slash that cut through space and arrived before the creature.

By simply passing through his domain, the power of the slash was continually amplified, this is one terrifying ability of a silver ranker.

The domain can sufficiently increase the attack of the user and this is one of the reasons, those below silver rank was like mere ants before them.

The creature howled and tried moving but the writhing runes on it's body radiated a blinding light, further sealing most of it's cultivation base.

The slash passed through it's neck and the green light spilling from it's eyes dulled, a spray of blood dyed the air in it's splendor, the creature's head slid off it's body then it's body toppled down.

Parker swiped off a drop of sweat from his brows.

This fiery world was only concentrated in fire elements, causing other elementals to be greatly weakened and using an attack in this surroundings with a different element would expend far more energy than on average.

This is why Parker wanted to end the battle as quickly as possible, if his opponent had this dimension's elemental advantage to it's side, things would have been more difficult.

The moment, the creature died, it seemed as if the maze had lost it's source of power, all metallic walls and pathways crumbled to reveal a pitch-black void.

A throne stood in space, it was exuded a white lustre, looked as if it was made of bones. A figure sat on it with a crown on it's head.

Parker sucked in a cold breath, the energy undulations coming out of the figure seated on the throne exceeded anything he had felt before.

'T-t-the President himself!' Parker screamed in his mind.

All his instinct and premonition was screaming danger and impending doom.

Parker swept across the surroundings and saw Greenwood floating in the void, just like him, however, he didn't attack, it was like he was also waiting for someone.

Greenwood also caught sight of him and flew to his direction.

"Parker, Thank God , you're here. I have been waiting for you lots, seems you're more stronger than the rest" Greenwood spoke gleefully.

Parker nodded and looked at the figure at the throne.

Greenwood followed his gaze and smiled.

"Don't worry, he can't do anything. He's only making a font, there's nothing he can do at the moment, he's buying time to try as recuperate himself as fast as possible" Greenwood chuckled.
