Henry’s heart skipped when he saw the monster’s rank. The highest rank the military had ever recorded was B rank, and it had taken an entire squad of high-level mages to bring it down.

He covered his eyes immediately.

He couldn’t believe it.

Was he already hallucinating?

That dream… it felt like it was becoming real because of his fear.

He slowly opened his eyes.

Another screen appeared.

[System guide has been activated. The system will lead the way to the monster. System reward for D rank monster; 1,500 gold coins]

Henry collapsed to the ground, fear gripping his body.

Could this be real?

This was exactly how the system had appeared in his dream.

His heartbeat quickened as he remembered everything.

There was only one way to confirm it.

“Direct the host to the monster.”

[System map activated]

A map appeared before him. A red dot blinked in the distance, while his own position was marked in green.

Henry’s heart pounded harder.

But he had no time to hesitate.

He got up and followed the direction.

He had to save his father.

And with the power the system promised, maybe it was possible.

His wristwatch still showed level one, but he could feel the difference in his body.

Now he understood.

That was why Derek’s attack had no effect on him.

He had actually grown stronger.

A faint smile tried to form on his lips, but the urgency in his chest suppressed it.

As he got closer, he began to hear explosions of magic.

The air grew heavy.

Auras clashed violently around the area.

Something inside him stirred.

The location was correct.

Henry rushed into the forest without hesitation.

The fact that someone was already fighting the monster gave him hope.

His father might still be alive.

And maybe… he wouldn’t have to face the monster alone.

He burst through the trees and entered an open clearing.

His eyes widened.

For the first time, he saw a monster.

It had a humanoid shape.

His father had been right.

It had only a mouth.

No eyes. No ears.

Its skin was green.

His father had mentioned purple before.

So colors must indicate rank.

Since there was no device to measure their power.

Henry quickly scanned the area.

There was no one resting nearby.

“Dad…”

His voice trembled.

He took a step forward.

Crunch.

He froze.

He had stepped on something.

A bone.

Henry looked down.

Only then did he realize.

The entire ground was covered in bones.

He dropped to his knees.

Monsters absorbed life force.

They consumed everything.

Leaving behind only bones.

Henry’s head snapped forward.

He saw someone lying near the monster.

He rushed closer.

It was his father.

Bound by a thread-like substance.

The monster was slowly draining his life force.

Henry’s body trembled violently.

He turned toward the group of mages fighting the creature.

There were five of them.

But they weren’t trying to rescue his father.

They were keeping their distance.

Henry tried to move forward, but his legs stiffened with fear.

One wrong move and he would die instantly.

He was still an E-rank mage.

He glanced at their watches.

All C-rank.

Except one.

A woman standing at the center.

B-rank.

Level five.

She was their leader.

Hope rose in Henry’s chest.

But her next words crushed it.

“We escape once there’s an opening. There’s no way we can fight this monster.”

Henry’s body shook.

Run away?

Leave someone behind?

Before he could think, he surged forward.

He didn’t care anymore.

Even if it meant dying.

He had to save his father.

Before the bounty hunters could react, a boy rushed past them.

Selena’s eyes widened.

A kid?

What was a kid doing here?

Her gaze snapped to the monster.

It had already shifted its focus.

Toward Henry.

“Stop! Kid, come back!”

Henry didn’t listen.

Tears streamed down his face as he ran.

“Dad!”

“Damn it!”

Selena clenched her teeth.

This was their chance to escape.

But she couldn’t abandon him.

She wouldn’t be able to live with herself.

“Flash step!”

She vanished and reappeared in front of the monster.

“Fire blast!”

Her attack struck the monster’s face.

For a moment, hope flickered.

It worked.

The monster had been distracted.

But it didn’t last.

The creature grabbed her arm and flung her into the air.

Then it turned toward Henry.

“Protect the kid!”

Selena shouted before crashing to the ground.

The others hesitated.

They couldn’t win.

Running was their only chance.

But now…

“Earth wall; Double solid!”

An eight-foot wall rose between Henry and the monster.

Before it could break through, one of the mages used flash step repeatedly, grabbed Henry, and pulled him back.

“Let me go!”

Henry struggled.

“Let me go! That’s my father!”

He fought against their grip.

Then the monster screamed.

Everyone covered their ears.

The sound was piercing.

Terrifying.

[Monster has been angered]

[Monster has entered full mode; Aura pressure activated]

The moment the system finished, everyone dropped to their knees.

Except Henry.

He was already pinned to the ground.

The pressure was overwhelming.

The air itself felt heavy.

“We’re dead…”

One of the mages began to cry.

The monster had been playing with them.

Now it was serious.

This was because of that boy.

Tears streamed down his face.

They were part of the B team of Red Skull.

They had come to support the main squad.

Only to find them all reduced to bones.

The only reason they could still kneel was because of their magical equipment.

Without it, they would already be flat on the ground.

Thud.

Thud.

The monster’s footsteps echoed.

“We’re going to die!”

Selena appeared in front of them again.

Relief flashed across their faces.

She was a B-rank mage.

Level five.

She could use a mega skill.

At the very least, she could weaken the monster.

Buy them time.

“Captain!”

They shouted.

Selena clenched her fists.

She wanted to blame the boy.

But she knew the truth.

They had been wrong.

Leaving someone behind was not what mages should do.

Still… they weren’t strong enough.

She doubted even her strongest skill would be enough.

“Create barriers. Slow it down.”

The earth mage reacted instantly.

“Earth wall; Triple!”

Three thick walls rose before the monster.

They were lucky.

This monster hadn’t used speed mode yet.

Otherwise, they would already be dead.

Selena stood still.

She gathered all her energy.

She needed focus.

This was her only chance.

“Captain!”

Her teammates shouted again.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

The monster shattered all three walls instantly.

It charged straight toward her.

Selena’s heart skipped.

Henry tried to move.

He couldn’t.

Tears filled his eyes.

What would he tell his mother?

His sister?

Their world would collapse.

He forced himself to look at his father.

His body was fading.

If the monster died, the life force might return.

His father was still alive.

Henry clenched his fists.

His father had always believed in him.

Even when the world called him useless.

Even as an E-rank.

He had never lost faith.

If he couldn’t save him…

Then what was the point of anything?

Henry’s body trembled.

Rage burned within him.

But he couldn’t move.

“Damn it…”

“I am useless… born weak…”

She subconsciously stepped backwards in fear, and an evil smile crept onto Diego's face.He said as he slowly approached Lora.“There is no need to step backwards, little lamb. There is nowhere you can run to that I can't run to as well. I know you are afraid of dying, but that was your fate the moment you were born as a human being. If you were born as monster, that would've been different. You would've been strong and immune to death.Your friend over there fought a good fight, but he still ended up dying.”Diego stopped approaching and continued.“Monsters do die, so you don't think am not being obvious of the hundreds of monsters that have died on this very ground, but just as hundreds of monsters have died on this floor, over a million humans have died on this ground as well.So you can see that the numbers are not worth an argument. The monsters that fell into the hands of humans are simply the ones that couldn't work

I refuse to accept this ending’ ‘My life can't end this way!’ Helen tried to stand up to her feet once more, but she fell to the ground again. She had been beaten to a pulp by the monster, Ava, who was standing right in front of her. ‘Shit!’ Helen cursed as her body let her down once more.
