Chapter 14: Hunting

Hearing Harry's words just now, Shank was shocked. "Harry did I hear right? Why do you have to go hunting? It's too risky. What if you get hurt by a monster?"

Harry just shook his head, "Shank, I've said before that I have to be strong in this world. One of the best ways to practice is through actual combat. Because Shank already understood Harry immediately got ready to walk through the forest and look for monsters. Before they left, Shank approached Harry and then took out a sword which was his weapon.

"Harry you should use this sword if something bad happens. You are indeed a wizard, but this is your first time fighting monsters. It's better to be on guard with this sword. If the monsters can dodge your fireballs then you should close combat with the monster."

Harry glanced at Shank first and asked him. "If I use your sword then what will you fight with?"

"Don't worry, I still have some daggers so you don't need to worry. After all, assassins use daggers more often than swords. Because daggers are more flexible when used compared to swords, daggers are perfect for assassins who have fast attack types." said Shank while showing Harry the dagger he took out.

Knowing that Shank still had another weapon, Harry nodded and took the sword in Shank's hand.

"Then I'll borrow this sword first."

After Shank's sword was taken, Shank immediately disappeared.

With sword in hand, Harry slowly started walking in the forest. Harry walked over cautiously. According to the words of Shank, who often observed the environment around the forest while Harry was training, there were many monsters in this forest that were much stronger than Harry. So Harry must be aware of the existence of monsters around him.

Harry had been walking for 20 minutes when suddenly he heard a voice. Harry immediately hid behind a tree and looked a bit in the direction the sound was coming from. At this time Harry saw a wolf eating the meat of a deer he had killed. The wolf has silvery fur and has very sharp looking fangs.

Harry recalled the book about monsters he had read and knew that the wolf in front of him was a wind wolf. As the name implies, the wind wolf is a monster that has the ability of the wind element. The wind wolf has a very fast speed but the defense it has is also very weak. The wind wolf's defense was just like any other wolf's. Therefore, wind wolves were categorized as monsters possessing the strength of a novice magician level 1. But some wind wolves possessed a wind elemental magic ability namely 'Wind blade'.

The Wind Wolf which has the ability of wind blades can make the air become like a sharp sword and throw it at its enemies. The difficulty against monsters with the power of wind blades was because wind blades were hard to see with their swift movements. So people who are not careful when fighting wind wolves will be killed by wind blade magic when they are not focused.

Harry decided not to act rashly even though it was not certain that the wolf had wind blade abilities.

Harry held tightly to the sword Shank had given him. He began to concentrate mana in his body and released it, then the mana formed a fireball in Harry's hand. He immediately threw the fireball towards the wind wolf who was eating deer meat. The moment the fireball was thrown, the wind wolf seemed to have realized the impending danger and decided to run fast. But the wolves were a step too late and one of them was hit by the force of the fireball.

"Dhaar!" The sound of a fireball exploding was heard and the fireball exploded in the place where the wind wolf had eaten the deer earlier.

Harry didn't immediately see the state of the wind wolf, but Harry immediately prepared another fireball just in case. A ball of fire reappeared beside him, Harry saw the scene of the explosion from behind a tree. Harry saw the previous deer meat was fully grilled but there Harry did not see the wind wolf's corpse at all. He became alert and prepared while looking at the surrounding trees.

The atmosphere was very quiet, there was no sound at all around him. Harry continued to look around him, he then turned to one nearby while pointing. " There!"

The fireball beside Harry was immediately thrown in the direction Harry was pointing at. Coinciding with the rapidly flying fireball, a wolfish shadow dashed out of the bushes very quickly trying to avoid Harry's fireball. But the wolf was not as lucky as the previous wolf. The fireball exploded in the wind wolf's belly. The wind wolf was blown several meters back by the explosion of the fireball.

After falling due to the explosion, the wind wolf immediately lay down and didn't move. The wolf's place was then filled with blood liquid. Seeing Harry's fireball magic ability, he felt satisfied because he managed to kill his opponent. Harry breathed a sigh of relief.

While waiting for a while, Harry saw that the wind wolf continued to lie down and not move anymore. He then approached the corpse of the wind wolf to get some meat and it is possible that in this wind wolf there is a monster core.

Some monsters have a monster core where monsters store their magic. Monster cores are useful for making magic wands or used like magic crystals, namely to be absorbed to increase the power of the magician who absorbs it.

Harry stood in front of the wolf and pointed his sword at the wind wolf. Harry wanted to slash the corpse of the wind wolf to make sure that the wind wolf was really dead.

Suddenly without Harry noticing the wolf that was lying around turned around very quickly and opened its mouth to pounce on Harry. Harry stopped the wind wolf's mouth with his sword. But that wasn't over yet, Harry felt a chill down his spine so he decided to dodge to the side. Harry did manage to dodge so he was still alive, but a blade of wind suddenly appeared from behind Harry and managed to hit him.

From being slashed by the wind blade, Harry spat out a mouthful of blood and felt an ache in his back. It turned out that the wind wolf that Harry was fighting had the ability of a wind blade and made Harry get a sizeable cut on his back.

Harry stared intently at the wolf in front of him who was barely standing up injured by Harry's fireball magic. Harry also struggled to his feet and readied his fireballs for an attack as well. Harry thought that he couldn't lose against just these wind wolves. He stood up despite the excruciating pain in his back.

Suddenly a voice sounded in Harry's ear, Harry's face immediately turned gloomy.

"Looks like this fight is going to be very difficult."
