Titus remained frozen and speechless with his cheek still stinging from the slap that still echoed in his ears. For a man who had always been treated like royalty, someone whose word alone commanded respect, this was humiliation of the highest order.
His mouth hung open as he tried to recover his dignity, but the eyes of the staff in the lobby burned into him like arrows. Whispers rippled across the room.
Employees were covering their mouths to hide their laughter, their eyes wide with amusement at seeing the once-arrogant heir reduced to nothing more than a clown.
“You dare slap me?” Titus finally shouted, clutching his cheek with one hand. His voice trembled with rage, but the confidence he usually carried was gone. “Do you even know who I am? My family controls—”
The PA didn’t let him finish. His hand lifted again, his expression unreadable, almost bored. The sharp motion alone was enough to make Titus flinch backward like a frightened child. His knees buckled as he stumbled, narrowly avoiding another slap.
That was the final blow—not the physical slap, but the realization that he, Titus, feared a mere assistant. With his pride shattered, he turned on his heel and bolted for the exit, muttering curses under his breath.
Staff and visitors alike burst into open laughter, their mocking voices chasing him as he disappeared beyond the doors.
Loretta, who had been silently observing the spectacle, tilted her head, her lips curling into a sly smile. Unlike Titus, she wasn’t one to let humiliation linger—not if there was an opportunity to twist it into advantage.
She smoothed the fabric of her fitted dress with slow, deliberate movements, then stepped closer to the PA. Her perfume drifted in the air, sweet and intoxicating.
“Impressive,” she whispered, her tone soft, seductive. “Not many men can put Titus Fisher in his place like that. You’ve got… authority.”
The PA raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. “Authority? That was nothing. I was simply following orders. The new owner doesn’t want to see people like you.”
Loretta leaned in, her voice dropping lower, almost conspiratorial. “Oh, come now. You don’t need to be so harsh. We both know business is about… flexibility.” Her manicured fingers lightly traced the edge of her clutch bag as she looked him up and down, her eyes glimmering with unspoken invitation.
“You could have me,” she whispered boldly, her lips curving into a wicked smile. “I know how to… reward a man of power. And if you play your cards right, maybe the new owner could have me too. Men like him don’t turn down a woman like me.”
The PA’s eyes widened in disgust. In all his years of serving under great men of power, never had he seen such shamelessness displayed so boldly. To suggest that the new owner—his master—could be reduced to bargaining over scraps of her vanity was an insult he would not tolerate.
With a sharp shove, he pushed her away. Loretta stumbled backward before she landed with a painful thud.
“How dare you speak so lowly of the man you don’t even know! You’ve spat on his honor, and for that alone, you have no place here.” He turned to the security men standing at the door. “Throw these women out immediately. And make sure their names are blacklisted from ever stepping foot in this building again.”
The guards moved without hesitation as Loretta scrambled to her feet, her cheeks flushed with humiliation, while Chloe protested loudly, cursing under her breath.
They were all but dragged to the doors, like some low lives with no iota of class or honour to their names or that of their families.
Outside, Titus stood waiting, nursing the sting of his shame after being humiliated before so many. When he saw Loretta being pushed out, hair disheveled and dress twisted awkwardly, his face twisted with fury.
“What happened now?” he demanded.
“They threw us out!” Loretta screeched, her voice shrill with rage. “That bastard PA humiliated me in front of everyone. He even dared to touch me—me!”
Chloe crossed her arms, looking equally enraged though she hid her humiliation behind a cold mask.
Unable to contain his anger, he pulled out his phone and called his father.
The line connected, and his father’s commanding voice came through. “What is it, Titus? I’m in a meeting.”
“Father!” Titus nearly shouted, his voice breaking with emotion. “You won’t believe what they did to me here at Enzogrande! The PA slapped me. Slapped me! And then he had security drag Chloe my fiancée out like we were beggars! I demand justice for this. We cannot allow them to treat us like trash!”
For a moment, silence lingered on the line. Then his father’s voice dropped, cold and heavy. “You fool. Do you even realize whose ground you are standing on?”
Titus blinked, confused. “It’s Enzogrande Corporation, but—”
“But nothing!” his father cut him off. “That corporation is not like the petty businesses you are used to trampling on with your arrogance. The man who owns it now… he could bankrupt us in a single breath if he wished. Do you think our family’s influence means anything before such power?”
Titus’s chest heaved, but he struggled to accept his father’s words. “So we just do nothing? Let them humiliate us like this?”
“Yes,” his father’s voice snapped with finality. “You will do exactly nothing. You will never set foot inside that building again. Do you hear me? This isn’t a request. It’s a command. If you value your future, stay away.”
Titus froze, his pride warring with the sharp edge of fear cutting into him. “But father—”
“No buts. I will handle this matter. I will call the PA myself and apologize for your foolishness. Consider yourself lucky you were only slapped. If the new owner had taken offense himself, you’d be in far worse shape than this.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving Titus standing there, his phone clutched tightly in his trembling hand. His pride screamed for revenge, but his father’s warning left a cold dread coiling in his stomach.
Beside him, Chloe and Loretta looked at him expectantly, their faces a mixture of outrage and curiosity.
“What did he say?” Chloe demanded.
Titus lowered his head, shame burning in his cheeks. “He said… we are never to go back there again.”
Loretta’s mouth fell open in disbelief. “What? After everything? After being humiliated like this?”
“Yes,” Titus muttered, his voice bitter. “And he said he’s going to apologize on my behalf.”
"What?" Chloe's face reddened. "This is absurd!" She barked even louder.

