Just then, they spotted Ethan walking out of the Enzogrande compound, his presence calm but commanding as if he were in total control of the world around him.

Loretta’s eyes widened first, then narrowed in suspicion. Titus clenched his fists in frustration while Chloe, desperate to salvage her pride, rushed forward.

“Ethan!” Titus barked, his voice trembling with anger and humiliation. “Did you… did you go behind our backs? Did you bad-mouth us to the company? Because that’s the only reasonable explanation for the kind of insult that we received today!”

Chloe quickly added, her tone sharp and accusatory. “Yes! There’s no other reason why the CEO’s PA would dare humiliate us like this. What did you say about us, Ethan?”

Ethan stopped in his tracks and slowly turned to face them, his eyes carrying a sharp glint that made them uneasy.

“I don’t have time for your nonsense,” he said coolly. “Don’t drag me into your failures. Face your own problems and stop blaming others.”

His words stung like a slap, and for a moment, none of them knew how to respond. Titus’s pride burned as his face turned red. Chloe bit her lip in frustration, but Loretta, ever manipulative, tried another angle.

“Wait, Ethan,” Loretta called out, her tone softer, almost pleading. “At least tell us who the new owner is. You must know something. We’ve been dealing with Enzogrande for years. There’s no way someone can just come in and—”

But before she could finish, Ethan raised a hand, silencing her without a word. His sharp gaze made her falter, and she quickly looked away.

When it became clear that he wasn’t going to indulge them, Loretta turned to the security stationed near the gate. She lifted her chin and spoke loudly, as though her words would still carry authority.

“I want to speak to the head of security,” she declared. “I gave him an instruction earlier, and I need to know why he didn't carry it out. Where is he?”

One of the guards exchanged a glance with another, both suppressing smirks. Finally, one of them replied bluntly, “The head of security you’re looking for? He’s gone. Fired. Escorted out like a crying baby, just like you’ll be if you keep making noise here.”

Loretta’s jaw dropped. Her plan to use the head of security against Ethan had completely backfired. She had imagined the man humiliating Ethan, maybe even roughing him up a little, but instead, he had been humiliated himself and tossed out of the company.

“You’re lying!” she hissed, though her voice wavered.

But the other guard simply shrugged. “Believe what you want, ma’am. The new owner doesn’t tolerate filth or betrayal. That man won’t even be allowed to step near this building again.”

Ethan’s lips curved into the faintest of smirks, one they all noticed but none dared question.

Chloe folded her arms, her face twisted in bitterness. “There’s something he’s not telling us." She whispered more to herself than those who were around.

Loretta, however, was silent, her mind racing. Everything about Ethan felt different today—his confidence, his authority, the way even the guards seemed to treat him with a certain respect making her wonder what exactly was going on.

Titus puffed out his chest like a warrior about to enter a duel, his nostrils flaring as he looked around the compound with an exaggerated air of bravado.

“Leave Ethan to me,” he said, irritated by his sudden show of confidence. It was bad enough that he had already been insulted by the new owner of Enzogrande and his PA, and wasn't going to let Ethan rub it on him with his arrogance.

He may have been embarrassed earlier but he was still Titus Fisher, and he wasn't ready to leave Enzogrande until he gets Ethan to be the object of ridiculing.

“I’ve been waiting for an outlet to release this anger boiling inside me. Today, he will regret ever crossing paths with us!”

The ladies immediately broke into cheers. Loretta clapped as though she had just witnessed a hero descend from the heavens. “That’s the Titus I know! Teach him a lesson he’ll never forget. I want him crawling back home on his knees!”

But Chloe suddenly spun around, her face sharp with irritation. “Loretta, keep quiet!” she barked. “Why are you always shamelessly throwing yourself at other men for help? Titus is my fiancé, not your personal bodyguard. If you need a man to fight for you, then get one yourself!”

Loretta’s face flushed red with both embarrassment and anger. “Oh please, Chloe! Don’t act like you own the world just because Titus is still hanging around you. Do you think he’s only fighting for you? He’s fighting for all of us!”

Chloe folded her arms and glared. “He doesn’t need to fight for all of us. Titus knows where his loyalty lies.”

The tension grew hot, but before the quarrel could spiral further, Titus raised both hands like a general calming his soldiers.

“Enough! All this bickering makes us look weak. If you want Ethan crushed, then crushed he shall be. All you need to do is tell me which part of him you’d like dismantled. His jaw? His ribs? Just name it!"

The girls suddenly went silent, their eyes widening as they processed his words.

Loretta’s lips curved into a sly smile. “Break his nose. That arrogant face of his has always annoyed me.”

Chloe, not wanting to be left out, raised her chin. “No. Leave his face and legs. Hit him where it hurts the most—his pride. Make sure he can’t show off to anyone for weeks.”

