Chapter 4: Reincarnation

There is a question that is always asked when people die, do we have reincarnation? The body and soul are often viewed as two separate entities. The body ages but the soul is young. Until death knocks on the door, the soul will leave the old body and continue to go through a new cycle with a different identity.

Reincarnation is easy to enter, and difficult to get out. Areas of memory are repeated like a slow-motion tape that makes us remember and repent of the sins we have committed, only then can we be reincarnated.

Raymond stood in the middle of the dark and uncertain space, looking at his memoirs from time to time, seeing himself as a daredevil, daring to face all kinds of wild animals, full of life energy.

The bright images changed, inside the pitch-black room, there was a guy leaning against the wall, surrounded by certificates of merit, excellent thesis, photos of him smiling brightly and even the tranquilizer vial was half spilled. This was a year when he fell to the bottom at the time he lost his legs: crazy, silent, resentful, and unilaterally tried to kill himself.

Ironic fate, life expectancy is not yet up even though he jumped from above, so he once again revived himself, making the people around him secretly happy for him, but no one knew that every night he made friends with sleeping pills.

The domain of memories that flashed out was replaced by a red circle of fire, Raymond frantically looked around, wanting to find a way out but couldn't. Before he could keep calm, he hugged his neck tightly to the ground, oxygen was gradually depleted, and smoke continuously penetrated his lungs. The fire grew stronger and stronger as if it wanted to swallow him. The lack of oxygen made him gradually fall into a state of hallucination, surrounded by countless voices.

"Give it up, you can't get out of here."

Another voice said: “Stay here and play with us. We are so lonely.”

A voice sounded angrier: “Why are you reincarnated? I've been here for thousands of years and still haven't seen the light. I will swallow you whole so you won't be reborn."

After so many years, each heartache has returned, this is probably a punishment when he intentionally committed suicide many times, giving up all responsibility for his own life. Fear yes, regret yes, prayer yes but it all turned into terrible laughter that pierced his eardrums.

Raymond struggled in the middle of the circle of fire, his whole body and internal organs felt like they were burned even though every part was still intact. This torment lasted for an eternity, it seemed that many times he wanted to give up and fainted, but he still gritted his teeth and endured. He doesn't want to go back to that depressed life anymore, what he needs now is a new mission for him to regain the pride that he once lost.

"I will never give in to fate again, no one can stand in my way even if it's a ghost or a demon."

Raymond flashed a mocking smile at the fire, his words actually awakening himself. At this moment, from the firelight, a turquoise light shone into his eyes like a call, he tried to hold back the burning in his body, reaching out his arm to grab that ray of light.

In his hand was a shining turquoise stone, the fire around him gradually turned into the color of the stone, and each feeling of coolness and comfort filled his body. The voices and laughter also fell silent. He realized that perhaps this is the process of repenting and paying for previous sins, only when he accepts change and copes will this process end. This made him feel lighter than ever.

Was about to get up again, the blue flame and the stone suddenly flew up, aimed straight at his chest, and entered. The chest and the heart feel strangely like a warm stream flowing through and then back to normal in a moment. Before he could stop wondering, the bell rang from mid-air, signaling that it was time for an important reincarnation. His soul stepped into the bright space before him, clenched fists filled with eagerness for the world he had contracted with Marcus Drake.

Returning to the cave, Harvey and Elias, after returning to replenish their vitality and blood, could no longer keep their composure. The barrier was broken, the cave entrance was smashed, and there was nothing left inside. They quickly went deep into the cave to search, but they were all desperate, even the last task assigned by the dragon king before entering the leveling stage was not completed. They are nothing more than two effective bodyguards of the dragon king.

On this side, what they were trying to find was hugging a tree trunk, below was a wild boar trying to push down a huge tree. Looking closely, that thing seemed like a small dog with turquoise fur that was eye-catching and delicious to the wild boar.

The 'little dog' screamed in vain: "Don't butt into the tree, I can't take it anymore. Why would something like this happen, the dragon king also had to announce an hour in advance that I wasn't reincarnated as a human."

The one that begged and shouted reproachfully was Raymond after being reincarnated. Just a few minutes ago, he felt the space suffocating, so he reached out his hand to try to break the barrier in front of him. When he was able to get out, he discovered that he had crawled out of an egg, but did not know that the same power had simultaneously removed the barrier and the fortified cave of Harvey and Elias.

Raymond looked at the space in the cave, then looked down at his feet and was silent, what kind of person did he reincarnate into? Trying to take a deep breath to regain his composure, he felt a source of energy lurking in his body, the number present on the top of his head was a round zero.

Raymond raised one of his legs to grab it, but many times failed, and the whole person fell to the side: "What does this number represent anyway?"

Raymond stood up, falling on a pile of eggshells earlier, making a happy crackling sound. He looked down and discovered that there was also a number on it. After thinking for a while, he dared to speculate that perhaps these numbers represent the level. He was just born, so his level was the lowest, if he absorbed eggshells, he might increase: “But how to absorb it?”

Raymond hesitated for a moment, then swallowed all the eggshells in his stomach. Seconds later, the number above his head was raised to one hundred. The guess is not wrong, he is quite pleased and thanks for the nights of plowing to be able to judge the situation now, but it is true that eggshells are really difficult to eat. However, why is the rank here increasing so easily, or does it represent another concept that he doesn't know?

“Okay, let's explore this world next. Nothing can stand in my way.”

Raymond poked his head out, saw that there was no danger around, and stepped out on all fours. The first time he used all four legs, he was a bit nervous, but still took steps to not let himself fall. What he needs now is to find a source of water to cool off and see what he looks like.

Raymond walked for a long time, then discovered that the forest not far away looked greener than other areas. This shows that there must be rivers and streams nearby. His years of experience in the jungle certainly wouldn't go wrong. Unable to wait any longer, he immediately dashed in the direction he was determined to go, cutting through the rocks, through the roots of trees, and through the tail of the wild boar.

A scream rang through the sky, shaking Raymond's spirit. He slowly turned his head, and then his eyes met the wild boar as if he had just offended it. He slowly stepped back. Seeing it approaching, he quickly jumped up the tree. On the first day of his reincarnation, he stepped on a wild boar's tail and prayed for it not to be hostile.
