Chapter 1

A young man donned in shabby and worn out clothes held the long handle of the broom, as he swept the hallway.

He looked tired and exhausted but had no other choice but to continue his work.

Some girls passed by and used their hands to cover their mouths, as they laughed at him.

"Just a little more." The young man said in an exhausted tone.

This young man was none other than Ryan Goldway he was 6 feet tall, with aesthetically pleasing features and a muscular physique but all of these handsome features was overshadowed by his poverty.

He was supported by his Foster Father who paid his university fees at Diamond University but it was a heavy burden, for him to bear so Ryan had to do several side jobs to meet up with his expenses.

Diamond University was one of the top five higher institutions in the country and had made outstanding achievements in different fields, it was a miracle Ryan got admission due to his outstanding brilliance and intelligence.

Ryan wished life could be better but he'd lost all hope, and just decided to adjust to current realities.

Ryan continued sweeping the dirty hallway as he made sure to sweep the dirts, into the dustpan and then straight to the trash. Doing the job well will enable him to get his pay as this was one of his side jobs.

As he continued to sweep the other end of the hall, he saw some male students walking towards him as they scrolled through their mobile devices.

"Oh my Daniella Washington is kissing Gerald!" One of them hollered.

"You're kidding." The other replied.

"Dude check it out." The first one said as he showed him the video.

"Woah it's literally going viral on Clover!" The second one hollered.

Clover was a video streaming platform with chatting capabilities and amazing user interface, it was one of the top social media apps in the world.

Ryan noticed how their eyes were glued to their mobile devices, as he then realized it was serious.

Ryan stopped his sweeping as he dipped his hand into his pocket to bring out his low end device, it was the cheapest he could afford.

He logged into his Clover account only to see that true to the boys words, such a video was on the platform.

He tapped on the video and watched the one minute video of Daniella Washington kissing Gerald Lane.

Ryan knew Gerald Lane he was one of the wealthiest guys on campus, and he was very arrogant and proud.

Gerald Lane possessed a lanky physique but he exuded an aura of wealth and pride.

He drove a Veyron Bugatti to Campus this vehicle, was not only out of stock but one of the most powerful vehicles in the world.

What shocked him to the core was Daniella Washington was his girlfriend, although she was ranked as one of the top 10 most beautiful girls on campus.

He'd been dating her secretly, as he made her swear not to reveal about their relationship now she was videoed passionately kissing Gerald.

Ryan couldn't believe his eyes as he got up from the bench, and he brought out his own phone and logged into his Clover account.

"What 10k views already!" Ryan hollered

in shock.

The video was already trending on Clover hundreds of comments flooded it's comment section and it's views increasing exponentially.

Ryan's heart sank like the a huge stone thrown into the sea, he'd shared love not based on material wealth with Daniella but a deep passion for her.

She left him in a heartbeat as they'd been dating for 7 months, he'd left love text messages for her every morning.

Although he dated her and she never complained about his poor status, he felt she deserved better.

Ryan in his nearest imagination never thought Daniella would ever do this to him.

Ryan immediately pocketed his device and speedily cleaned up the dirts, and put it into the trashcan.

Ryan then dropped the broom and ran towards the hallway's exit.

The boys noticed how the well known peasant had immediately dashed out.

"Is he okay?" One of the boys quizzed.

"Who knows?" The other replied as they journeyed towards the exit.

Ryan's heart was beating as beads of sweat formed on his forehead, he was later hit with a train of thoughts.

Why did I deserve this?

Could there be a reason behind this?

Why did Daniella do this to me?

Ryan ran towards the girl's dorm as he'd planned what he'll do, nothing more than going to ask his girlfriend by himself.

"Let me call her." Ryan said as he became much more serious.

He scrolled through his contacts and came to the one name 'My Sweetie', he clicked on it and instantly the call started to go through.

He came to a halt and waited for her to pick the call but it was to no avail.

'Maybe she's not actually close to her phone.' Ryan assumed thoughtfully.

Ryan pocketed his mobile device and ran towards the girl's dorm, he had no other choice but to meet his girlfriend.

"What kind of thing is this?" Ryan inquired.

So many thoughts patronized his mental space he'd never felt something like this before.

Suddenly a call came through but since his mobile device was on Do not disturb he didn't pick the call.

The Girls dorm was part of the University premises but it was a bit further from the boys dorm, due to the way the building was architecturally styled.

Ryan arrived infront of the girl's dorm and approached the gate only to meet the security personnel.

"What are you doing here boy?" One of the security guards inquired giving him a disdainful look.

Ryan didn't mind because of how well displayed his poverty was a lot of people knew him as a seemingly irredeemable peasant, that made people to disdain him.

"I'm here to see Daniella Washington." Ryan replied.

The officer opened the gates pedestrian door allowing him to come in.

Ryan calmly walked through the gate as he ran towards the building.

'Daniella'. That name resonated in his mind.