Titus listened intently, stroking his chin like a strategist mapping out a battle plan. He nodded solemnly as though taking down notes for a military operation.

“Very well. His nose, his leg, and his pride. Consider it done.”

The ladies gasped in admiration, their earlier quarrel forgotten as they clung to his confidence like children to a bedtime story.

They were already getting fed up with Ethan's arrogance whenever he spoke as if he had forgotten that he was an ex-convict and that there was no place for him in the team world anymore.

Loretta whispered, “Titus, you’re our savior.”

Chloe gave her a side-eye but remained quiet, though her hand slipped possessively into Titus’ arm.

Titus smirked. His anger toward Ethan had now become his fuel for glory. Deep inside, though, he had one tiny doubt—his karate skills were last practiced when he was twelve. Still, he convinced himself that once a warrior, always a warrior.

“Let's do this!" He declared cracking his fingers as he curled them into a fist.

  • Chapter 19: Lucky to have just been slapped

Titus remained frozen and speechless with his cheek still stinging from the slap that still echoed in his ears. For a man who had always been treated like royalty, someone whose word alone commanded respect, this was humiliation of the highest order. His mouth hung open as he tried to recover his dignity, but the eyes of the staff in the lobby burned into him like arrows. Whispers rippled across the room. Employees were covering their mouths to hide their laughter, their eyes wide with amusement at seeing the once-arrogant heir reduced to nothing more than a clown.“You dare slap me?” Titus finally shouted, clutching his cheek with one hand. His voice trembled with rage, but the confidence he usually carried was gone. “Do you even know who I am? My family controls—”The PA didn’t let him finish. His hand lifted again, his expression unreadable, almost bored. The sharp motion alone was enough to make Titus flinch backward like a frightened child. His knees buckled as he stumbled, nar

  • Chapter 18: Unexpected humiliation

Ethan stepped into the grand boardroom of Enzogrande Corporation, the air inside cool and tinged with the faint scent of polished wood and leather. Jules Thunder, the acting CEO, stood respectfully as Ethan entered, documents neatly arranged on the table. Several senior executives were present, their faces full of curiosity, some even disbelief. To them, Ethan looked nothing like the kind of man who should be sitting at the helm of such a prestigious company. He wore no tailored suit, no silk tie—just his quiet confidence and the kind of authority that didn’t need embellishment. One by one, the pages were turned and signed. The sound of the pen gliding across paper carried more weight than any gavel. By the time the last signature was placed, the empire of Enzogrande had officially shifted. A once-impossible reality had become fact.Ethan closed the folder, his gaze steady on Jules Thunder.“There are two immediate instructions I want carried out,” he said, his voice calm but carryi

Today, Ethan would sign the documents that would grant him control over one of the largest corporations in the city. It was also the day the Robbins family’s fate would tilt in an entirely new direction, though none of them had the faintest idea of what was about to unfold.Ethan exhaled deeply, and steadied his breath. To the casual eye, he looked calm and collected, but he knew better—this was only the beginning of a storm that would sweep across not just his life, but Emma’s, Chloe’s, and everyone entangled in their bitter struggle.

“I’ll go,” Chloe declared, her voice brimming with confidence. She didn’t raise it, but there was such a certainty in her tone that it instantly drew all eyes to her, one hand folded neatly over the other, like a queen bestowing her presence upon her subjects. “I’ll finalize the Enzogrande deal on behalf of the Robbins family.”A low murmur passed through the room, followed by eager nods. No one seemed surprised. Why would they be? Chloe had always positioned herself as the family’s pride, the one who carried herself with flawless grace and certainty, and she also had the undeniable advantage of her fiancé.Everyone knew Titus Fisher’s background. The Fisher family’s influence stretched through the upper corridors of business and finance, and Titus himself had a reputation for his expansive circle of friends within Enzogrande Corporation. With him at her side, Chloe didn’t even have to lift a finger. Doors that might have remained firmly shut for the Robbins family would swing wide op

  • Chapter 15: Another chance with Enzogrande

“I’ll not stand here and allow this man humiliate the apprentice,” the family doctor intervened as his eyes swept across the gathered relatives. “Whether you like it or not, this apprentice is your only bridge to the Grand Physician. If you offend him because of this one time lucky pauper, then you can forget any chance of the Grand Physician ever coming to save the patriarch.”The room grew still. The weight of the warning settled heavily on every face. No one dared speak against it because they needed the Grand Physician to perfect whatever it was that Ethan had done to their Grandfather.“You don’t need him to reach the Grand Physician. I can do that myself. If you’ll only listen, I can make it happen.” Ethan said. The family’s heads turned toward him in unison, but instead of gratitude, what reflected in their eyes was hostility—thinly veiled disgust.Leif let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “You? Do you even hear yourself, Ethan? You—a man with no name, no status, no place in this fam
