It was a warm Monday morning in the city of Westbrook.

Cavendish Inc., a leading company in the logistics indusry, was already buzzing with work.

Inside the office, a handsome young man sat quietly at his desk staring into the distance with a perplexed look on his face.

'What the hell is going on?’ Maximilian Cage thought, his brows furrowed. ‘Where am I?’

The last thing he remembered was dying in his home.

A fire, then smoke, choking and endless pain.

The fire was no accident- it was set by the woman he loved, Mirabel Cavendish.

She and her secret lover has planned it all.

Max instinctively gripped his chest as his heart pounded and sweat soaked his shirt.

The memory of the flames, the choking smoke and Mirabel's cold eyes made him tremble, not with fear, but rage and hatred.

"Yo, Max, you good?" A colleague asked.

Max forced a smile. "Yeah, just a bit dizzy."

But insidez his mind was racing.

He had to figure out what was going on and fast, after all, if he was truly dead, then there was no way this was the afterlife.

Then, his eyes fell on the date on the screen.

June 2nd, 3026.

It was exactly three years before his death.

He froze.

Did that mean he went back in time?

But how?

Suddenly, he felt something cold on his chest, causing him to unbutton his shirt and then, he saw it.

If was an old green pendant shaped like a dragon.

It was his family heirloom.

His grandfather gave it to him before he passed.

Right before he passed out, it had glowed faintly.

Could it be the reason he came back?

Well, it didn't matter now.

What mattered was he had a second chance to rewrite everything and make those who ruined him pay.

“Mirabel.” He breathed out coldly, his gaze revealing the flames of vengeance burning in his heart.

However, he couldn't just confront her, not yet, at least.

First of all, he needed to prevent the very event that caused everything to fall apart.

He stared at the screen again and confirmed the date and time.

Just as he suspected.

By noon, he'd be accused of fraud and embezzlement.

Then, he'd be fired, arrested and jailed for twenty-five years.

He only got out two years later on good behavior.

But by then, everything had gone wrong.

His sister was dead, same with his stepmother and his father had turned into a drunken deadbeat.

And that all started today!

Max clenched his fists.

Not this time.

Since fate had decided to give him a chance to make things right, then he would be sure to grab the opportunity with both hands.

With that in mind, he immediately went to work.

It was 10:30AM.

And if he remembered correctly, it started around 12.

So he had exactly ninety minutes to make preparations for the inevitable accusations headed his way.

He moved quickly.

Did research, backed up documents, made some calls and sent out a few messages.

Soon, there was only a minute left.

But by then, he was already done with his preparations.

Now, all that remained was to wait and he didn't have to wait for long.

Right on cue, a convoy of luxury cars made an appearance at the entrance of the company building.

Out stepped muscular guards in suits who then opened the limousine doors.

And there she was, Mirabel Cavendish.

She looked stunning in her official gown, her face flawless, her figure enough to turn heads.

She had always been a goddess in the eyes of others.

A beauty capable of forcing men to their knees.

And once upon a time, Max had thought so too.

But now?

A mocking smile.curved at the corner of his lips.

He now saw her for what she truly was, a snake hiding behind beauty.

Despite everything he'd done for her, she betrayed him.

He was the reason Cavendish Inc. was a top brand in the logistics industry.

If not for his strategies and unique business acumen, Cavendish Inc. was destined for the gutters.

And what did he get in return?

The Cavendish family didn't appreciate his efforts.

They even blamed him for preventing Mirabel from ending up with a rich scion from a powerful family.

Even Mirabel, whom he thought loved him, did not hesitate to kick him to the curb the moment she thought he was finished.

But this time, he wasn't the same fool.

Now, he had a clean slate and he was prepared to use it well.

Just then, another man stepped out of the limo just after Mirabel.

Wearing a sharp suit, flashing a luxury watch and carrying that smug attitude, he looked every hut like someone born with a silver spoon.

That was Bernard Darrow, heir to the Darrow family and vice president of Darrow Corp.

He was also Mirabel's secret lover.

And the one who helped frame Max.

Max's jaw tightened as he watched the two flirt openly.

Bernard even wrapped an arm around Mirabel's waist like he owned her.

Employees walked up to greet the two with smiles and flattery.

"Hey Max." A voice behind Max said.

It was Darwin, a colleague.

"Aren't you going to say hi to your wife?"

"My wife?" Max let out a cold sneer. "She's not worthy."

Fine then, I would like to see how this goes.”“I will not let you have your way, Mr. Augustus!... I will ruin you and Rosario!” Carlos warned but Max chuckled in response.“Please, go ahead. I'd love to see you try.”Carlos clenched his jaw, clearly not expecting Max to act so boldly. He'd always been accorded respect as he was not only a stockbroker but a prominent Mafia boss, yet for a young man who hadn't even grown a beard to act so casually before him.It was utter disrespect! He trembled in dissatisfaction as he turned to leave, with Arturo rising to his feet to do the same, only for Max to call out to him. “I hope you have robust savings,” Max remarke

There, they found Arturo and his father, Carlos, waiting on Max with bated breath.“Well, well, if it isn't the biggest stockbroker in Westbrook.” Max mocked as the Sanchez father and son duo rose to receive him.“How may I help you today?” As he spoke, he took his seat at the head of the table with Brittany coming to stand beside him.Clearing his throat, Carlos spoke up. “Mr. Augustus, firstly, I would like to congratulate you on becoming Rosario's CEO, it is truly a great position.”“Indeed, it is. I have big shoes to fill if I want to live up to my parents' legacy.”“I agree.” Carlos nodded. “Secondly, I would like to sincerely apologize for Artur

Caleb coughed awkwardly as his fellow executives backed away from him slowly, having realized that this wasn't an inspection or a meeting. It was a witch hunt! These men had always thought themselves untouchable yet in the face of a fierce CEO, they realized that they had no real power and everything they owned hinged on the whims of Max Augustus.“Sir, you have to believe me. It's not like I haven't tried my best, it's just that the recession really hit the hotel hard. But if you don't believe me, I'd be more than happy to tender my resignation. I'll tender my resignation tomorrow.”“Unless, you think me a fool, you wouldn't say such rubbish.”“Sir?”Just then, Max's guards rushed into the restaurant and surrounded the group with one approaching wit
