Chapter 22 - Zombies
It took Dave a little while to get used to riding an electric bike. Growing up as a farm kid, he had plenty of experience on large machinery and never had to take driving lessons but never had experience with a bike. The roads were uneven and unsuitable for a two-wheeler. The closest he ever came to a bike was a three-wheeler. However, since it was an electric bike and he naturally had a good balance, he quickly got the hang of it. Then came the pressure of unfamiliar environments and leaping zombies. Yes, leaping zombies. Hei Yu called them ambushers. While they were weak and had the same attributes as the normal zombies they were used to, these ones behaved completely differently. Instead of rushing towards any and all signs of life, they would instead stay in hiding and leap out like frogs to climb on anyone who approached, hence the name, 'Ambushers'. Chapter 21 - Wild Awakened
The airport was some four kilometers from the University where Dave's sisters attended. To get there, they would have to battle through swarms of zombies, not to mention other city survivors. In a lawless world, man could potentially be more dangerous than any zombie or monster ever could. The plane touched down silently and the engines were promptly shut off to avoid attracting attention. Unlike most movies portrayed zombies, we're not attracted to sound but could somehow sense life. But there were many other things capable of picking up sound. Inside the plane, Dave walked on his own towards the now cleaned-out cargo bay. He surveyed the space and counted how many vehicles they had left. The truck from earlier was gone but the Motorbike Alisha used had been repaired. The space was clean like nothing happened in it. The plane let out a gentle hum as it broke slowly through the clouds, meanwhile within, Dave started to shiver soon after eating."What exactly is going on with you?" Celine asked as she watched Hei Yu support him towards his room."Just changed tol rapidly that's all. I'm okay, it's just my mind tricking my body into thinking I'm not. "Woah, my compatibility is awful" Hei Yu groaned. "What's going on?" Celine asked glancing between the two of them in confusion. "Changes to the Awakened system" Dave shook his head. He decided to keep his compatibility to himself for now. After all, his system window just collapsed out of nowhere and he lost access to it completely. Such information could either make him valuable or vulnerable, depending on the perspective of anyone interested in him. He sat up slowly and struggled to get off the bed. Hei Yu quickly hurried forward to support him. "What happened with your friends?" Dave asked. Of course, he had long since noticed their absence. Celine walked beside them as Hei Yu supported Dave out of the infirmary and into a dining room. As they walked, she recounted what happened after Dave got off the plane. Chapter 18 - Back on The Plane
It was more than a struggle to get the car into the plane after it went airborne and even more to get out of the flipped car once it was inside the cargo bay, and going through all that while giving CPR was impossible. By now, Celine, Hei Yu, and the guard in the car had taken turns keeping Dave's heart beating while the plane staff fought hard to saw the door open. Unfortunately, after all that tossing, the door Dave had reinstalled, along with all other doors, had gotten stuck. "We'll get you out soon enough; it's a common fault with this truck brand," Mr Celeste urged.
