“Are you crazy?” Charles asked the fear gripped employee. The man shuddered, stepping backwards and it did not seem right to Allen.
Charles was agitated as he did not get a reply from the man so he asked again. “Are you crazy Philip? Do you want to lose your job?” His fingers landed across the other man's face and he lost balance, almost falling. He immediately caught balance and went on his knees. What?! It didn't seem right to Allen at all. Charles not only bullied random poor folks but also bullied employees under him. None could speak up. They all stood pale and scared. “I have the power to take all of your jobs one after the other,” Charles bragged, dragging his words. “If you don't obey me, count yourself gone.” Allen couldn't hold it anymore. He forgot that at the moment he was just the poor Allen without all the fancy clothes and accessories. Without thinking, he approached Charles. “What you are doing is against the company's standards, Charles,” Allen said, and everyone turned towards his direction. “Who are you to address me by my name or tell me what to do in my own company,” Charles said, turning towards Allen with an angry grin. “Who I am doesn't matter right now,” Allen raged. “Oh it does. I remember you now,” Charles said with a scoff. “The pipsqueak from earlier. I'm guessing you want a cleaning job because that's what people like you are good for,” Charles added, making eye contact with Allen, his face just a few inches from Allen’s. “Is this how you treat your employees? I promise, if you continue like this, you will lose your job,” Allen warned. Allen's audacity angered Charles and he grabbed Allen by the Collar immediately. “Who do you think you are? I’ll make sure the security deals with you today!” Just then, two men rushed towards Allen, grabbing him by his hands. He struggled to release himself from their grip but it wasn't working. “Beat him mercilessly,” Charles ordered them. Just at that moment, a young lady rushed towards the scene. “Stop, Charles,” the lady identified as Louisa said. “Please leave him alone.” “Give me one good reason why I should leave him alone or get out of my way Louisa,” Charles raged, pushing the lady. It angered Allen even more but she stood back up. “Do you know what this would do to our company? Do you know what will happen if this gets to the boss? Besides, the new C.E.O will be visiting today. What if he is already on his way here?” Louisa spoke, trying to convince Charles. “We'll simply tell him the guy is just a thief who we caught,” Charles said laughing. “But that's wrong!” Louisa screamed. “This man is innocent.” “Telling them I’m a thief is a waste of time because they know who I am and you don't,” Allen said, laughing loudly and Charles' laugh immediately transformed to a frown. “Alright pipsqueak, let's make this easier for me. Shall we?” Charles told him. “If you're that important as you say you are, I will kneel before you, beg for forgiveness and resign from my job but if not, you will bend to my rules, pipsqueak.” Allen scoffed as Charles didn't know what he just agreed to. “Start the beating,” Charles told the men. Just as one of them was about to raise his hands high, Calloway rushed in. “Do you know who you are disrespecting?!” Everyone froze and the hall went quiet. “Mr Calloway, good thing you're here to reprimand this thief,” Charles broke the silence rushing towards Calloway. “Thief? What are you talking about?” Mr Calloway screamed. “We caught him wandering around unsupervised and he is disrespectful,” Charles said again. “Slap!” Mr Calloway’s hand landed on Charles’ face. “How dare you disrespect young master Herondale.” Charles gasped, almost losing balance. He wasn't sure he heard right. The employees murmured. “Mr Calloway you are obviously mistaken. He wouldn't even pass for a cleaner!” Allen laughed seeing the expression on Charles' face. This was just the beginning. “Now that you know who I really am, it's time to fulfil your own part of the bargain.” Charles realised they were being serious about Allen's identity. His eyes widened in disbelief. Allen was literally asking him to downgrade himself in front of his colleagues. He tightened his fists but there was nothing he could do than surrender. “Young master, I know I may have been mistaken at first but it happens right? Can't we just let this go and become buddies?” Charles said, feigning innocence. “I don't have time for your gimmicks Charles. Fulfill your own part of the bargain. Beg for your job,” Allen's voice echoed. “You can't do this to me!” Charles screamed. The security men immediately forced him to his knees. “Beg for your job,” Allen told him without mercy. Charles realised there was nothing he could do than comply. “I, Charles, am sorry for the trouble I’ve caused you young master. Forgive me!” Charles echoed, bowing. A smile crept to Allen's lips. “Now, apologise to Philip and Louisa,” Allen commanded. “They're below me so I can't do—ouchh!!” A blow landed on his cheeks, cutting his words. “I apologise to Louisa, Philip and everyone here,” Charles said hastily, still groaning in pain. “Good, you can keep your job but you will be demoted three positions down. Louisa would be the new manager,” Allen announced. The hall echoed with murmurs, cheers and laughter. Louisa on the other hand just couldn't believe what she had heard so as the crowd dispersed, she ran towards Allen. “Thank you for this opportunity Sir. I really appreciate it,” her soft voice rang in Allen’s ears. Allen stared at the lady in front of him for an unexpected number of minutes. She was very beautiful and curvy. Her long black hair swayed as she spoke with her brown eyes almost enchanting him. “If you don't mind, I can show you to your new office,” she added, cutting into his thoughts. “Uhm…yes…yes,” Allen said, confused. He just couldn't get his head wrapped around this beauty in front of him. He followed her slowly as she guided him to the office.Latest Chapter
CHAPTER 44: Rodrigo
It was a two hour journey and as they drove, they went further out of the city. Soon, they arrived at an almost deserted area with a fenced building standing there."Welcome to your new hideout, Michael," Drey spoke as he slammed the car door shut. Michael scoffed, unimpressed but without a choice. The two men walked in slowly, accessing every inch of the place. As the door flung open, Michael screamed in shock. "What the hell is this?! When you promised me protection, I didn't say I wanted to live in a pig sty!""You have no right to tell me what to do, unless you want to go back to your grandma's and have the police lock you up," Drey threatened, his eyes blank. Michael gulped, not saying a word. He new whatever Drey offered was way better than being locked up."I'll have someone clean up the place but don't you dare step foot out of this house. I'll come visit if the need arises," Drey continued. Michael let out a forced laugh. "Do I look like your prisoner? This place isn't
CHAPTER 43: On the Run!
