Chapter 1 : Experiencing Transmigration
Arthur looked around. Why was he suddenly here? This place was completely unfamiliar to him—an ancient building he had never visited before.
An elderly woman was staring at him, crying with a look of despair on her face. She looked so pitiful.
Who was that woman? Why was she staring at him with such a sorrowful expression? It wasn’t just her—there were about five burly men standing beside her. Far from protecting her, those men seemed intent on being violent toward the elderly woman. Sure enough, one of them struck her. Naturally, this shocked me, and I glared at them angrily.
Just imagine—a nearly helpless elderly woman having to face five burly men.
But what he found strange was, why was he even here? And why was he witnessing those five burly men hurting the elderly woman? Was he dreaming? But everything felt so real.
As far as he could recall, he’d pushed himself too hard to keep working for a $1,000 paycheck even though he had a high fever. Because he was so unwilling to have his pay docked for missing work, he forced himself to go to work even while sick just to keep his paycheck intact. But he ended up getting into an accident because he couldn’t withstand the dizziness—so why was he here now?
“Pay your debt quickly, you bastard! Or your mother here will suffer the consequences.”
The old woman was crying because her fate was so tragic. It was certain her son wouldn’t care about her.
‘Debt? Since when did I have a debt?’
As far as he could remember, he had paid off all his debts three years ago—so why was there a debt collector again? And why were they saying that the old woman was his mother?
Arthur felt that his body was different. It should have had a perfect physique, but he felt incredibly heavy in his own skin. He touched his large hands, which were covered in fat. Suddenly, a light appeared, and Arthur, seeing it, immediately took a few steps back.
Time seemed to stop for a moment as the light revealed some personal information.
Name: Arthur Zaxnke
Age: 26 years old.
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 190 kg
Hobbies: Eating and gambling
Health: 75% good
Abilities: Not yet detected
What on earth is all this? That personal data seemed strangely familiar. And why had his body become so fat?
“I must be dreaming!”
“Arthur, how could you be so cruel to Mom? Stop running up debts and gambling. But you’re getting even more reckless by borrowing money from the leader of the Demon Sect.” The old woman began crying even harder.
Arthur scratched his head—which wasn’t itchy—confused by the old woman’s words, but he also felt sorry for her.
“Wait! Could he have undergone transmigration? But isn’t that impossible?”
“Why are you daydreaming! Do you want us to kill your mother so we can harvest her organs? That’s part of the terms of the agreement, isn’t it?”
Arthur glared angrily at the bald man. But he was even angrier at the original owner of this body. His own mother was being used as a sacrifice to pay off his debts. Didn’t he have a brain?
Now he had to figure out a way to solve this problem. He was already trapped in this damn body, so there was no way he could just walk away and let that old woman die like that.
But how? Fighting them was out of the question. Considering he was now in an extremely obese body, while the five of them were strong and muscular, he’d be an easy target for them. Besides, he didn’t even know if the original owner of this body had any money or not.
“Don’t just stand there! Make up your mind quickly—pay your debt or your mother’s life.”
“Give me a little more time; I’ll pay it off right away. Please let my mother go—don’t hurt her.”
The old woman stared at Arthur in disbelief. Did her son actually care about her?
“If I don’t pay off my debt within a week, you can just take my organs! Even though I’m very overweight, my organs are perfectly healthy.”
“You said you’re an alcoholic, and your internal organs often have problems. That’s why you wrote that agreement to let them take your mother’s organs instead.”
“I was drunk at the time, so I was just talking nonsense. Actually, my organs are still very healthy.”
“All right. We’ll give you a week! If you still don’t have the money, you’ll have to pay with your life!” the man said as he shoved the frail old woman. Seeing this, Arthur struggled to help her to her feet.
Arthur tried to accept his fate; since he was trapped in this fat body, he automatically had to resolve the problems caused by the original owner of this body.
The original owner’s name was just like his own—with only a slight difference in the last name.
Arthur’s eyes widened. Don’t tell me he was trapped in the comic he’d read two days ago. The comic was titled *The Dual-Eyed Sword Master*. He was in awe of the main character, but deeply annoyed by the supporting character who was nothing but a burden. He had even cursed the author for giving the character he hated a name just like his own. He kept ranting because that character’s traits were driving him crazy.
Besides being a burden on his family, the fat man was incredibly lazy. He had no strength whatsoever because he refused to train. He didn’t care about his fat body; the most important thing was that he could enjoy good food. He also remembered that the fat man had died at the hands of his own mother—poisoned because she could no longer tolerate her son’s behavior.
'Change to survive—that’s for sure!'
It wasn’t just about survival; he wanted to possess that magical double-edged sword, just like the main character. The sword always brought good luck and was incredibly powerful. It also possessed a captivating charm that made many women fall for it.
“Arthur,” the old woman whispered, her face filled with fear.
Arthur snapped out of his reverie. Now, what he had to think about was settling the debt first. What bad luck! He’d lost $1,000, and now he had to shoulder someone else’s debt.
“Mom, go inside and tend to your wounds first. I’ll take full responsibility for this without involving you!”
The woman looked at Arthur with an expression that was hard to read. However, she didn’t refuse her son’s order; she went inside to treat the wounds she’d received from the man’s blows.
“Where am I supposed to find the money? With this overweight body, it’s going to be hard to get a job,” Arthur grumbled with a frustrated look on his face.
