Chapter 7

Arthur held the divorce papers that Daphne had handed him. The tension in the air was palpable as they stood facing each other.

Daphne, her voice filled with irritation, broke the silence. "Well, Arthur, why aren't you signing? I'm done with you."

Arthur's response was calm, and a faint smile played on his lips. "Oh, Daphne, you must have misunderstood."

Daphne's eyes widened in surprise. She had expected a different reaction from Arthur, perhaps a plea for reconciliation. His composed response caught her off guard, and it seemed to irritate her even more.

Mr. Yang, who had been staring at Daphne noticed Daphne's frustration. He then chimed in, "Daphne, you should be happy to let go of such a wretched man."

Daphne nodded, her irritation evident. "You're right, Mr. Yang. I'm very delighted."

Arthur couldn't help but smile at Mr. Yang's comment. He took a pen from the table, signed the divorce papers and handed them to Daphne. "There you go, Daphne. I wish you luck."

With that, Arthur turned and walked to the closet. He began packing his belongings, folding his clothes neatly and placing them in a suitcase.

Daphne watched him, her annoyance growing. She couldn't understand why Arthur's calm demeanor and willingness to divorce her bothered her so much.

...

In the elegant mansion that belonged to Nicole's family, Mr. Lee's personal bodyguard, James, stood before him. The room was adorned with opulent furnishings, and the atmosphere was hushed.

James began to provide the information he had gathered. "Mr. Lee, I did some digging on Arthur. It turns out he's an orphan who was raised by Mr. Lin, the head of the Lin family, and later married into their family."

Mr. Lee raised an eyebrow, intrigued by this revelation. "That's quite an interesting background. But how did someone with his upbringing acquire such medical expertise?"

James hesitated for a moment, carefully choosing his words. "Well, Mr. Lee, I also looked into his career history. Arthur studied Cybersecurity."

Mr. Lee furrowed his brows, puzzled by the seemingly unrelated fields. "Cybersecurity? That's an unusual transition to medical expertise. Are you sure about this?"

James nodded firmly. "Yes, sir, the information is accurate."

Mr. Lee leaned back in his chair, deep in thought.

Back at the Lin estate, Arthur carefully maneuvered his luggage down the grand staircase.

As he descended, he spotted Amelia and Kimberly in the living room, clinking their glasses together.

They seemed to be celebrating his departure.

Amelia couldn't help but smirk, realizing that they wouldn't have to endure his presence any longer.

Kimberly noticed him approaching and walked over with a sly grin. "Arthur," she said mockingly, "looks like we won't be graced with your presence anymore."

Arthur didn't rise to her taunts. Instead, he responded calmly, "Yes, it seems that way. Excuse me, please."

Amelia's annoyance flared, and she deliberately tipped her glass, spilling its contents all over Arthur's clothes.

Arthur's hands tightened on the handle of his luggage. He felt his powers stirring within him.

His eyes widened, as he saw white fines around his hands. s

His hand on his luggage was shaking. Arthur knew he had to leave quickly before things got out of hand.

Without a word, he turned and hurried out of the estate, dragging his luggage behind him. He had no desire to cause any more damage to a place that had once been his home.

Despite the sisters' animosity, Mr. Lin had done a lot for him by raising him as his own, and he didn't want to repay that kindness with destruction.

...

Arthur stood outside gate of the estate, his eyes were fixed on his hands.

The fumes around his trembling hands were still vivid.

It left him in shock, and his heart were thumping fast as if it would lunged out if his chest.

Slowly, with trembling fingers, he released his grip on his luggage. As his palm opened, a sudden burst of icy energy shot from his hand, striking the ground.

The temperature dropped, and frost rapidly spread across the path.

Arthur was taken aback. He lost his balance and stumbled backward, landing hard on the cold ground.

He watched in awe as the icy patch beneath him began to melt, leaving only a damp spot.

His hands slowly changed back to their normal state, but Arthur was left feeling devastated and bewildered.

He had no idea what kind of powers had awakened within him. Earlier, he had felt elation at being able to cure Mr. Lee, but now it seemed that his newfound abilities were just as dangerous as they were promising.

Arthur's nerves were on edge. Suddenly, a sound of music pierced the silence, making him jump in fright.

For a moment, he was terrified, his mind racing as he wondered where the sound was coming from.

When he realized that it was his phone ringing. With trembling hands, he answered the call.

It was Mr. Lee on the other end of the line.

"Arthur," Mr. Lee inquired warmly, "how's your family? Are they all right?"

Arthur hesitated for a moment as his gaze wavered towards the estate. He didn't exactly have any family now, he thought.

Arthur sighed heavily, then he answered, "Everything is okay, Mr. Lee."

Mr. Lee, however, seemed to sense that something was amiss. He cleared his throat and then got straight to the point, "Arthur, I have some business matters I'd like to discuss with you. It's rather late now..."

Before he could finish, Arthur interrupted, his voice eager, "I can come over right away, Mr. Lee. It's not a problem at all."

There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before Mr. Lee finally responded, "Very well, Arthur. If you're sure, then please do come. We'll discuss it when you arrive."

Meanwhile, as Mr Lee hung up, James muttered to him, "There seemed to be a problem at Arthur's home on the night he had jumped off the bridge. The family threw him out."

Mr Lee sighed as he wondered, why such a good person was thrown out from his in-laws home.