"You don't know how much I want to see you suffer!" Michael continued. Allen gritted his teeth. "You're an animal, Michael! You deserve no pity! Michael laughed but he knew the police would be there any minute so he had to escape somehow. "I'm not going to let you lock me up easily!" he screamed and barged out of the room heading towards the main door. They all chased after him but it was to late, Michael knew his way around the house more than anyone so he escaped. Allen's knees weakened. How could he have let Michael go so easily. "I've made a big mistake, Jose. I made him escape," Allen managed to say, collapsing on the floor. Jose looked unbothered and that worried Allen. "It's not your fault. Michael is a smart jerk and to catch him you have to play smart like him," Jose said, throwing his phone to Allen who caught it between his fingers. "What is this?" Allen asked, confused. "Michael's confession," Jose revealed proudly. Allen looked at the screen and
CHAPTER 42: I Poisoned Grandma!
Allen immediately rushed out of the station and headed straight for the hospital. In a few minutes, he arrived but Calloway was already there, beaming. The two men barged into the ward to see Madam Ophelia awake and well even though she was still in recovery process. "Allen!" she muttered weakly. Her eyes were dark and gloomy. "Young master!" Calloway spoke excitedly. "This calls for celebration!" "No," Allen said slowly. "No one must know about this except both of us. Not even Michael." He had thought about the risks involved and no one could be trusted. He even talked to the doctor to make sure no one comes inside the ward. "My grandma should stay here for some days to recover properly but after that, we'll move her to her penthouse secretly. If Michael asks, tell him it's strictly doctor's orders," Allen ordered and Calloway nodded obediently. Two days later... Madam Ophelia sat on her bed, healthier with slightly bright eyes. She had even started taking a few st
CHAPTER 41: Get Rid of Him
Meanwhile, at Silvercrest, Allen had just walked in when he noticed Jose walking quickly towards him and immediately knew what Jose wanted. "If it's about Olivia, I don't want to hear anything. She is guilty and that's final!" Allen blurted. "Allen, listen to me," Jose retorted. "I know a liar when I see one and trust me, Olivia is far from that." Allen scoffed, finally turning to Jose's direction. "You see visions now? Don't put your trust in people. Everything points to her!" "Allen!" Jose raged, pulling Allen back. Allen froze. He had never seen Jose that serious or angry. "Please give her a chance." Allen's breathing slowed. Anger burned deep inside him but ignoring his best friend's request was one thing he could not do. He sighed, adjusted his clothes then spoke. "I'll give her another chance for your sake but it better not be in vain," Allen muttered, before walking away. A sigh of relief escaped Jose's lips. He couldn't wait to inform Olivia of the good news
CHAPTER 40: Failed Theft
Michael slipped his phone out of his pocket as he dialed a familiar number. "I tried to ask him nicely but he refused. It's time for plan B," he spoke into the phone. He walked through the offices as he finally arrived at the one he was headed to. The words, Attorney Smith were boldly inscribed on the door. After he knocked on the door, a clear voice told him to come inside. As he flung the door open, an elderly man sat, writing seriously on some papers. "You asked to see me, Mr Herondale," the man started. "Concerning your grandmother's will." Michael nodded, then made his way to the nearest chair. "I really need to see the will. It's urgent." "Are you sure she gave permission for that?" the attorney asked to be sure. "Y...yes she did," Michael stammered. "I had even asked my adopted brother," he lied. The attorney looked at him through the upper part of his glasses for what seemed to be an eternity then walked into another room. Michael tiptoed quietly behind him wat
CHAPTER 39: Michael Herondale in the Flesh
"As much as I want to spend it with you, I also know you didn't hurt Madam," Jose blurted, quickening his steps, a discerning look on his face. "No one would believe me now. Allen has already made up his mind," Olivia responded, the wine tasting bitter in her mouth even though it was made with grapes and other sweet things. "Running would mean I'm guilty so I can't do that either." Jose stared at the floor for what seemed like an eternity, then back at Olivia who looked like she had already given up. "Then fight! Prove that you're innocent. I'll help you, I promise," Jose said staring at her pitifully. Olivia couldn't even look at Jose. Guilt overwhelmed her. Even after how bad she had treated him in the past, he still wanted to help her? "I can't receive help from you. I don't deserve it, really," Olivia muttered. Before Jose could respond, policemen barged through the doors with Tony trailing helplessly behind them. "There was nothing I could do ma'am," he spoke, pantin
