        Chapter8: First kill, system awakening

    

      “Ahhhh"  

       As Azraf and the others marched forward, pitched screens that impeded one’s heart continuously resounded. 

           While dashing furiously, Azraf couldn’t get rid of his excitement. It’s hunting time.

         Up ahead where the unprepared group rushed towards, an unexpected confrontation ensued between them and ten malevolent looking exoskeletal creatures exhibiting eight pointy organs depicting limbs which they used to change positions at an incredible pace.

         “Die, you freakish spider bug!.”  A blue-haired Asian youth with a thin body blurted out furiously as he brought a long wooden staff down on the creature in front of him which was designed towards him, its small eyes which were visible on its dark triangular-shaped head had a ferocious glare.

        “What the hell?.” The Asian youth yelp in shock and terror when he retrieved the broken half of his treasured staff. Meanwhile, the fierce creature snorted in rage as it propelled itself towards him, bearing its teethes at his head.  

         Before he could react, the upper half of his head was bitten through by the shark-like teethes of the fierce creature... Just like that, a recruit has fallen to his death under the attack of the creature but he was not the only victim, similar event unfolded in every corner of the face-off.

        Other recruits feared even worse than the Asian youth as they were taken out seemly with no resistance. 

           Some attacked with swords, axes, knives, spears, and other sharp weapons but unfortunately, they could not penetrate the creatures enough to cause capital injuries,  the highest they prevailed to accomplish was to inflict the creatures with insignificant scars.

          Those holding guns rained down bullets on the creatures but it only postponed the inevitable as the bullets only create scars on the exoskeletal armor coating the creatures. In the end, they were brutally killed as the sharp limbs and teethes tore into them. Their bloods and some internal organs sprayed across the grassy floor, creating a garish scene. 

         This phenomenon led to the creatures appearing so sinister that the mere sight of the creatures put the hearts of all the naïve recruits in terror, they might have signed up and prepared for the worst possible outcome but what unfolded in their very sights is something difficult for any normal person to bear. 

         “run for your lives.” A panicked blond western girl dressed in long jeans and tee-shirt, exclaimed loudly as she fled. Other naïve recruits followed in her footsteps. They all agreed with her solution. Running away was the only way to remain alive. Since they could not  significantly hurt the enemy, foolishly hanging on will only lead to their deaths. 

         At the same time that the naïve recruits started fleeing for their lives, Azraf, Zero, and the few other experienced recruits busted into the front line and made their way over to the creatures.

         “dark chopper spiders.” Azraf spat the moment the creatures entered his line of sight. Apparently, he recognized exactly what they were. Coincidentally, Andrew smith had encountered these type of creatures on his first time playing the virtual reality game, curia online. 

           In his memory, he had knowledge of these creatures most dangerous and week features. Anyone who had once played the game will also have the same knowledge because these creatures were the weakest minions that one will face if you log into the game for the first time.

       “what are you doing, stop!!,” 

         “you’re all going to throw away your lives, those things are impervious to bullets, knives, axes… everything you throw at them.!!.”

       “stop!!, are you all deaf, why  don’t you listen!!” 

        The fleeing recruits sounded warning to the sieging Azraf and the others hoping to stop them from rushing to their demises however, their alarms only fell into deaf ears. Azraf and the others continued, ignoring the warnings. 

          Zero tailed behind Azraf and the others who took the lead not because he also has experience of how the world works but rather, he had trust in Azraf who once reached the legendary last stage of curia online. And has experience that which is very similar to this.

         “ahhh”, Azraf took the lead as he howled and dashed towards the nearest enemy, getting ready to strike.

           The dark chopper spider which was gnawing  on the remains of a victim who had her abdomen pierced through by its pointy leg suddenly stared ahead as it detected an impending threat. It beards its sharp teeth which were awfully decorated with red blood and tissue at Alres in a threatening way, hoping to shoo him away.

            Any normal person would have been apprehensive by the frightening sight. Azraf on the other hand only got more excited to end this devilish existence. Bereft more suspense, he ably slashed down at the creature’s limbs.“seeking death!.” 

          “I didn’t realize that there are idiots  alive who know no nothing about death even in reality until now that I am staring at that guy.” 

