Chapter eight

Walking out from the front of the group was none other than Declan.

His wrist that Austin had snapped earlier was wrapped in a white cast slung across his chest, and standing behind him were over ten burly thugs holding metal pipes and wooden bats.

Seeing that Austin had nowhere left to run, Declan walked out of the darkness with a wide grin on his face.

"Well, well, look who finally came home," Declan sneered, glaring at Austin.

"We waited out here for hours just for you, brat. I'm here to collect a loan."

Austin glanced at the cast on Declan's arm and then swept his gaze across the armed thugs blocking both ends of the alley.

Instead of panicking, a faint smile appeared on Austin's face.

"Are you guys really here to collect a loan, or are you here to steal my money?" Austin asked, his tone calm.

Hearing that, Declan's grin grew even wider as a greedy light flashed in his eyes.

Earlier in the apartment, he had only brought four men and had been caught off guard by Austin's sudden move.

This time, he had called in all his brothers from the neighborhood and brought weapons along.

In his mind, Austin's ten million was already in his pocket!

"Both! It's all together," Declan laughed, gesturing toward Austin with his chin.

"You're going to pay my medical bills, pay the loan interest, and hand over every last cent in that bank account of yours tonight!"

Listening to Declan's shameless words, Austin let out a quiet sigh and didn't bother saying anything else.

Since these guys had delivered themselves right to his doorstep looking for a beating, there was no need to talk sense into them. 

Besides, his body had just been enhanced. He had been looking for a place to vent the excess energy and these men brought themselves to him.

Raising one hand, Austin hooked his finger at the group, daring them to come forward.

Seeing that Austin was completely surrounded yet still dared to provoke them without saying a word, the thugs were instantly infuriated by his arrogance.

"This arrogant little punk is courting death! Get him! Break his legs first and then force him to give up his bank password!" Declan barked angrily, waving his good arm.

At his command, the ten thugs roared and ganged up on Austin, charging at him from both sides of the narrow alley with their pipes and bats raised high!

Austin stood his ground without blinking.

When the first thug in front swung the metal pipe straight toward his head, Austin took half a step forward, caught the man's wrist in mid-air, and drove a heavy punch straight into his stomach!

With the strength from the Physical Enhancement Potion coursing through his muscles, that single punch sent the grown man flying backward, crashing into three thugs behind him and knocking them all to the ground.

Before the others could even react, Austin spun around and delivered a side kick to a thug lunging from his left, snapping the man's shin bone!

In no time, the sound of bodies hitting the ground and agonizing screams echoed through the dark alley.

Less than a minute later, all the men were laying on the floor, writhing in pain with at least one limb broken!

Metal pipes and bats were scattered everywhere across the ground.

Standing at the back of the alley, Declan's smile froze completely on his face as he watched his last man collapse to the floor clutching a broken arm.

Cold sweat poured down Declan's forehead like rain, and his legs started shaking so hard he could barely stand.

Just as Declan spun around to run away, Austin stepped forward and kicked the back of his knee.

Declan let out a loud scream as his leg gave out, dropping him face-first onto the dirty floor right beside his groaning men.

Looking down at the pile of thugs crying in pain on the ground, Austin clapped the dust off his hands and pulled out his cracked phone.

If he just left them here and went to sleep, his doorway would be a mess tomorrow, and animals like Declan would never learn their lesson unless they were locked behind bars.

Thinking like this, Austin dialed the police emergency number and reported that a gang of armed men had tried to rob and extort him outside his apartment.

After hanging up the phone, Austin leaned casually against the alley wall and waited.

Meanwhile, Declan and his thugs laid on the floor groaning in despair, too crippled to crawl away even though they knew the police were coming.

Because patrol cars were already active in the area tonight, it didn't take long before the sound of sirens echoed down the street.

Less than five minutes later, two police cars pulled up to the entrance of the alley with their lights flashing.

The car doors opened, and several police officers rushed into the alley with flashlights in their hands, expecting to see a dangerous gang fight in progress.

However, when the beam of the flashlights swept across the alley and showed over ten grown men laying on the floor howling in pain with broken limbs while a young man stood completely unharmed against the wall, all the officers froze in their tracks.

At the same time, Austin looked toward the officer leading the team at the front.

The moment the streetlight fell on the lead officer's face, Austin paused, realizing that it was the exact same policeman who had thanked him and taken his number at the accident scene earlier!
