Chapter 006

"It turns out that a woman like you is able to answer me now?" Katherine pointed at Alice with the fan in her hand. Katherine smiled wickedly.

"Did I impress Madam Katherine after hearing my beautiful voice? Ah, sorry in advance, my beautiful voice often makes you insecure, doesn't it because you sound like a rat?" Alice continued boldly.

Hearing his wife's innocent narration, Damian could not maintain his flat face anymore. The man smiled faintly while Davina laughed loudly. "Hahaha, mom is right. Auntie sounds like a squashed rat!" 

Hearing herself being mocked by the poor family in front of her, Katherine was furious.

"Hey maid! You are just a poor family, where is your respect for your employer?" Katherine shouted with annoyance.

"Maid? Ah, Mrs. Katherine, has your white hair made your head empty? I may have worked in your house as a servant, but you must not forget that I did a good job, and I deserve to earn my own money. People like you don't deserve to comment on me!" Alice replied firmly, saying that the woman didn't feel inferior at all for being a janitor and a maid because she didn't do anything criminal, so why should she be ashamed?

"Tsk, once a servant is still a servant, and your degree is very low!" retorted Katherine, not wanting to lose, because from the beginning she really hated Alice, who was beautiful and also had a clear voice, unlike her who had to take a lot of care to be recognized as beautiful by everyone.

"At least my low degree is better than people like you, or do I need to say everything here?" challenged Alice, looking at Katherine sharply because, working in Katherine's house before, Alice was very familiar with how Katherine's life really was.

"Shut up, you cheap waitress! And you, Tyler, don't be stupid! As one of the members of the parent representative committee, I can't accept Dayana being fired. You should kick that maid out of here. Don't tarnish the name of our school!" Katherine changed the subject because she was afraid that Alice would embarrass her in public.

"But she bought this school. I can't say anything else." Tyler replied casually. He certainly preferred money to the nonsense Katherine was saying.

"Sigh, aren't you afraid that the money she gave you is fake? Think clearly Tyler, do you think people like them can afford to have that much money?" Katherine smiled sarcastically because with Damian's shabby clothes, surely the man would not be able to have that much money.

Katherine's words affected Tyler, and the man then turned his gaze towards Damian, who had the money already in his pocket.

"I guess Mr. Tyler, you're not an idiot who can't tell the difference between real money and fake money."

Damian's words immediately made Tyler grab one of the bills he had stashed away. The man quickly looked at the money, and after a while, he also checked the logo on the money to see whether it was real or not. After making sure the money was genuine, Tyler looked relieved.

"Mrs. Katherine stop all this," Tyler said in a tired tone.

Seeing Alice supported by Tyler, Katherine's blood boiled. The woman did not accept Alice from her.

"You can't be stupid Tyler, even though the money is real but don't you think that it could be stolen or," Katherine paused her sentence, looking at Alice with a dismissive look. "Or it could be corruption and now they're trying to make you a suspect in that case!" Katherine continued in a serious tone.

"WHAT?" shouted Tyler in panic. "You're trying to frame me, you son of a bitch!" Tyler immediately pointed at Damian with emotion. The man quickly took out all the money he had stored in his pocket.

"Why do you keep making such a fuss, Katherine?" Alice said in a disgusted tone. Katherine always made a scene in front of her.

"Mr. Tyler you can rest easy because my husband would never do such a thing and Katherine please stop all this nonsense! You can be jailed for accusing a public servant of corruption and you must remember that my husband is not like yours. Do I need to tell you which projects your husband has-"

"Enough Alice! I was just joking," Katherine cut in quickly. She really couldn't let her voice get the rumour mill going because of her.

Tyler, who saw the drama created by the two women in front of him, could only remain silent. He did not know what to do now because, on the one hand, he wanted to take all the money, but on the other hand, he was afraid that the money was corrupt, and he was also afraid that the government would audit his wealth because he had done so much so far.

"Oh yeah, I'm just here to tell you that it's my mom's birthday soon, you didn't forget, did you? So Glory's big family asked you to come home, you haven't come home for too long and I hope you come this time because if you don't, grandpa will be very angry. You mustn't make grandfather angry again," Katherine quickly changed the subject.

Actually, Alice and Katherine were cousins on Alice's father's side, and also Alice had become a maid at Katherine's house because she really needed money, and Katherine suddenly offered her the job. Alice knew her cousin didn't want to help her, but Alice still endured being insulted by her cousin for the sake of her daughter's recovery.

"That's all I can say; my husband has asked me to come home." Katherine quickly ran away because her husband really asked her to go home, and she began to feel that there was a bad premonition that would happen to her.

Damian, on the other hand, had been silent. The man had now managed to hold his little daughter. The man was very happy because, after a long time, he could feel a gentle embrace on his body, and the feeling of happiness as a father could not deny that it tickled his heart. 

The feeling of happiness he could not explain in words, although he now seemed to be so stiff in holding his daughter because he was afraid of hurting the weak-looking Dayana.

Damian turned his gaze towards Tyler, who was still standing in his place. Damian handed Dayana back to his wife because he had to have a one-on-one talk with Tyler.

Seeing the shabby soldier in front of him approaching him, Tyler felt his sweat suddenly break out, and a feeling of fear suddenly enveloped his heart.

"Hey Tyler, I forgot to tell you that soon the owner of the foundation will arrive and you should know what I mean." Damian whispered with a flat smile that sent chills down Tyler's spine.
