Nathan’s declaration fell like a thunderbolt.

For a heartbeat, no one moved. No one breathed.

The laughter that had filled the store moments earlier died abruptly, replaced by stunned silence. Every pair of eyes locked onto Nathan as though trying to determine whether he was joking, insane, or dangerously serious.

Jessica Toadson was the first to recover.

Her lips curled into a sneer, and she let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Are you delusional?” she asked loudly. “Or did poverty finally rot your brain?”

Murmurs rippled through the surrounding shoppers.

Nathan took a step forward, his posture calm, his gaze unwavering. “I’m very sane,” he said clearly. “And I’m announcing to everyone present that from this moment onward, you are fired for unjust treatment of customers.”

The words echoed.

Then—

Laughter exploded.

Anna bent over, clutching her stomach. Jenna slapped her thigh, laughing so hard tears formed in her eyes. Even Mr. and Mrs. Toadson laughed openly, shaking their heads as though watching a street performance.

“What right does this boy think he has?” Mrs. Toadson scoffed.

Mr. Toadson turned to Jessica with a helpless shrug. “You see what we’ve been dealing with since? The kid is clearly out of his mind.”

Jessica folded her arms, her face hardening. “Enough,” she snapped. “Young man, present whatever authority makes you think you can fire me. Otherwise, you and that pathetic grandmother of yours should disappear from my sight this instant.”

Her mother-in-law stepped forward, chin raised. “Are you the executive manager of this mall? Or the owner?” she asked mockingly. “What makes you think you can dismiss anyone here?”

Nathan answered calmly. “I’m neither.”

More laughter.

“I’m the next of kin to the owner of this mall.”

The laughter grew even louder, almost hysterical.

Jessica threw her head back. “This is ridiculous!”

But Nathan wasn’t finished.

Before anyone could respond, he added, “And as of a few minutes ago, my grandmother owns this mall.”

That finally cracked the silence again.

Even Nathan’s grandmother froze.

She turned sharply to him, eyes wide with shock. “Nathan… what are you saying?”

Jessica slammed her palm against a display table. “That’s it! I’ve had enough of this nonsense. Guards! Throw them out and arrest them for fraud if they resist!”

The guards hesitated, exchanging uncertain glances.

Mrs. Toadson smirked. “You’ve gone too far now, boy.”

Nathan’s grandmother clutched his arm, fear written all over her face. “Nathan, please… let it go. This is too much trouble.”

Nathan squeezed her hand gently. “Just give me one minute.”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

The room fell strangely quiet as he placed the call.

Everyone watched.

Jessica crossed her arms, confidence dripping from her posture. “Go ahead. Call whoever you want.”

The call connected.

“David Brune,” came the calm voice on the other end.

“David,” Nathan said evenly, “I’m in a situation and I need your help.”

“Whatever you need, consider it done,” David replied without hesitation.

The confidence in that voice caused a ripple of uncertainty among the onlookers.

Nathan continued, loud enough for everyone to hear. “I need City Mall purchased immediately—under my grandmother’s name. Charity Rhodes.”

There were audible gasps.

David didn’t even pause. “Done. City Mall was already on the list of properties I intended to acquire for you when we meet. Excellent instinct, Nathan.”

Jessica’s smile faltered.

“Also,” Nathan added, “I need you to contact the executive manager of the mall and have him meet me at the clothing section immediately.”

“Yes, sir,” David said. “On it.”

The call ended.

Silence.

Heavy, suffocating silence.

Then laughter erupted again—this time tinged with disbelief.

Jessica scoffed. “You must think we’re idiots.”

Mrs. Toadson shook her head. “Do you have any idea what this establishment is worth? Five hundred million dollars at the very least. Possibly seven hundred and fifty million.”

Mr. Toadson laughed derisively. “Boy, have you ever even imagined such an amount in your life?”

Nathan’s grandmother leaned in, whispering anxiously. “Nathan… that money is too much. I know you’re rich now, but buying a whole mall—”

Nathan smiled softly. “Relax, Grandma. When the executive manager arrives, everything will be clear. And you’ll get your bag.”

More laughter followed.

Jenna wiped tears from her eyes. “Does he even know who the executive manager is?”

Anna smirked. “That man is ruthless. If he actually shows up, I’ll quit my job immediately.”

Jessica sneered. “That call you made was fake. You’re bluffing.”

Just then—

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the entrance.

A middle-aged man in an impeccably tailored suit strode in, his expression tight, his movements sharp and purposeful. He didn’t look around. He didn’t smile.

Everyone bowed instinctively.

“Executive Manager Kelvin,” several voices whispered.

Anna’s face drained of color.