          The fleeing naïve recruits who have halted their dashing at some point in time began to mutter to themselves as they gazed at Azraf’s action which looked foolish in their eyes but their theories were about to be proven wrong when Azraf’s weapon collided with the dark chopper spider who was caught somewhat unexpectedly.

      “swoosh!!.” 

        When the sword slashed, it drew an arc across all its limbs, cutting through the impervious body in the eyes of the naïve recruits like pinner butter. The creature screeched as it collapsed to the ground and goofy green blood spilled from it and Its limbs detached from the rest of its being.

          Without pausing, Azraf aimed at its neck. Green blood sprayed and its head was sent flying in the air.

    “ahhhhhh!.” 

          The spectating naïve recruits opened their eyes wide in disbelief, unable to interpret how he was able to penetrate the defense of the hellish creature that they have failed to as much as fatally injure even when they teamed up on it.

          Zero opened his eyes wide in shock, a feminine yelp escaped from his mouth but it was unheard by anyone as the volume was extremely low, and everybody’s attention was on Azraf.

          Azraf on the other hand was unaffected by the confusion around him. A wonderful familiar transformation ensued on his body which made him feel rather delighted. 

        Right after he slew the creature, mysterious energy flooded his entire being coming from his consciousness, every unit of his cell underwent an inexplicable upgrade into a higher state of existence. While this was happening, he lost his perception of outside reality and notifications suddenly rang in his mind.

            These strange upgrades and more the notifications, however, made Azraf feel a sense of usual though not from his original experience as Azraf skythunder but his memory of Andrew smith in the virtual reality game curia online. 

           In his memory of Andrew smith, he understood  basically every aspect the notifications imply.

           The first notification which says host data displayed his basic information about his identity and acquisitions after his kill. Just now, his points, from zero percent changed to one as he obtained one point percentage after killing one of the creatures, he also obtained one coin but he gained no skill hence has zero skills. dragon slayer on another hand is a crucial part of his identity.

          The second notification displayed the status of his being, it shows how strong, fast, agile, and perceptive he just became more than a regular human after his transformation. And it also shows something more, it displays the level of being he evolved into which is still zero cause he isn’t there yet…..

             Last but not the least, his abilities. This is the basic list of things he can now do after evolving. He has basic manipulation of electricity and has minor dragon transformation.

           Meanwhile, in a bustling bear pallor, a lot of people of basically every kind of nationality, ethnic, and race on earth could be seen mostly littered on seats across tables as they drink and waste about. 

          A dignified and gorgeous middle-aged woman with cold continence dressed in a loose black suit and wore a black hat stormed into the bear pallor and made her way over to a particular table where two muscular men of different races who arm-wrestled could be seen.

        In the right corner was a Spanish man dressed in nothing but his sweaty singlet and brown pants while in the left corner, an Indian man who was bare-chested, wearing nothing but tight blue genes faced off against him.

           A crowd of men and women surrounded the two as they cheered loudly contributing greatly to the noisiness of the atmosphere.   

           “you’re needed in the central office, recruits life insurance duties has officially commenced.”

        Arriving in front of them, she stated placidly in a voice that was neither loud nor faint. As it appears, this cold woman is not someone that is used to expressing herself.

        Unfortunately, neither the roaring crowd nor the wrestlers answered her call, they were so engrossed in their activity that they didn’t even notice her presence no matter how many statements she insinuated. It wasn’t until she slammed her leg to the table and broke it into two fractions when she finally had it with them that everyone reacted to her. 

        Everyone present from the wrestlers to the crowd turned their gazes over to her, their moods were the perfect definition of public anger. Many fiery gazes were instantly fixed on her gorgeous figure however, this affected her in no way. Her face remained cold and stern as she snapped in a low tone.

    “you have both been called for recruits’ life insurance duty, get to the central office now.”  

     "Ahhh?, it's lieutenant Natalie."

     Subsequently glimpsing her figure, the two men wrestling  unexpectedly exclaimed at the same time as the irritation in their faces instantly vanished. It was soon replaced by various emotions. Surprise, hopelessness and fear.
