Andrew and Dina carefully moved Phillip to a bench that was still intact in the hall of the mall. Dina went and came back with some water in a bowl from a nearby fountain and tore a piece of her flannel shirt to use as a rag.
She carefully wiped the blood and fluids that he had racked up on his body after his bout with the infected. And for a split second, she caught herself looking closer at the features of Phillips's face. His facial structure was well-defined, his silver hair made him seem like a character out of a fantasy novel. Well, he had randomly appeared and saved her and her brother when they were in danger, sort of like a prince. Those feelings, however, were unwarranted considering the current situation. The world was falling apart, and they didn’t even know if they would survive till next week. This infatuation with Phillip had to be limited, for everybody’s good. When she had cleaned him up to a decent extent she tilted his head up and gave him some water before gently placing him down. From the corner of her eye, she could see Andrew talking to Kaiser. His troops had returned since there were no more infected. She couldn’t make out what they were saying but she assumed it had to do with Phillip.Just as she thought that, Kaiser looked towards their direction. Her thoughts were correct, the man was similar to Phillip.Maybe that meant there were more of them, and they wanted to take Phillip as well. What would happen to her and Andrew? Would they come along as well?So many questions filled her mind before they were interrupted by Andrew’s voice.“Dina, come over here for a second.” He said tapping her shoulder. They walked over to the fountain, out of range from Kaiser and his men.“So what did he say? Who are they?” She asked him. Andrew knew she would panic, the situation was unexpected.“According to him, he’s the leader of the SGU or special grade unit. They go out looking for survivors and more special grades like Phillip, so they can fight the infected.”“So they only want Phillip? What’s going to happen to us then?” Dina asked curiously.“Don’t worry, he said that we could accompany Phillip since we’re all companions. They’re going back to their base right now, we’ll go with them and be safe there.” Andrew assured her.“Okay okay, I understand. When do we leave?”“In the next hour or so. In the meantime I’ll go look for more supplies while we go, okay?” Andrew said with an inexplicable glint in his eye.He picked up the backpack that they had been carrying and walked back towards the food court alone. Dina didn’t need to be a genius to know something was wrong. However her brother wouldn’t just leave her alone if her life was in danger, so she decided not to panic and wait there with Phillip. He had a plan.***“What the hell kind of unexpected situation is this?” Andrew muttered to himself as he walked further away from where everyone was gathered. His instincts could vividly tell him that those people weren’t the good guys. He couldn’t explain it, but they were bad news. After talking to Kaiser for a few minutes he could immediately tell that they weren’t interested in rescuing them. All they wanted was Phillip and information about him. That’s probably why they let him and Dina be. He didn’t ask too many questions because he felt that would put them in danger. Too many questions would make them a problem and seeing Kaiser's strength and manpower, it wouldn’t take a lot to Kill him and his sister. He only said he wanted to search for food to organize his thoughts properly. However, it didn’t seem to help much as he was still at a loss for what to do.“Okay, they said it’ll take at least 2 days to get to their base. Phillip should have recovered by then. When he does, I’ll explain everything to him and we’ll know the next course of action.” He muttered to himself. He felt ashamed of himself, having to rely on someone else for both his and his sister's survival. But there was nothing else he could do. The playing field was no longer level so he had to use every advantage he had.A short walk back he could see Kaiser and his men packing up and preparing to leave. He saw Dina trying to prop up Phillip from the bench before two of Kaiser’s men came and carried him.“Hey! Where are you taking him?” Dina protested, trying to go after him but she was stopped by another soldier.“Don’t worry, he will be safe. We will simply be transporting him in another vehicle.” Kaiser tried to assure her.“Why can’t he travel with us instead?” Dina protested further.“It is all a part of standard protocol. I won’t repeat mysel. Now come with me, I will guide you to our transport vehicles.” Kaiser said without a second glance. As he began to walk, all the guards walked behind him.Andrew met up with his sister and put his hand on her shoulder before whispering into her ear. “Don’t worry, I feel it too. Something is off here we just need to play along for now. Everything will be okay, just relax.” He said as calmly as possible.Dina slightly nodded her head and both of them followed Kaiser and his men outside the shopping mall where they saw 4 armored vehicles waiting outside.Whoever these guys were, they had strong backing. The vehicles had “S.G.O” boldly plastered on the sides of all of them. Some men moved Phillip into the back of what they assumed to be an armored ambulance as there was a stretcher inside it. They placed him on top and pushed it inside before locking the doors.Kaiser then walked over to Dina and Andrew. “We will be using his car together. Get in.” He said, gesturing to what was formerly a pickup truck.Without much of a choice, the siblings climbed into the back of the truck. Two soldiers followed after them, sitting beside each of them.Kaiser however got into the front seat “Let’s move.” He said as the truck began moving with the rest following in tow.Andrew and Dina looked at themselves, and back the ambulance that Phillip was riding inside. They needed to let him know what was happening, he was their best bet at getting out of this predicament.

