Shall We Begin

Everybody was shocked to see Henry. He actually came to the battleground. They thought he was pretending to be sick so he wouldn't have to fight Derek.

Who in their right sense would fight a B class mage? Even a C ranker wouldn't do it, let alone an E ranker.

What a fool.

Henry entered the arena. He faced the side where Mr. Dawson was sitting.

“You're not getting your filthy hands on that land.”

Mr. Dawson smiled as he saw Henry. He thought he wouldn't get to entertain his guest today. Thank goodness, the worthless boy showed up. He had already asked Derek to make him nearly embrace death. Then his father would come begging for hospital bills again. With that, they would work for him freely.

He laughed in his mind. Poor people should know their place. They could never reach the top.

“You should be worried about your match. Do you really think an E rank mage can win against a B rank? What a fool!”

Mr. Tucker snatched the microphone from Mr. Dawson. He was happy Henry was alive. His son had slept for four days, and he was worried Henry would never wake up. He had no money to take him to the hospital.

He had been sacked from his work for defying the laws. There was no way out for the family anymore. If only Henry could miraculously win.

“Henry. I am proud of you.”

Henry faced Mr. Dawson.

“Watch me win.”

He faced Derek and tightened his fist. Lora had explained everything to him. He must win this battle, or his family was doomed to slavery.

“Shall we begin?”

Derek's cheeks moved. He thought Henry was scared to come. All of this would have been for nothing.

His old man wanted him to end this match quickly, but he wanted to enjoy himself.

Henry couldn't touch him anyway. He was wearing a ring that increased his level by three. He was currently at level 5.

He was also wearing a necklace that gave him some basic physical skills. Henry wouldn't even see him coming.

“Why are you just standing there? Attack me now, or are you scared of dying?”

Everybody burst out laughing. What a stupid boy.

Henry stared at Derek's magical items. He was loaded. He was even wearing a suit that increased his stamina and other physical attributes.

It seemed impossible now, but Henry was tired of this bastard running his mouth. He had to deal with him.

“Let's see who will beg for mercy.”

Henry dashed toward Derek. He moved his right hand and unleashed his attack.

“Skill one!”

The cube-shaped flame was five times bigger than before. Even Derek's eyebrows moved when he saw Henry's explosive skill.

“Explosion!”

Henry flung the attack toward Derek.

Derek didn't bother to evade the attack. He kept moving toward Henry. When the impact was about to reach him, Derek slapped the ball-sized flame away.

It landed on the wall and left some cracks.

Everybody started clapping when they saw Derek's strength. Henry was surprised his attack had no effect. He underestimated the suit Derek was wearing. It gave Derek some kind of super strength.

Derek saw the look on Henry's face. His lips curved, and he muttered.

“Mega skill; Flame Armor!”

His body became enveloped with fiery flames. With this new armor, Henry's attacks wouldn't work on him. He was surprised Henry's explosion skill was that powerful. Nobody noticed it, but it actually pushed him backward.

“Just give up already. Your fire can't harm me anymore.”

Henry didn't listen to him. He sent more explosion skills, but the impact was swallowed by the flames.

Derek smiled as he saw Henry's puzzled face. It was time he finished the bastard.

“Mega skill; Blazing Aura!”

Henry fell to his knees immediately. The air around him became intense. He couldn't believe Derek had unlocked two mega skills and could use them simultaneously.

It was all because of that suit. The strength it provided was undeniably great. It would take a level 5 mage to unlock a mega skill, but not everybody could handle it because of the energy and strength it drained from the mage.

However, Derek was doing it with ease. It was one of the benefits of being wealthy.

Derek's firepower increased, then he marched forward.

“Flash Step!”

With three steps, he was right in front of Henry.

Henry quickly activated his second skill.

“Flame Shield!”

A round flame shield formed in his hand quickly. Everybody was surprised Henry had another skill, but it was useless.

“Fireball!”

Derek smashed the attack toward Henry. Henry blocked the attack, but the force staggered him backward.

He was a C rank now. The attack shouldn't have been this strong, but Derek was surrounded by flames, which doubled his power.

Derek thought his fireball would bring Henry to the ground, but the kid was stubborn.

With the intense aura, Henry should have been lying on the floor. It was a miracle he was still able to stand and block his attack.

“Stay down, moron.”

“Dash!”

Derek's pace increased. He reached Henry's location immediately.

“Fireball!”

Just as he was about to make impact, Henry unleashed his third skill.

“Fire Chains!”

More than four fire chains surged from Henry and bound Derek with force.

He tried to move, but the chains only tightened.

Henry's cheeks moved. He carefully selected the skills to unlock. If he had known he wouldn't be able to use physical skills, he would have unlocked one mega skill instead.

“Fire Burst!”

Henry launched an upgraded version of the fireball.

The impact blasted Derek away. He rolled on the floor before finally regaining his balance.

He couldn't believe Henry's attack was this powerful. Henry was an E rank, so his skills should have been weaker than this. How could his skills have almost the same impact as his?

Before Derek could think about getting to his feet, Henry burst toward him and launched the Fire Burst again. However, Derek was prepared.

“Speed Dodge!”

He dodged the attack by appearing in another location before Henry could comprehend the process.

Derek moved again.

“Swift Counter!”

Derek appeared behind Henry. Henry tried to move, but Derek was too fast.

“Fireball!”

He smashed the flame ball into Henry's back.

The attack flung Henry into the wall. His back smashed against it and left crack marks behind.

“Henry!”

Lora covered her mouth. She was surprised that Henry was keeping up, even though he lacked the tools and magical items.

She wanted her brother to win, but it shouldn't come at such a price.

Henry coughed blood. He stood up and cleaned his lips. His back hurt, but the burning desire to win made him ignore the pain.

Derek slowly walked toward Henry.

Henry had unlocked three skills. He couldn't comprehend it, but he had three mega skills.

There was no way Henry could turn the tables. This was the end.

Derek stopped the Blazing Aura. It didn't work as expected.

“Time to end this.”

“Zoom!”

Derek blasted toward Henry. Henry quickly sent a Fire Burst attack at him. It should have stopped his pace, but Derek easily evaded the attack with Speed Dodge, and his movement didn't slow down.

Henry's fist tightened. He had to do something quickly.

“Fire Chains!”

He launched the attack when Derek reached the skill zone, but Derek once again dodged it with Swift Counter.

He predicted all of Henry's moves. At the end of the day, he was a B rank while Henry was an E rank.

He appeared behind Henry and launched his final attack.

“Mega skill; Blazing Fists!”

Derek's fist became covered with intense flames, and he smacked Henry on the back.

Henry staggered forward. He turned to face Derek, but Derek smashed him in the stomach.

The force launched Henry into the air, but Derek wasn't finished yet. He grabbed Henry in midair and slammed him into the ground.

Henry fell flat on the ground.

Derek's Flame Armor and Blazing Fists disappeared. He had reached his limits.

“Henry!”

Lora shouted, but nobody responded.

Mr. Tucker fell to his knees. What had he done? He had made the wrong choice by supporting Henry.

Henry never stood a chance against Derek. Those magical items made the difference.

Derek's voice rang out.

“I have brought the E ranker to the ground.”

Everybody cheered his name.

Mr. Tucker faced Mr. Dawson.

“Where is the mage healer? You promised a standby mage would attend to whoever loses.”

“Attend to whom? Waste my money to hire a mage? You must be joking.”

He stood up.

“Go attend to your son.”

Mr. Tucker's tears dropped. He rushed into the arena. He didn't know what to do, but he couldn't sit down and do nothing. His son was dying.