Just then, they spotted Ethan walking out of the Enzogrande compound, his presence calm but commanding as if he were in total control of the world around him. Loretta’s eyes widened first, then narrowed in suspicion. Titus clenched his fists in frustration while Chloe, desperate to salvage her pride, rushed forward.“Ethan!” Titus barked, his voice trembling with anger and humiliation. “Did you… did you go behind our backs? Did you bad-mouth us to the company? Because that’s the only reasonable explanation for the kind of insult that we received today!”Chloe quickly added, her tone sharp and accusatory. “Yes! There’s no other reason why the CEO’s PA would dare humiliate us like this. What did you say about us, Ethan?”Ethan stopped in his tracks and slowly turned to face them, his eyes carrying a sharp glint that made them uneasy.“I don’t have time for your nonsense,” he said coolly. “Don’t drag me into your failures. Face your own problems and stop blaming others.”His words stung

Chapter 18: Unexpected humiliation
Ethan stepped into the grand boardroom of Enzogrande Corporation, the air inside cool and tinged with the faint scent of polished wood and leather. Jules Thunder, the acting CEO, stood respectfully as Ethan entered, documents neatly arranged on the table. Several senior executives were present, their faces full of curiosity, some even disbelief. To them, Ethan looked nothing like the kind of man who should be sitting at the helm of such a prestigious company. He wore no tailored suit, no silk tie—just his quiet confidence and the kind of authority that didn’t need embellishment. One by one, the pages were turned and signed. The sound of the pen gliding across paper carried more weight than any gavel. By the time the last signature was placed, the empire of Enzogrande had officially shifted. A once-impossible reality had become fact.Ethan closed the folder, his gaze steady on Jules Thunder.“There are two immediate instructions I want carried out,” he said, his voice calm but carryi

Chapter 16: Cousins' challenge
“I’ll go,” Chloe declared, her voice brimming with confidence. She didn’t raise it, but there was such a certainty in her tone that it instantly drew all eyes to her, one hand folded neatly over the other, like a queen bestowing her presence upon her subjects. “I’ll finalize the Enzogrande deal on behalf of the Robbins family.”A low murmur passed through the room, followed by eager nods. No one seemed surprised. Why would they be? Chloe had always positioned herself as the family’s pride, the one who carried herself with flawless grace and certainty, and she also had the undeniable advantage of her fiancé.Everyone knew Titus Fisher’s background. The Fisher family’s influence stretched through the upper corridors of business and finance, and Titus himself had a reputation for his expansive circle of friends within Enzogrande Corporation. With him at her side, Chloe didn’t even have to lift a finger. Doors that might have remained firmly shut for the Robbins family would swing wide op
Chapter 15: Another chance with Enzogrande
“I’ll not stand here and allow this man humiliate the apprentice,” the family doctor intervened as his eyes swept across the gathered relatives. “Whether you like it or not, this apprentice is your only bridge to the Grand Physician. If you offend him because of this one time lucky pauper, then you can forget any chance of the Grand Physician ever coming to save the patriarch.”The room grew still. The weight of the warning settled heavily on every face. No one dared speak against it because they needed the Grand Physician to perfect whatever it was that Ethan had done to their Grandfather.“You don’t need him to reach the Grand Physician. I can do that myself. If you’ll only listen, I can make it happen.” Ethan said. The family’s heads turned toward him in unison, but instead of gratitude, what reflected in their eyes was hostility—thinly veiled disgust.Leif let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “You? Do you even hear yourself, Ethan? You—a man with no name, no status, no place in this fam