Xander was in a bind, the cabin they had struggled so much to get to was right in front of them but instead of relief, he felt tension. The people there numbered about ten or so, it wouldn’t be wise to confront them head-on.Furthermore, he did not want to approach them either. After what he had experienced with Mark and Adrian, he did not want to give anybody the benefit of the doubt. He could still remember the look on his face when he tried to choke the life out of him. He had gotten wiser in the last twenty-four hours believe it or not.He concluded that the best he could do was simply try to get enough cans of food before the others entered into the cabin. Funnily enough, they seemeddisagreeing. An older man with patches of grey hair seemed to be telling them not to forcefully enter, while a slightly younger man, probably middle-aged was raging for them to break the door down. This however was not a time for him to gawk and stare. It was a time for him to act! “Hailey, stay here

"Life can be annoying honestly," Andrew said as he looked through the window at the harsh downpour of the rain. When the group thought that they could move for a few more hours until sunset, it suddenly began to rain heavily. Enough to force them to seek shelter.Hence, they quickly found a gas station and decided to hunker down there. On the bright side though, there were some old comics they could use to entertain the kids. And a toilet, so they didn't have to ease themselves in the open as they had been doing since."With how hard the rain is falling, we might be leaving here by noon tomorrow. Just our luck." Andrew lamented. But who could blame him? They were trying so hard to cut their travel time and arrive at the settlement, and yet they just kept facing setback after setback."Fretting over it won't change anything. It's unfortunate but that's just how it is. The only thing we can do now is take it the best we can and keep moving." Philip said, however, Andrew raised a brow.W

“Do not even Think about stopping until I say so!” Andrew barked at the troops who were visibly tired while running laps.Their bodies seemed to ache and their chests heaved with each breath they took in. Andrew watched their progress with a whistle around his neck and arms folded across his chest.Ever since he became Captain, he had completely turned around the training regime of the force. They were now more effective and able to handle more difficult situations, thanks to Andrew’s guidance. He continued to watch over their progress when he heard the sound of a vehicle drive onto the training ground. He turned around and saw one of Greysons aides alight from the vehicle and walk up to him.“Captain Andrew, I have been instructed to take you to Mr Greyson immediately. He said there is something you must need to know.” She said.Andrew looked at the troops who were running behind him, of course they prayed internally that he would leave so that they could get a chance to rest after
Chapter 195
In the blink of an eye Phillip was already at the front lines where the soldiers were assembling themselves and putting on their gear. They were spooked when he suddenly appeared out of seemingly thin air. “Who’s in command here?” Phillip asked the slightly frightened group in front of him.“Well based on what’s just happened wouldn’t that be you sir?” A voice said sarcastically from behind, generating a slight chuckle from all the members behind him.He was an average heighted man with well built muscles, a full face beard and ebony black skin and a shiny bald head to top it off.Phillip asked that question to know the hierarchy of the group and who’s responsible for what. “That’s very funny, however I don’t know if you are all aware but that alarm means there’s a swarm of infected rushing towards this base, correct?” He asked while turning his gaze to all of them who were staring at him.“Yes we know, we also know we don’t need one of those freaks to tell us how to do a job we’ve b

Phillip and Andrew leave the room in silence, walking side by side. They were still trying to comprehend what they had just heard.Even Phillip who was the first to be informed still had a hard time believing it. Turning people into infected for personal gains was something he never thought he would discover. However that was the reality, and all they could do was stop it from happening. “When do you want us to leave?” Andrew asked, bringing Phillip back to reality.“I was thinking tomorrow, any later than that and it would be unnecessary. We do not exactly have that much time to waste, especially considering we do not even know if the boy is still wandering the streets by himself.” Phillip responded.“What about Dina? Has she been informed about what is going on?” Andrew asked once again.Phillip shook his head, they had not mentioned anything to her yet as he did not see it as that important. But now that he thought about it, he would need her help since they were dealing with a chi

In the blink of an eye, a whole week had passed. The group was getting more and more accustomed to their new residence and life in the settlement. It was weird since they were so used to finding an infected at least once or twice in a day, so returning back to a somewhat normal life was a little foreign. However, they did still adapt to their new lifestyle quickly. So when they were confident, they all finally decided to look for something to do.Also, Frank hadn't stopped collecting blood from Philip, and according to the bags under his eyes and the excited expression he had on his face each time he invited Philip to his lab, Philip judged that his blood was indeed helping. He had tried to watch Frank work but gave up almost immediately as he failed to understand anything he was doing. On the other hand, Andrew and Dina had been socializing with the other survivors in the settlement. Most of them were pretty hospitable and had no problem in getting acquainted with the duo. There was
