Thomas immediately cowered away from Adrian, standing as though he had no part in what had happened to the Young Lord. Above them were three people riding in horses that had wings and wore the Azure Sky Sect robes, flagging its banner as they approached them.

One of them stepped down from the horse, an older woman with silver hair and immediately, Thomas dropped to his knees and bowed before her. Her essence was blinding and far more powerful than his.

“Forgive me, your grace,” Thomas begged, his face bent to the ground. “I didn't mean to trouble the Nascent Soul realm.”

She didn't say a word to him, she just walked past him and headed straight to Adrian who was barely breathing.

“Who are you?” He managed to ask, staring at her with one eye.

“You don't have to be scared, child. Not anymore,” her soft voice assured. “I am Elder Sarah White, from the Azure Sky Sect and we've been watching you,” she nodded softly and continued. “...for quite a while now as a potential recruit.” She offered her hand to him, but he was too weak to grab her hand.

She sighed softly and turned to Thomas who was standing now, but his face bent.

“As it seems, we got an invite to this ceremony and just arrived to witness the attempted murder of our recruit?” Her voice was stern as she walked closer to the trembling Thomas now.

“Look me in the eye and tell me what's the meaning of this madness, Lord Thomas!” She spat, brushing past him.

“Forgive me, my lady. It is really not what it looks like,” Thomas tried to explain with his smooth lying tongue and his deceitful fake smile.

But Elder Sarah wasn't one to be messed with petty lies.

“Pardon?” She scoffed, pretending not to have heard the gibberish he just said.

Thomas paused for a while, took a breath and a step closer, trying to solidify his claim with sincerity he was good at feigning.

“I mean, Adrian had a cultivation accident that made him go crazy and tried to attack everyone. I had to defend everyone,” he explained calmly, fighting his stuttering tongue.

“Your Grace, you can see the walls and the injured elders,” he pointed at them. “The boy needs to be killed, he's nothing but a rogue cultivator with too much power and we both know what that means for the realms.”

Elder Sarah White stood up slowly and paced around him gently, staring at the intimidated Thomas and listening to his frail heartbeat.

“From what I can remember, you housed this boy you now tag a rogue cultivator. Fed him, clothed him and want to kill him now his powers are manifesting?” She raised an eyebrow.

“No, Your Grace…”

“That's enough,” she snapped. “I would not entertain any further lies from you,” she scolded and stepped away from him, standing before the broken Adrian and knelt beside him.

She examined him carefully and placed her hand on his chest, the very point where the core of the pattern formed on his body before was and a bright light glowed from her palm. Her eyes closed as she examined him and moments later, her hand was yanked off his chest by a greater force. The other rushed to the panting Elder White but she shoved them aside and stood up, dazzled at the sight before her.

“So it is true, He possesses the Supreme Beast Sovereign Physique. He must be guarded with everything we've got.”

She turned to the others with a stern look.

“Take him, he's a treasure beyond measure. We can't let him fall in the wrong hands,” she smirked at Thomas.

The others grabbed him and he groaned softly as they took him away to the carriage fastened to the horses.

“But Your Grace, as you said, the boy is my son, I must protect him,” Thomas begged, as he tried to hold the carriage from taking him away.

Elder Sarah's voice was firm as she saddled her horse.

“The boy is now under the protection of the Azure Sky Sect and we're taking him for medical treatment,” she paused and turned to him with a scowl. “And further investigations will be made, we will get to the bottom of this, Lord Thomas.” She stated.

She mounted her horse and stared at him once again.

“If the Ashford’s have any complaints, they can file them through the proper channels. But the sect protects its candidates,” she warned and wanted to ride back into the sky when Thomas stopped her.

“Your Grace, the boy is mine!” He pressed.

Elder White stared at him and her eyes glowed with an ethereal light, her palm burned with the same energy.

“Not anymore!” She snapped and struck a pulse of the Nascent Soul power. The wooden pillars groaned and the windows shattered, followed by gasping breaths. They all dropped to their knees from the pressure, lest they be consumed by her wrath.

“The Ashford's have no say in his matter anymore. He now belongs to the sect,” she stamped and was about to ride off when she paused and turned to Thomas again.

“And Thomas, this is your last warning. The Sect has been watching The Ashfords overtime because of the rumors of bloodline experiments. We'll surely investigate what happened to Adrian thoroughly,” she warned. “And if we find out that your family deliberately harmed him, there will be dire consequences!”

“You know very well, the Ashford's might lose their cultivation license and I'll see to it that you are kicked out of the regional association. That would destroy your powers completely and we don't want that right?” She raised an eyebrow with a soft smirk. “Be good, don't let me visit you again, Lord Thomas,” she snapped and whipped her horse gently, riding off into the skies, alongside her companions and Adrian in the carriage.

As Adrian lost consciousness, thinking he had finally been saved by a righteous immortal and he could finally rest, that joy was cut short once again, though he didn't have the luxury of knowing about it. He was drained and fast asleep.

Elder White rode peacefully, but with a victorious grin on her face. She turned to the two guards behind her.

"Inform the Sect Master immediately. The Ashford fools didn't even realize they were cultivating a Supreme Beast Sovereign. Tell them to prepare the inner sanctum for his arrival. Once his core heals, we will harvest the root ourselves.”

Adrian’s head throbbed with a violent, rhythmic ache as the morning sunlight pierced through the window. He pushed himself up, grinning as he rubbed his temples. He remembered the meditation chamber. He remembered the flames, the scythe, the triumph of hitting the seventh level. But after Thomas told him to wash up? After dark? Nothing. Just a blurred, static haze and the foul taste of blood in his mouth. A Qi deviation. He must have pushed his new core too hard and blacked out, that was the only explanation to this sudden memory loss. But if it was just exhaustion, why did his stomach twist with a rather suffocating dread? His vision was blurred for a while as he dodged the blinding light sipping from the window, rolling over to the other side of the bed.Yuki was by his side, moving around in circles, swaying her tales and whining endlessly.“What's the matter?” Adrian raised an eyebrow at the white beast, but her response was rather dazzling.“You can't attend the ceremony!” Yuk