Jenna’s knees buckled slightly.

Jessica’s confident posture collapsed.

Mr. Kelvin scanned the area once before speaking. “Who is Nathan Rhodes?”

The question landed like a hammer.

Nathan stepped forward. “I am.”

Without hesitation, Mr. Kelvin walked straight to him—and bowed deeply.

“I received a call from Mr. David Brune,” he said respectfully. “Please tell me what the situation is.”

The store erupted into chaos.

Jessica rushed forward. “Mr. Kelvin, these people are lying! They’re talking trash about the mall and causing trouble—”

SLAP!

The sound was sharp and deafening.

Mr. Kelvin struck Jessica across the face, sending her stumbling back.

“Shut your mouth,” he thundered.

Anna and Jenna rushed forward instinctively. “Sir, you can’t—”

SLAP! SLAP!

Two more strikes landed, leaving both girls clutching their faces in shock.

The old couple stood frozen.

They might be wealthy—but Mr. Kelvin was far wealthier and far more powerful.

Mr. Kelvin turned back to Nathan and his grandmother and bowed again. “I deeply apologize for the disgraceful behavior of our staff.”

Nathan’s grandmother trembled. “What… what is happening?”

Mr. Kelvin smiled respectfully. “It’s an honor to meet you, Madam Charity Rhodes. You are now the owner of City Mall.”

Her breath caught.

She turned to Nathan slowly. “Nathan… is that true?”

Nathan nodded. “I bought it in your name. It’s yours.”

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Mr. Kelvin retrieved the bag from the stunned Mrs. Toadson and handed it respectfully to Nathan’s grandmother. “The cost is approximately five million dollars. I’ll personally cover it as an apology for your treatment on your first visit to your own mall.”

Her hands shook as she held the bag.

An entire mall…

Mr. Kelvin straightened. “Sir,” he said to Nathan, “what would you like done with those who disrespected you?”

Nathan glanced at his grandmother. “The decision is hers.”

All eyes turned to the old woman.

Her voice was calm but firm. “Fire the manager and the two salesgirls. And ban this couple from the mall permanently.”

Panic erupted.

Jessica collapsed to her knees. Anna and Jenna begged. The old couple pleaded.

But her decision stood.

“Next time,” she said quietly, “you will learn to treat people with respect.”

Mr. Kelvin carried out the orders immediately.

Soon after, Nathan and his grandmother left the mall with their purchases.

In the taxi, she held his hand tightly. “My boy… Have you thought about those seven women you bragged about?”

Nathan smiled faintly. “I’ll handle it.”

He stopped the taxi midway. “Grandma, go home. I need to handle something first.”

She kissed his forehead. “God bless you.”

Nathan took another taxi—to Cloven Corporation.

He had a meeting to attend.

And a grand entrance to prepare for.

The ESU Gala awaited.

He had carried it in his bag for quite sometime ever since he left his dorm's to come. "Exactly why you need to come. We’re going skating. No it's not a fancy restaurant, and there would be no bodyguards. It will just be us, some pavements, and zero phones. You need to get your head out of the loop for a couple hours.”Nathan looked at the skates, then at their faces. They were really serious about this."He sighed. “Fine. But if anyone recognizes me—”“W

Aaron and John felt strangely hollow without Nathan’s presence. Three days had passed since the Larry incident at the beach restaurant, and the campus buzz on the issue had shifted from admiration, to confusion, and then to concern. Whispers followed Aaron and John everywhere they walked. People were looking at them, looking for Nathan, looking for signs of him wherever he was.“Have you seen him?” a freshman asked, clutching her phone like evidence, eyes darting from side to side. “He hasn’t been to class. I haven't seen him in even one lecture. Not even the gym.”Aaron shook his head. “No, we haven't seen him too. We don't even know where he is right now. We’ve been calling and it's just been going straight to voicemail.John kicked a stray pebble across the path. “He has not been answering his texts either. Theast message he sent was ‘Need space.’ That was really three days ago.”The girl looked disappointed. She had just gotten an admission into the school and really wanted to se

It was another date at the beachfront restaurant. The place glowed warm Edison bulbs all connected by strings dangling over the customer's heads, with the waves of water from a few feet away rolling in what seemed like whispers just beyond the open terrace.Nathan sat across from Golden, one of the seven women, at a corner table draped in yellow linen. Her golden-blond hair caught the light from the bulbs above her head, while her deep brown eyes reflected the candle flame between her and Nathan. She was mid-sentence, laughing softly about a ridiculous modeling gig, when a commotion erupted near the hostess stand. A boy who seemed to be no older than seventeen, broke through the velvet rope, his trainers skidding on the polished stone floor.
